Visual Novel Translation Status (05/06/2018)
Foreword - It's good that we finally have VNTS again, although currently admin Tay schedule is quite chaotic though so there's no guarantee that we'll gonna have VNTS next week, but at least Decay promised us that he'll do his best to keep VNTS alive even though he warn us that he might not be able to do that at every week.
For the title, since we have Chuusotsu released back at almost two weeks ago, I decided to make this week review title as sort of the tribute for the title so we have 'Chuusotsu Graduation Album for this week, because any graduation should at least have some graduation album and Chuusotsu here it's not the exception - because after all they have Chuusotsu! 1st graduation as the game title. I knew that this week image header was Luce from Marrigae though. Of course what I'll be writing here is not the graduation album, but rather this week VNTS Review like usual. As for this week, well it's getting calmer after a bunch of releases at last week and this time we don't have any update from Sekai, but instead we got one release from JAST which is somehow balanced I guess. Lack of update from our Sekai, at least we still have updates from fan translation with Tsurezure be active again, so more or less it's just another usual week in regard of the update. Let's see what I can write for this week as well.
While it's good that we finally have JAST give us the release, unfortunately it's not a bombastic title like Muramasa or Majikoi, or if we want to be more down to earth Flowers Summer. But instead what we got is that we have Sweet Home nukige which is their first release at 2018 here. Say whatever you like about JAST if you support them here, but the fact is that currently even Sekai was outrun JAST with the releases here. Not to mention that Sekai's Fatal Twelve is certainly more interesting compared to Sweet Home. Granted comparing nukige to shoujo ai story VN is just like comparing apple and orange, but what I want to say is that even Sekai managed to JAST beat at this year in term of releases, and let's not compare Mangagamer to JAST here in which the former did release more interesting nukige (Sideboob). Back to Sweet Home, the premise is just an university student MC going back to his home because his apartment is burnt and find out that his house became girls boarding house, and MC managed to have sex with the girls whose boarding there. Have fun though if you interested with Sweet Home nukige.
As for Momoclo Steam version, finally Frontwing did have the exact date for the release and it'll be at tomorrow so just in case you want Steam version may as well note the date. Other than Momoclo, Frontwing also delayed Sharin release to this month although for now they still won't be so sure about that though, hopefully they'll be able to sort out the release date. As for Tayutama 2, once again very unexpectedly the release was delayed and this time apparently it would be released at this month, in which obviously we don't know if it'll become true or not. We also have Venus Blood Frontier KS, which apparently still in planning so for now we didn't know whether it'll be successful or not - keep in mind that KS usually quite adverse with sex scenes, and Venus Blood franchise is quite infamous with tentacle rape (They released English demo as the translation sample). There's Princess Maker 5 released at Steam as well, and I can only say it's redundant release because we already have it released as fan translated VN.
For the last updates, we have Fureraba released at Steam store in which too bad that there's no PSV exclusive CG ported to the Steam version. Nekonyan also have stated that they'll focusing on working at both of Hello Good Bye (HGB) and Sanoba so that they'll be able to release those two VNs in certain months (HGB for August and Sanoba for October). If anything, even if they say that the current release month was delayed from their previous targets, at least now we have almost exact release date so we didn't need to wildly guess as much as before - they'll probably going for the months end in regard of the release time.
We have Eustia was at 41.07% translated along with 29.62% edited and 29.25% TLC-ed, Loverable was at 37.47% edited, Harugi's prologue was at 92% translated and one third (33%) edited, Pure Pure Hinata's route was at 81.66% translated and overall was at 72.66% translated, and Witch Garden was at 45% translated. As for LxC 2, unfortunately our Quof right now is swamped with a lot of official projects (Five VNs translation projects for the record) and not to mention that his hacker was recently is getting busier, so as for now LxC 2 is stalled for time being (I just hope that Quof will find the solution for his problem). For the last news, finally after one month and half of absence we have Tsurezure released HatsuKoi append which translate both of Kyou's and Maya's short after story, and for their next plan they'll going to do some rereading + a bit re-TLC at HatsuKoi first translated routes (Common, Midori's and Runa's) alongside their work to translated Yukino's short after story. After all of those finished, they'll going with their work to translate Hoshiori in which personally I hope it'll be happen in near future.

PS - In regard of Higurashi PS3 exclusive arc port, congratulation on Tsukiotoshi patch release and for the next work the translator will work on Taraimawashi which apparently is a short arc. The translator said that it'll be possible if he managed to release Taraimawashi patch by the end of June here.

