Nah I get you, and I really hate NTR, like really hate it, I do not get the Japanese fetish of playing as a dude getting cheated on at all! But I just do not consider that to be NTR, or even close, if a VN has a hint of actual NTR, I will not go near it (unless it is avoidable and/or I really like the sound of said VN and it is nothing major) =/. Your tastes in this regard are indeed quite extreme, but to each their own, it is a shame to limit your options so much tho! I mean the anime you mention for example, I wouldn't watch because the main protagonist is female, and this is actually because I also generally role play the MC and also do the same for anime to an extent, if the MC is Female I cannot do that so well (as I am ofc Male) =/ (Probably wrong, and I actually like the sound of that anime lol, but it is my own weird preference, yes there are male main characters, but needs to be the full protagonist for me).

I 100% get the feeling bro, but dont forget, VN's will not combat loneliness, only provide you escape from it. Enjoy your escape from it, but remember to confront it when you are up for it. Ok, well best frame of reference I can come up with is harem anime where there is one clear winner in terms of the girls that has the most romantic development (and that it feels like the show is angling for), but alot of other girls also like the MC. E.g. Highschool DXD Rias. Madan no Ou to Vanadis Elen. Rosario + Vampire Moka etc etc... (I think they are even all the girl the MC meets first in the show lol). Is Aisha essentially one of those "winner" girls, but where instead of just hugs and breasts pressed in his face by the other girls they are actually sleeping with him (which makes the whole thing not funny really, but harsh). I will probably just see how it is, sometimes I try and find out too much to see if a VN will annoy me. From what you guys have said there might be some bits I dont like, but you cant really tell me for sure if I will like it or not, so I should really just give it a go

You say he has multiple wives (I assume from the start of the game?). But from what @ChaosRaven said, Aisha is the only one of these pre-existing wives that features in the game? (Assuming I am right in thinking Aisha is one of these wives).

I guess the issue with that is that Tsundere doesnt suit a childhood friend character as much (if she has known MC so long (without being separated for a significant period of time) she is surely less likely to be tsundere with him). With Maya, fair enough I guess, I have not started her route but I did think that what you describe would pretty much be her route.

Yea I dont quite get this, surely their time would be much better spent translating a moderately popular game with no hint of a translation than translating something that already has a fan translation (which is even superior). Personally even if a fan translation has some spelling and grammar errors (even a substantial amount) it doesnt bother me, its not like I dont know what it means (can certaintly still understand it better than Japanese), I dont see the point in releasing it as an "official" translation. Honestly I have huge respect for the fan translators and would probably use a fan translation even if it was slightly worse lol. (that being said I am grateful to any and all translators). I guess I get what mangagamer are saying above tho. The exception to this being any translations which are mainly machine translated ofc.

I expect character development in a 24 episode anime season, assuming 20 mins per episode of an anime that equates to: (24 * 20) / 60 = 8 Hours Or Death Note as an example: (36 * 20) / 60 = 12 Hours I appreciate they are a different medium, but I would therefore expect character development in 10 hours of gameplay. I think the time your average VN uses describing emotions/feelings/scenes probably equates to the amount of time a standard anime spends on filler/action sequences.

Yea I think I breezed past Koihime Musou because it is already on my list. I considered it pretty low priority tho as it looked to me like It is probably another game where Harem = Kanon Are there actual routes in Musou for the heroines where you end up with one of them? I am not a lover of a protagonist sleeping with every women he meets in a game -.-, dont like my heroines to sleep around, therefore hero shouldnt either =/. If harem is one route, I dont mind, if there is just some casual sex along the way before any serious romance forms, I dont mind.

Hey thanks for the list. RE Funbag/Kyonyuu it sounds like it may meet the requirement and be ok, but as it is clearly a nukige, does it have a decent plot? And is there actually routes for each heroine with a genuine romantic plot, or is it just a massive haremfest for the MC? (Notice the tag Engages in: Polygamy for the main char) with sex scenes every 5 mins. Also, Otome is not my thing, I cant really imagine any heterosexual guys would play Otome tbh? That being said, by that logic no heterosexual women would play any of the other VNs u listed, so what do I know lol.

As for in England, well, I tend to avoid looking into too much stuff like that, I find it depressing, but I have seen something about harassment in the workplace recently, a few things about human trafficking on the rise, and there has been a lot of stuff about child abuse recently, mostly historic and people that were in positions of power, quite sickening (probably why they were looking to ban loli hentai a while ago in the UK). Train molesting itself isnt really a major issue here as far as I am aware, none of my female friends have mentioned it, I think some women have complained about it. But harassment in general I am sure is as much of an issue here as anywhere. Plus RE this game, sexual harassment is not really even that much of an issue in it (unless it occurs later in Mizukis route or the loli chicks route), I am not sure why everyone focused on it -.-. Yea, KiraKira is a bit different from the sounds of it, I played KiraKira already, enjoyed it -.-. I am not particularly looking for a trap protagonist, just trying to ascertain if Otome would be worth me playing really. In KiraKira the trap didnt really bother me as you saw Maejima in male clothes when he could be, but he had to dress as a girl for the band. Actually I might revisit that game, played it way back in 2009. Also do you know if Ikusa Megami Verita was ever translated fully?

