  1. That's a feature of the fantranslation as far as I know. Personally I found neither the original scenes nor their replacements to be particular strong. The original scenes felt kind of forced in to have ero content and the new scenes withs dolphins and dragons where kind of weird. Either one conveys what happens in regards of plot relevance. But I can't really say something about the rest of the censorship.
  2. For translations it's usual through Twitter. For fantranslations I found VNTS pretty useful, but those are getting rarer by the day. For new japanese VNs its impressions here on this forum (Clephas for example), Twitter and VNDB.
  3. Except that Silverio Trinity is presicely one of the title that Sony got a problem with so that argument doesn't really work. Source: https://gematsu.com/2018/10/visual-novel-silverio-trinity-coming-to-playstation-hindered-by-recent-sony-regulations
  4. Nukitashi is another pretty cool announcement. Pretty crazy premise, the Japanese release was just two months ago, lots of hype and a lot of positive opinions from the Westerners that have read it. But the deals seems to be pretty fresh and it won't release before late 2019.
  5. I am excited for Mirai Radio to Jinkou-bato. Sounds like something I would enjoy.
  6. This pretty much. Sometimes I read a charage for the romance and to relax, but the story focused titles are the ones that get me excited.
  7. Despite what my avatar says, that ending (didn't know it was considered the true ending) is by far the best ending in Saya no Uta and one of the reason I hold the VN in high regard. I quite honestly never considered it a bad ending. The alternative is the kind of dull ending you expect from a standard horror movie, and it's only OK since this whole VN reminds me of Call of Cthulhu pen and paper round and the players need a way to win. But I also liked the tone of the asylum ending, even if it didn't compare to the Saya ending. In general I don't consider Lovecrafts entities to be evil, they are just alien and from that angle your interpretation isn't really far fetched at least in my book.
  8. Lamunation! is out Now! Here are the links to the shops! Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1025140/LAMUNATION_international/ JastUSA: https://jastusa.com/lamunation-international Mangagamer: https://www.mangagamer.com/r18/detail.php?goods_type=1&product_code=1154 Denpasoft: https://denpasoft.com/collections/newest-releases/products/lamunation Original Post: Love Lab announced an English translation of Lamunation! for Q1 of 2019. Here is their announcement: And here is their web page: https://www.lovelabjapan.com/lamunation-announcement/ They confirmed an All-Age release with an free 18+ patch. I personally have never heard of Love Lab before, but the hired known translator Blickwinkel for this translation, so at least we don't have to fear a MTL. Here is the opening: @Clephas wrote on his blog here about the title and described it as 'random/comedy/ecchi' Here is the link to his blog post: So we have another new entry to the translation scene. I wish them good luck and hope their release is good. The title at least looks interesting if you enjoy comedy.
  9. I guess I have to eat my words on this one. I honestly thought this was just some elaborate joke. But I am happy to be wrong on this one! I guess the group behind this one really wanted to stay anonymous and choose 4chan because of that. It's been a while since I last played anything in 640*480 but I am going to check this one out.
  10. I finished the first Volume of DareSora, and it is a bit hard to judge, because on one hand it is pretty short (as to be expected at this price point) and on the other hand it likes to keep its cards close to it's chest and doesn't tell you a lot about what's going on. By the end you are left with a lot of questions, but since it's a mystery and I would like to know what's going on that's good. The visuals and the voice acting are nice and I was honestly surprised to see a choice in this VN, although I would suspect that those don't have much long lasting impact on the story. Despite being a rather simple choice it was interesting in the context of story of DareSora. But getting the last few achievements was a bit confusing because it's not really clear what you have to do for it. Overall it was a good offering for the price and I think you can't really go wrong at this price, but it's clear that this is only the first volume and there is no conclusion so all the critics considering episodic releases still apply. I would never the less like to see this continue.
  11. My guess is that is some kind of joke/troll attempt. Sadly. Also I think this would have been better as a forum thread Mr. Special Snowflake.
  12. The real question is what happens when a group opposes Steam new release policies. Worried parents that steam now sells their children pornography and others along those lines. Steam gives eroge more exposure but that exposure can also backfire. I don't think Valve will uphold these new release policies when they come under public fire once someone goes and publish a uncensored Maitetsu on Steam and the news read "Steam sells child pornography". It really hopes there are no problems, but I can see this go wrong. And you may never know when this happens. New Steam could run for month or years without any problem before something happens. Also I guess there are players that don't want friends to see them play full on eroge on Steam so they could hold back buying them there. There is still stigmatization against erotic content in the public opinion, that won't go away that easy.
  13. I read through the kickstarter and there is one thing that really throws me off. So should I expect their mental age to be the above and that they behave as someone of that age? Otherwise it is an interesting premise.
  14. Good to know and welcome to the Forum. I will occasioanlly pester about Nitroplus titles but don't let that discourage you. (Muramasa/Tokyo Necro/Django when?)
  15. That sounds like you are affiliated with JAST in some way? Cross posting information like this definitely cannot hurt.