Boring introduction to understand why I'm making this tutorial. (You can skip this if you want)
So this tutorial is to create that so called "mechanical immersion" when you play a VN, kinda (?)
Personally I read old VNs with the help of chiitrans for parsing the text, to being able to immerse myself into the story I need to read it in full-screen mode (I just can't read it otherwise) and this is not a problem when I read new novels that allow me to kinda cheat and use chiitrans even in full-screen mode but what about old VNs? With VNs that have resolutions of 640x480 or 800x600 you can't go full-screen and use chiitrans at the same time, the parser will either look really bad or it simply won't show.
Now, to fix this issue I used to use a virtual machine called Oracle VM VirtualBox, that program allowed me to scale the screen at any size I wanted so I could play the VNs in "full-screen" mode and it kinda worked... but the problem is... using a virtual machine was a pain in the ass in general so I searched for an easier solution and here it is:

What you will need:

All the softwares are free and ad-free too but you can scan them if you want.
Tutorial:
1) Download, unpack and install everything (some of them don't require any installation).
2) See if you can take a shortcut by using ResizeEnableRunner, this wont work most of the time and it will make some VNs look bad, but you can try if you want.
Just resize the screen of the VN by clicking on the borders of the VN itself and while holding the left click drag it and expand it, just like you do with any other program.
3) If that method doesn't work (80% of the time) or you just don't like how it looks, then use OnTopReplica.
a) Open the program and you will see this:
Left click on it...trust me on this one.
b) Select your VN and click in "-whole-"
c) Once your VN is selected you will know because the program will duplicate the screen, now you can resize it but that's not what we want to do, we want to go full-screen mode.
So go to: Resize > Full-screen. (you can also double click on the duplicated screen and it will do the same thing)
d) Now this is the important part, you will need to advance the text of the VN with your keyboard but you can also use your mouse.
Position the VN behind the duplicated window, then right click on the duplicated screen and click on "enable click-through", the duplicated screen will now be "transparent" so you can click through it.
Here is how it looks and a comparison using the stretching mode (with ResizeEnableRunner) and using the duplicated screen.
NOTE: The "resize enable runner" program uses the same method that Visual Novel Reader to stretch the visual novels.
Problems you may encounter while using the software:
*Some VNs will love to stay on top of the screen or they won't let you use, in my case chiitrans or the parser you normally use, for those cases use WindowsOnTop.
Open it > assign a hotkey to it > and when have that issue just force the program to stay on top, this is how I solved it with some VNs, for example setsunai, or just old VNs.
*Why I'm seeing black borders? It's annoying!
Easy peasy Japanesey, now you can read your VNs full of runes and 象形文字 in full-screen mode for a perfect immersion.
Btw, if you are wondering about the delay between the duplicated screen and the original, well there isn't any. (I'm sure there is probably some but it's imperceptible)

Before I announce the VN of the Month, I'm going to go ahead and apologize to those who wanted me to play Honoguraki... to be blunt, I don't have the energy for it. Ragnarok sucked me dry, and I need to get away from undead and demons for a while. Moreover, I hate zombies in the first place (so many reasons), so I'd be unlikely to give a pleasant review or comment anyway.
Now... it is kind of startling how so many great games got packed into a single month. December 2016 was a monster month for story-focused VNs, with a relative dearth of charage/moege (with only two released). I played as much as I could, but after six games, including the monster known as Venus Blood Ragnarok, I feel drained and tired. The main reason I don't deny the existence of charage utterly (other than the occasional shining diamond I find in the piles of icarabu shit) is because even I need a break from bloodshed and darkness sometimes.
There were three releases that had the potential to become VN of the Month this time around...
Akiyume Kukuru
Ryuukishi Bloody Saga
Ou no Mimi ni wa Todokanai!
Now, to be blunt, Ou no Mimi would be my first choice. Why? Because, without the art bigots interfering, it is the most solid of those three candidates by several degrees. In fact, if this were six years ago, all things equal (including art), I would without hesitation have named it VN of the Month. While AXL doesn't escape its own unique formula, there is a reason why this company is a consistent seller despite reusing character art and music constantly.
However, we come to Ryuukishi, which is only a few steps behind story-wise and has the advantage of being an immensely creative story that doesn't fall back on tropes for the most part. It also has a more modern art-style that is highly-detailed, illustrating battle scenes and some of the more shocking guro scenes in loving detail.
Last of all, we have Akiyume Kukuru, which didn't fail to please as the third (and possibly final) game of Sumikko's 'Seasons' series. As usual, it provides the kind of meta-science mystery combined with violent and sexual humor that the company has become infamous for. For a certain type of reader, this VN is pure crack, though if you aren't the type it is aiming for, it will be a huge miss.
So what is the conclusion? In the end it came down to Ryuukishi and Ou no Mimi. I balanced Ou no Mimi's solid, well-narrated story against Ryuukishi's more innovative approach... and in the end I chose Ryuukishi Bloody Saga as VN of the Month December 2016. While AXL's works are really 'at-home' for me, I felt that Ryuukishi will probably have a larger impact on the VN community as a whole in the long run... and they were dead even on how I enjoyed them.
Now... look forward to VN of the Year 2016, which I probably won't finish considering until sometime next month. Fortunately or unfortunately, 2016 was almost as good as 2014 and 2011 for VNs...

