    Today's outage was caused by Apache update craziness. Nayleen dedicated hours and hours and hours -- and his mental health and physical nerves -- to solving this for us. I hope you'll all join me in thanking him. We honestly (and literally) wouldn't be here without him. He single-handedly prevented another Fuwapocalypse-sytle outage. Thank you, Nayleen. Truly. Thanks. We owe you one.

    Thanks to everybody who participated in this discussion! I've posted the new system here. Here's the short version: Username (User Display Name) changes -- PM Tay or Nayleen with the new name and a reason for the change. If the change is approved, Tay and Nayleen will post the name changes in this thread (to help the rest of the community keep people straight) User Title changes -- These are given for good deeds (including having 500+ posts). Users with 500+ posts can (as of right now) start changing their titles again. Users can "earn" these title changes at any time (from the day of registration to the date of ascension into FuwaHeaven) The consensus for most of these changes was strong. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts!

    Way to go, everybody. If life gets busy, scale back, but don't stop! I've scaled waaaay back at different parts of the year, but I haven't stopped and now I'm almost done. I may not hit all my goals in 2013, but I sure as heck will in 2014! Keep at it! Keep posting and sharing how you're doing and if you need a pick me up or encouragement!

    No, absolutely! You're a great example of why we should be handing out title changes as rewards: you do a ton! The reason for the fixation on post count is disappointingly simple: it's pretty much the only way the board software has at its disposal to "allow" a user to change their title, or not. It's a software limitation, sadly.

    I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about . You're right, those are all worthy of rewards. I'm still working out good systems of doing so -- a badge system is a big project and may not be ready soon -- but certainly things like name title changes are worthy (if inadequate) gifts to those with low post #s. All ideas welcome. Thanks for the input, all.

    Oh, thanks a bunch Naomi -- I wanted to comment on this! 500 posts is a lot. I realize this. Originally in my head, I was thinking, "How could a user change their user title before 500 posts? Maybe it could be given as a reward! For either working on the site, or reading Batman's blog, or making a walkthrough, etc." We'd need a list of applicable deeds-rewards, but I think title changes are fun and should be encouraged, even at low post numbers. (Members with 500 posts clearly deserve them, and should be rewarded for their participation by being able to change them at any time)