But with what we were saying about Otome wa Boku, the protag is a bit feminine looking and has to dress as a girl to go to school etc. But does he still behave like a guy, and does he dislike having to dress as a girl all the time? Like does he go back to guy mode when he can, or is he pretty much in girl-mode throughout the game? looking at the NSFW pics on vndb he is even in girl mode in h-scenes lol. If he is basically just a girl with a penis and no breasts then meh, I will pass (if that is the case, it confuses me who they try to appeal to with a protaganist like this =D).

Well they were all said, I looked for this very thing myself, actually I watched the anime of White Album 2 (which also only covers introductory chapter) this got me searching for VNs, well WA2 closing chapter initially lol (and back playing VNs, I played KiraKira and some others years ago) meeting your exact criteria, I wanted a musician protagonist and ideally music as a key theme From my search the ones mentioned here are pretty much the only ones that were translated into English WA2 (Waiting patiently for the full translation) Symphonic Rain if u can handle the cutesy art style (I struggled with it a bit, not my cup of tea, in what world does Chris look 17!!!) KiraKira + Fandisc Quartett!! (Not played this but I did spot it, its in my list) Deardrops (same as above) There should definitely be more with music as the key theme, music always draws me in and makes a slice of life a lot more entertaining. E.g. Fuuka anime was terrible but I enjoyed it because it was about music (and the music part of it wasnt even done that well lol, well, it was entertaining but ridiculous)

I was thinking of trying Chaos;Head as I dont think the anime did it any justice whatsoever, indeed the protagonist is not really the same, but I see where you are coming from, I will probably try the VN at some point.

Heh, to be honest in Aekas route there isnt really much sexual harrasment it is: I am not too sure why the main point of discussion ended up being on harrasment, wasnt my intent -.-. The things I wanted to discuss was the points RE Nanjou and if others agreed with the issues I had with the game. I cant really call it overrated unless I play all the routes. But I just cannot get onboard with Nekoko looking like a 10 year old (especially given I know alot of H-Scenes are probably coming) and honestly I wish all the characters would look a bit more mature in this kind of story. It would atleast make it a bit less ridiculous, but that is eroge I guess. Altho the bullying thing did all feel a bit dumb to me anyway, I am in my mid 20s so maybe I am a bit old to take it seriously, idk (I dont feel like I would taken it more seriously as a 16 year old tho) Idk about the train thing, I am English and our culture was (historically atleast) similar in not making a fuss, but it doesnt really happen on the tube (altho some people claim it does) while I am sure it happens in Japan, I can only guess it is hugely over exaggerated in anime/eroge etc (I have never been to Japan tho).

Firstly I have not completed all routes only Aeka, I might do Mizuki also at some point, the other girl (the random fairy chick) is so loli I am not interested (tbh Aeka was also a bit too loli for my liking, especially considering the amount of h-scenes, which I could not enjoy, so I skipped most of them). Why Aeka first? Cos I heard her route was the best, if I launched into the VN knowing nothing I would have gone with Mizuki first. He saves Aeka twice at just the right moment, yea right... 2. Her earlier sex scenes were so abrubt, just like Okarin said, I mean seriously, she is a virgin (and even if she wasnt really) and she offers herself to MC that easily, I get she is troubled, but really 3. The teachers are seriously ridiculous, I mean no1 does anything to stop the bullying. More on this later, as it ties into discussion on Nanjou 4. The real icing on the cake for insulting my intelligence was near the end "How did we not think of this sooner, lets transfer/drop out of school". SERIOUSLY???!!!!! I was thinking the whole time, this is freaking dumb, why cant they just move away or even just transfer class lol, I thought there must be some serious reason they are at that school which I was going to find out (altho I couldnt think what it might be, but hey that is the writers job) There are probably more if I think about it, but this post is going to long enough as it is. I also didnt get what her game (Nanjou's) was with Kouhei, did she like him? It seems quite hinted, however this doesnt make sense if we consider the bad ends in the Aeka route, surely if she (Aeka) was gone and Nanjou liked him she would not still be bullying him, and would have acted on her feelings?? Ok we might say that this is because she knows he has been with Aeka, but this cant be the case as she still tries to get Aeka to break up with Kouhei, and by this point she knows as much about their relationship as she does in the bad end. Anyway enough ranting; What are you guys thoughts on this? PS: I am not saying the VN is terrible, but I am quite dissapointed by it. I didnt really find it emotionally moving in any way. Or particularly entertaining for that matter, and the only game whose ending credits I have been more relieved to see (albeit for a very different reason) is Starless (NEVER AGAIN!). Lack of other characters was another issue I had, actually an issue with alot of VN's to be fair.

Hey, yea I have had some recommendations for that VN already. And as I said to them, the main reason I have avoided it was that I saw the anime already. But I was convinced to give the VNs a go as well so they are in my list to play -.-. Based on the anime I would say Yuuji is not really the same, although I see what you are trying to say. I am quite surprised there are not more protags similar to Hikigaya, I guess maybe a protagonist like that can lead to a bit of a boring VN. Still, you would like to hope that it was easier to find a protagonist like that than a protagonist that is a r$pist, sadly not lol...