Visual Novel Translation Status (09/10/2016)
For the title here while not very creative, the meaning should be very obvious here (Combining booby because we had many big boobs woman here and quest was from Dragon Quest in regard of the setting which remind us of old RPG here). While the image header VN (Kyonyuu or Funbag Fantasy) was not my taste here, at least I knew that our Bookwormotaku here like this very much. Oh, and if Decay here like the localized title here, he should be thanking Arunaru here for came up with the localized title here. And in case of some user here was curious about what's the premise from Mangagamer recently announced title, what I knew is that the husband found out about his wife adultery, and instead of filing a divorce to the court the husband decided to watch his wife had sex with her lover here (It's obviously NTR here). Not interested, but at least I knew that I didn't need to speculate for Mangagamer next partner at Atlanta later. Oh, and from Decay's musing here apparently that most of eroge artist didn't care too much about drawing penis and vagina because it'll be censored anyway by mosaic if we knew Japanese law here (Not that I care about mosaic in the first place though).
This week I kind of make this in hurry, so I'm apologized if I had some short coming here. Anyway for first updates here we had Sekai and their usual update here. Maitetsu here was had some significant update here by almost 5%, bringing the progress to 31.09% translated. Tenshin Rahman was had quite average progress here, and right now it was at 45.88% translated here. Chrono Clock, while the progress here was quite stable and slow here (32.92% translated here), I think it would be quite hard to fulfill the promise at Kickstarter if they didn't upped their weekly progress here. Although if the progress that shown here was also with editing and QC progress here it would be very different story here (Or maybe slightly different story here). Oh, and for Wagahigh we had slight update here after very long time here at 23.72% translated for the progress.
For fan translation usual progress here, we had Tsui Yuri finally continuing the translating progress here (74% translated), Bishoujo Mangekyou give usual update here (58% edited, 53% QC-ed, and 21% proofread), Majokoi also had usual update here (37.3% translated, 28.7% edited, and 12% edited. Quite slow imo). Speaking about Tsui Yuri here, for Dergonu's new project here (I'll call it Shibukuzu) right now he was in the middle of translating, but he didn't said which scripts so the progress was still at 1 script translated here. For other projects here, Nocturnal Illusion Renewal was 3.2% edited for the 2nd time here; Loverable was at 15.02% translated and common route at 57.65% translated; Ushieta translation was finished for one route here (Airi's) although they not willing to translating H-Scenes though; Shin Koihime Musou wad releasing sort of prototype patch (Because it was only translated one chapter here and it's raw translation here); and finally Dracu Riot completion was had some progress with the promise to releasing the patch with all route translated here with only Miu's route was fully edited here, and they also give promise to edited all of non-Miu heroine route here (I'll keep my eye on this, even though if I may honest here I'd already satisfied with all route translated here, edited or not). Oh, for more news here Guilty Crown Lost Christmas translation was released here, and from what I knew that yhis VN also had translation in Indonesian language (Personally I would be more happy if some Indonesian translator here had release complete translation patch for either Natsuyume and Hatsusaku here instead of Guilty Crown here, but whatever).
Before I close my review here, let me tell you that this week we also had pleasant surprise here for anyone else who wait or following Libra progress here (Me too). Right now they managed to finished translating Calen's route and they move on to Aoi's route with 15% translated for the progress here (Hopefully included editing and QC here for the progress once again). Oh, and obviously we must wait for next week if you looking forward to Mangagamer updates here.