  16. It depends on how important sex scenes are for you. There is a part of the community that doesn't touch games that has them removed and there those that don't care much for them. Often console releases have new scenes that replace those removed sex scenes. The problem is only very few VN are released for consoles in the west. For example VNDB list about 23000 VNs in total. About 4700 of those have an English version. But there are only 15 VNs in english for the Switch and about 78 for the Vita. Here is the list of all the VNs that have a English Switch release: https://vndb.org/v/all?q=&fil=&rfil=lang-en.plat-swi&s=title&o=a And here is the same list for Vita: https://vndb.org/v/all?q=&fil=&rfil=lang-en.plat-psv&s=title&o=a If you are interested in VN I would take a look around on VNDB and see what interested you, or read some threads on this forum. There is also a section where you can ask for suggestions, If you can stomach reading at the PC you will have a lot more options to choose from. Link to the Suggestion/Recommendation section Lastly some users here have been playing VNs for PC on a tablet. Maybe that is compromise that you can live with? Here are some links: https://forums.fuwanovel.net/topic/20653-best-affordable-windows-tablet-for-visual-novel/ https://forums.fuwanovel.net/topic/20101-windows-10-tablet-and-visual-novels/ https://forums.fuwanovel.net/topic/17826-visual-novels-on-a-tablet/
  17. It really depends where the rights lie and what the contracts say. As long as the rights are with the Japanese rightsholder they can give them who ever they want. It will be interesting to watch Tayutama 2 and Magical Charming! both of them where announced in English prior to this cooperation. Meaning that Hikari Fields holds the rights to both the Chinese as well as the English version. It will be interesting to see if NekoNyan gets involved with those titles. And as Maitetsu shows Hikari Fields didn't always acquire both the Chinese and the English license (since the english license here lies with Sekai Project.) But Lump of sugar could be really cooperative if Hikari Fields approached them and said, hey we bought the English license for Tayutama 2 and Magical Charming! from you but we want to let Nekonyan handle that. Maybe they don't care. I don't know. My guess is that the english rights to Sakura no Mori † Dreamers still lie with Moonstone, so either of the English publishers can acquire them.
  18. I am not sure if NekoNyan automatically gets the right to Hikari Fields past titles. I guess that would depend on whether Hikari Fields acquired the license for the English market in the past, when the bought the Chinese rights and whether Hikari Fields are allowed to pass/sell those on to NekoNyan. It could be that Hikari Fields has the rights for the English market on those titles but can't give them NekoNyan. In that case maybe NekoNyan could translate them for then but they would be released under the label Hikari Field? Would be a bit messy. Generally I would just expect that is cooperation only effect VN acquired from here on.
  19. Ah Ok I didn't catch that. And I agree that I would like to see ChronoBox translated. Are you planning to translate/release the 18+ content too? And since I am here, do you know how many parts are planned for this VN? DareSora looks interesting, but one think I greatly value about VN is that they are usually released rather complete. (Sure there are exceptions but in general most can stand on their own.) My experience with ongoing series is that I lose interest at some point and then either ready to whole thing again once its finishes or just never pick it up again. From the Japanese price tag of 500 Yen I guess that the length is rather short, so I give it a try but I would prefer a non-episodic release. This all sounds pretty critical, but I think you found a interesting title, so good job there.
  20. Here is the Opening: And here is the blog post with the annoucement: https://nekonyansoft.com/blog/august-announcements-first-strike Beside the actual annoucements I find the last part really interesting. After all those news about Chinese companies cranking out unreadable MTL this is some actual good news, and a potential good strategy for Nekonyan. On to Hello Lady!. I have to say first impressions aren't to great with yet another high school setting and a light atmosphere. But I trust all those impressions that there is more than meets the eye. I just hope that I am not going to hate the protagonist. But hating the protagonist didn't stop me from enjoying Hanachirasu, so I am going to give Hello Lady! a chance. But I feel obligated to buy Hello Lady! anyway just to keep the dream of Bradyon Veda alive. That reminds me I have to make an account somewhere else...
  21. Well it is the same scenario writer as ChronoBox. Sakuraba Maruo So there is that. (Altough it seems he has mainly written nukige before ChronoBox.)
  22. Well that was faster than expected. They just annouced: Daresora I honestly never heard of this VN before, but it isn't released yet so no suprise there. But it looks promising from my perspective. Edit: Here is their tweet: And the steam store page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/913450/DareSora_Tears_for_an_Unknown_Sky/ Multipart VN has me a little skeptical. Can anybody say something about those different japanese releases? All Age this month and 18+ in october?
  23. Official statement: https://sekaiproject.com/2018/08/13/official-statement/
  24. Some more information: At statement from Sekai Project on the Tokyo Chronos Kickstarter https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sekaiproject/tokyo-chronos-a-new-vr-mystery-visual-novel-game/posts/2262566 And in this thread Audi from Sekai Project noted that no titles has been dropped https://www.resetera.com/threads/sekai-project-visual-novel-publisher-allegedly-laid-off-their-entire-staff-today.61780/ So I guess they are restructuring their business, but this is still concerning.
  25. I don't want so spread any false rumors or misinformation, but there is a discussion on twitter that Sekai Project has laid off employees? Here are some relevant tweets: Apparently she worked for Sekai Project. I can't confirm this, since I don't really know anything about the people working for either of the translation companies but I don't doubt her. I am sure other people that a more connected in the industry can say confirm this. I am also unsure how many offices Sekai Project has running. I seen pictures of one of their office and I kind of doubt that they have many more. I am a worried about these developments and hope someone can share some insight here. To those that are laid off I want to express my sympathy and hope that everyone finds new work as soon as possible.
