Katawa Shoujo?
-
Well, obviously. But again, obscenity laws can be vague, so you could probably get arrested even in a more liberal state if the court feels that said work has no artistic merit. Ulysses was banned for export for a while due to being "obscene", and they'll probably be stricter on "those damn Japanese pedophile games".

Download services exist for a reason. In all seriousness, conviction on these charges seems almost random. It depends on the judge, the jury, and however the stars are aligned on that particular day. To be safe, I'd just recommend not trying to put anything crazy past the customs office. In the US at least, these laws seem vague at best, so just don't try to import any nukige and you'll probably be fine.

Some of the points brought up in this thread about Rewrite are valid, though.

? I've never heard the U.S. as being against loli. In fact, they're probably one of the most accepting countries as far as loli goes. I can see Europe, Australia, and Canada, since they have history of making arrests due to drawn CP, but I don't think anyone in the United States has ever received criminal charges from having lolicon content.

That would be Rewrite.
-
Yeah, it's probably on the top of my list of games to play when I learn Japanese. It doesn't help that denpa's an obscure genre already.

I guess that's what happens when you put the entirety of your game into video form... On the subject of this thread, I'd guess the real most overlooked VN would be untranslated, and probably highly obsucre. I've heard some people say that https://vndb.org/v6475 is very good, for example, but it's never discussed here.

VN with a "Real" coodere and/or dandere

Rewrite? -
I can't say a lot about the other games, but Aselia is mostly called a VN because a majority of the game is in VN format, and it has branching routes. As I understand it, BlazBlue has about an equal ratio of story to gameplay, and it has a less than traditional text system. A better one to compare it with is Phoenix Wright, which is considered a visual novel despite having no narration and a certain amount of gameplay.
-
That one's... complicated. The route in the original game doesn't really have any romance, and the one in the fandisc does.

10/10 bait. In all seriousness, it seems obvious that you haven't played an awful lot of visual novels. Trying to compare the atmosphere in Rewrite with School Days/Summer Days is honestly just not fair, considering they attempt completely different things. Rewrite and School Days aren't even close to being in the same genre, and have completely different presentation styles. Also, pretty much everything I've seen generally agrees that the Lucia route suffered the most from the bloat problem you complain about. None of the Tanaka routes, (with one possible exception,) are nearly as long as Lucia's, although I have to admit her route suffers less from the Ryukishi irrelevance syndrome than say, Umineko. I recommend coming back to it once you've played a bit more, because while Rewrite certainly isn't perfect, it is very good and is my favorite KEY game of those that I've actually read.

Help me decide between two great choices
Shota_Victory replied to CorgiKing's topic in Recommendations
They're both really good choices. I haven't actually played Steins;Gate yet, but a lot of people on this forum love it, so I'd recommend playing it. G-Senjou is possibly my favorite VN of all time, (I know that isn't saying much,) but it has a just slightly lower review score. So I'd recommend playing Steins;Gate, then playing G-Senjou no Maou -
I've been playing https://vndb.org/v11999 recently, although I'd imagine that's too extreme for most.

There should be a file in there called "DejaVuSans.ttf". Simply rename that to something along the lines of "DejaVuSan1.ttf", then move the .ttf of whatever font you want to use to use to the renpy/common folder. Then, rename the font to "DejaVuSans.ttf". (I'm not entirely sure if Deja Vu Sans is what Sakura Swim Club uses, but you can just do the same thing with a different filename.)

Moenovel teases localization of a new title
Shota_Victory replied to Decay's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I played KonoSora when I was newer and didn't know about the butchery. I never played Ageha's route, but I know how bad it is by from what other people said about it. To be completely honest, I don't mind it too much. If their previous title was any indication, it'll probably bring more attention to the visual novel scene, and someone's just going to patch the ero back in anyway. It would be preferable if say, MangaGamer or JAST translated it instead, but we in the West don't get enough localisations to be overly picky about who does them. That being said, we should probably start assembling the retranslation team soon, if IMHHW was any indication. -
Go to renpy/common, then replace the font there with whatever font you want to use.

I tried reading Aguni, but I found it a bit boring. Maybe I'll start it after I finish the second chapter.
-
I've played through the first chapter so far. I'd say it's definitely worth playing, although it does start off extremely slow.
-
I'll be surprised if anyone manages to get that one, considering like five people on this forum have played it. Yup! It's Tsui no Sora. Not only is it untranslated, but it's completely unhookable as far as I can tell, due to arcane 90s engine structures. It's first on my list when I actually bother to learn Japanese. There's a subbed version of the OVA floating around, but I'm 99% sure it's the worst commercially released anime ever released. The animation is awful, the voice acting sounds amateur at best, and the art is on the level of MS Paint. I almost recommend watching it for the pure humor value.

Romeo and Juliet isn't a visual novel.
-
This badly describes an adaptation, but whatever. A girl gets raped until she jumps off a building, then comes back from the dead to kill her rapist.
-
Extremely minor non-plot spoilers.

This game makes me feel like vomiting my guts out and daiing. It's pretty good. You should play it.