Like I said in my previous blog post, I have been wanting to keep my blog more active for a while, and this time I'll be talking about yatagarasu's yurige, Seisai no Resonance.
Before we get into it, I have to admit, I skipped a few routes in this one in order to get the true ending. (Nagi's true end.) It's not that the other girls in the game are bad, but more that Nagi was such an interesting character, her normal ending was not enough to satisfy me, so I HAD to skip to the true ending. (For a very annoying reason, you HAVE to complete at least another route, (possibly all of them?) after Nagi's before you can get Nagi's true ending, as Nagi's true end serves as the whole game's true route.) I ended up grabbing a 100% save file, so I could jump into her true route. Because of that, this post will primarily be talking about the common route, Nagi's route and the true ending.
To quickly sum up the setting and start of the story. Kanae, our main character, travels to Otofuse Island to look for her mother, who vanished seven years ago. Otofuse is a small island closed off from the main land, where a strange ritual takes place every year. The reason for this ritual is, long ago, a big fireball fell down on the island, and a pair of shrine maidens were the ones who calmed down and sealed away the flames. Ever since that that, a yearly ritual is held, where two shrine maidens are picked to preform a similar sealing ritual like back then. The shrine maidens on the island now wield strange "gems" that grants them special powers. (More on this later.)
Kanae takes a ferry to the island, but before she reaches Otofuse, a strange girl from a "shady" organization running the island, the shourai-kai, attacks her and she falls into the sea. Washed up ashore, Kanae is rescued by the beautiful and mysterious Mirai, who tells Kanae she has to become a shrine maiden in order to see her mother again. After a bit of a struggle, Kanae enrolls at Sakihana all-girls school, and aims to become a shrine maiden in order to see her mother.
Gameplay
This game has a rather interesting battle system, which is used for boss battles, training matches and so on in the game. (So, often when Kanae gets in a fight, you end up battling.) I personally found the gameplay very fun, but totally out of place. Because of how rarely you actually end up fighting, and how little the result of the battle matters, it almost just served as an obstacle between the story segments, which I did not enjoy. Like I said at first, the gameplay itself was actually pretty fun and well made, but it just... felt totally uncesessary. (At the end, I honestly just found myself annoyed at the fact that these battles were interrupting the story.)
The combat is quite similar to fighting games like the Naruto PS3 games etc. You can move in a 360 angle, use different powers to fight your opponent, drain your "spirit(?)" as you preform special attacks and so on.
Overall, although the gameplay started off as fun and was well made, I really didn't feel like it had a place in the game at all.
Story
As Kanae tries to become a powerful shrine maiden, so that she can be selected for the yearly ritual and see her mother, you learn more and more about what is actually going on in Otofuse.
Why is the shourai-kai trying to kill Kanae? Why must Kanae become a shrine maiden in order to see her mother, and what happened to her mother seven years ago? What are the strange beings living in the forest outside the school grounds?
I found the story very good, which was really cool for a yuri title, which often focuses primarily on the romance, not the story segments.
Towards the end, I was glued to the screen, wondering what would happen next, and the way the game was paced was quite nice in my opinion. Some people have complained about the writing of the story, but I found it absolutely fine. It was entertaining from start to finish. Now, moving on from the common route, I will only be able to talk about the Nagi route and the true ending, but honestly, you should play this game just for that. (Short version, it was great.)
Nagi and Kanae
This is without a doubt one of my favorite yuri romances, ever. Kanae is goofy and funny, sociable and a little bit overly friendly with most people she meets. Nagi on the other hand, is a retracted, cold and cunning girl. (She is very intelligent when it comes to most things, but she isn't very good at social situations, unlike Kanae, and she is a bit of a tsundere under her closed off shell. Strange, but great mix.) At first, she uses Kanae for her own benefit, which is searching for an answer to a question she has had for a while. (Basically, what is actually going on? Nagi doesn't believe that the ritual and the shourai-kai is what it seems to be, and wants to dig deeper in order to find the truth.) Kanae wants to find her mother, and the two start working together. From there on out, one of the greatest yuri romances I have read unfolds. (And plot too, but pffft, who cares about that. )
The two of them are literal opposites, Kanae with her warmth and her flames, and Nagi with her cold attitude and her ice. (Going back to the powers I mentioned earlier, the true image of their soul is reflected in the shrine maiden's powers, which is summoned from a special stone they all have. (Kanae recieved hers as a gift from her mother years ago.)
So, for the closed off Nagi, we have ice.
And for the warm and loving Kanae, it's fire.
As Kanae learns more about Nagi, she decides that she wants to be the one to "melt Nagi's ice," which is honestly one of my favorite quotes ever, and the two of them just fit so perfectly together in the game, as they are literal opposites. The pacing in Nagi's route is absolutely perfect, and the romance is slowly but surely introduced, so not rushed at all. There is also a fairly small amount of H-scenes, 2 for Nagi if I remember correctly, both of which happen at just the right time, which made the relationship between the two seem all the more real to me. (It's not like Koiken Otome, where you are showered in H-scenes fairly early on.)
The fact that Nagi is the true heroine in the game is so, so right. She is a really great character, and her paired up with Kanae makes for a fantastic couple. One thing that did dissapoint me a little with the game was Nagi's normal ending, which in all honesty, is a "bad" ending, not a "normal"/"good" one. (It's very bittersweet.) The fact that you HAVE to play through the rest in order to unlock the true ending makes the time between the real Nagi ending and the "bad" one too great, and if you are going to play the game, I honestly recommend getting a 100% save file, so you can do the true ending in all it's glory right after Nagi's normal end.
The rest of the cast and a conclusion
The rest of the cast in Seisai no Resonance is great, with a few rather standard template characters like Yuu and Mako, but even they are quite interesting, and although I didn't play their routes, I very much enjoyed what I saw of them in the common route and Nagi's route+ the true end. My favorite character besides Nagi and Kanae has to be Yayako, Nagi's only friend before Kanae. She is such a hilarious character, and I will definitely be playing her route at some point. (And yes, that is a cat on her head.)
Overall, Seisai no Resonance is a really great yurige with an interesting plot, well written romance and an interesting cast. The gameplay, although well made, serves more as a distraction from the story, and could in all honesty have been removed. But, despite that, I really enjoyed the game, and would strongly recommend it to all yuri fans.

MAJO KOI NIKKI
Progress is steady, we made a new table to display it in our website, so goodbye the shitty one I did at the beggining, now it will show exact numbers and specific routes. One of our translators is having some issues right now but he'll be back next week, so yeah, no problem about that.

Witch's Garden
We decided to focus entirely on the common route as of now instead of dividing our forces in the existing routes. The common route has advanced a lot and it's now over the 50% mark and we will hopefully finish it soon, but yeah, until that happens that has been the only notable advancement in the project. All the other numbers have stayed relatively equal comparing the to last week's because we decided not to put much editing work yet. Sorry about it, but this is how it goes.

This has been one of our newest projects, the team has been gathered and everyone is very active as of now. You can check out more detailed info about the entire team that is working on it in our website, but I'll still make a list of them here. Progress is going very quickly but steadily at the same time, members are motivated and things are going well regarding this front. Tsui Yuri
For some of you this may come out as a surprise, for others not. That's right, Dergonu's team decided to join us yesterday after several talks we had over these past few weeks. If you want to know more about this just check Derg's post here, but for those who are lazy I'll just quote him here:
"So first of all, me and my team will be joining Luna Translations. Progress wise, this shouldn't mean much, (in fact it might pick up a bit, as we got some help from them to fill a few missing staff positions.)
For those wondering why, I just really like the way they do things over there, and after having spoken with their leader for quite some time, I decided to join forces with their group. So yeah, not much will change really, but we are now officially a part of Luna Translations! (Hey, this means we'll finally have a progress page outside of Fuwa!)"
I'll briefly disect this statements. First of all, we filled the positions of QC, Beta Testing and TLC as Dergonu asked for us to do. And yes, very soon we'll insert his project as one of ours in our website, just like the other three that we have right now. Personally, it's a pleasure to have him on our team and he'll be a great addition to our ranks.

Last but not least, I want to briefly talk about Hanasaki Work Spring. Long story short, we got a very serious warning saying that if we didn't stop we could get into legal trouble. Hello everyone! Today I have great news, and some kind of meh news. First the good news!
Porygon has finalized the patch making tools, so we can now get all sorts of stuff worked out. (Previously we had issues with the text not displaying right, some symbols dissapearing etc. That's all gone now.)
On the translation side of things, I had some days off this week and got some decent work done. The progress has moved quite a lot since the last update. (Progress update and more is below.)
Now for some meh news. I have a really important exam in one week, (like, if I don't study like crazy, I am so failing it,) and so I am kind of studying myself to death here. Because of that, next week I wont have a lot of time to translate. I will still make updates like usual, but expect like, a miniscule amount of progress the next week or two, as I try my hardest not to fail and screw up my life
Also, @Meat_Bun1 is back on the project as an editor, and he will be fixing all the silly mistakes left in by me.
