  1. No... But I suddenly feel highly motivated to try it out. :3
  2. It's definitely slower/more demanding, as it has a lot of utilities, but the AV test didn't really specify what settings it used. On standard mode it would definitely be inferior, as it uses solely Qihoo's own AV engine. In maximum security mode it shouldn't really lag behind, but needs a strong PC if you're worried about it affecting performance. Also in my case it replaced Glary Utilities as a registry/disk cleaning tool, so it saved me from using additional software. (This reminded me I should clean my computer before it starts suffocating with dust... That can kill a PC better than any malware :p).
  3. 360 Total Security actually compiles Avira and Bitdefender apart of their own AV engine - in full-protection mode it should be pretty much as effective as it is possible, especially with free software. It's Chinese and some people suggest it spies on its users, but I don't think that's really the case. Also people, Windows Defender really sucks at detecting malware, don't rely on it. :s
  4. Both (although "human x pony" is not that numerous and most people in the fandom are admittedly uncomfortable about it). Along with sex between humanized MLP characters, furry-style anthro porn, etc, etc. Basically everything you can imagine can be found there.
  5. Sadly it's in Polish and I've never got the whole thing translated into English. I've written a report from the survey part of the study though, it lacks some of the most juicy details and misses all the theoretical stuff, but you might find it interesting: Sexually Themed Fanart in MLP FiM Fandom Sorry for derailing the thread BTW.
  6. I'm very proud of it. I'm actually trying to expand it into a PHD project nowadays, with mixed results, but I should be able to pull it off with sheer persistence (even if I'm too dumb to create an actual academic career for myself). :3
  7. That would pretty much be lovecraftian porn. Is lovecraftian porn a thing? That's like the definition of fetishism though. Sexual fixation on an object or theme than doesn't even have to be in any way connected to sex for an average person. It's often hard to identify where some of them come from (meaning when and how you pick them up), but it's only normal that most of them won't do anything for you. I wrote my master's thesis on fan pornography, mostly in My Little Pony fandom and Sir, I can tell you, there are literally no limits on what things people are capable of fapping to.
  8. Eh, Real Person Fan Fiction... I never get that stuff... :s
  9. It's never too late to add something to that kind of topic and rekindle the flame.
  10. I really dig this artstyle, the screenshots look absolutely gorgeous. If it's supposed to be well written too it definitely has my attention.
  11. Well, while it wasn't my idea, I don't think the emote would have to be this explicit to serve the suggested purpose. I imagine the actual implementation being something much closer to "hot" than "******* all over the screen". ... or at least I hope that such mild variant would be satisfying enough for most of those interested.
  12. Oh well, the e-mail adress not working would probably explains a few things. With Tay himself, I've figured out that much since registering on forums. Although I was never in a hurry, so I was less concerned with "timely" answer and more with receiving any feedback at all, from anyone. ;p As we're on the topic of feedback, tyvm for yours. Probably as soon as I'm done with all the annoying university deadlines plaguing me right now, I'll start setting things up.
  13. As much as I believe you're right I don't think I'm brave enough to do without any AV software. It would freak me out with all the stuff I do on my PC. I actually quite like my 360 Total Security, it has a few cool utilities outside of being a straight-up anti-virus. Might affect performance on weaker set-ups, but I'm now benefiting from a monster rig my brother have left behind when moving out, so CPU power is never an issue. :3 BTW, the said gamer's monster rig would most likely cry every night if it was sentient, being used primarily for writing in Word and displaying 2D anime ladies.
  14. Hello, fellow newbie! Hope you'll have fun. We have a huge H-scene discussion right now, feel free to join us.
  15. Well, it's not that I really gave up, but I realized that trying to become a frontpage contributor with how relatively little experience I have with NVs leads to exactly the problem you mentioned - I'm still pretty much an outsider here and probably have a different perspective than most people on Fuwa. I'm much more comfortable with presenting this content on my own accord - if someone finds it worth reposting to the main site, obviously that would be awesome - I don't think the internal blog formula would prevent that, especially if I follow the FuwaReviews format with reviews and keep appropriate quality with other texts. Different perspective can be an asset of course, but once I realized how the community here works it became clear to me that I should rather prove that I can create valuable content first. I don't really have an ambition to start a external blog, I have a feeling that if I can do something for western VNs it's exactly here, among people that actually care about the medium. A small, but selected audience might be an audience that truly matters in the end. And well, initially I actually wrote to Tay and FuwaReviews about this through e-mail, after I decided to ditch the OtakuDiary site briefly mentioned earlier, circa two months ago. I never got any responce. But I think that's good because it gave me the time to think things through and channel my graphomania towards a more reasonable goal - we'll see where it leads me, I'm pretty sure I'll have fun doing it anyways. :]
  16. Well... I usurp myself the right to be unreasonably romantic and skip the explicit content unless I think it's a crucial part of the experience. I simply like the romance in VNs and mostly don't care about porn, so I often don't mind it being gone. It might be a cultural thing, but I think it's more about personal preference. But I also think that the more choice people have when it goes to how they want to experience a story the better - people should not be forced to receive incomplete product because other might find some parts of it offensive/uncomfortable. But I also don't see a reason why all-age versions shouldn't exist or should be seen as necessarily inferior. There might exist a way to balance everyone interests, but that would need major distribution platforms giving up on censorship (won't happen any time soon).
  17. Hmmm... The screenshots from your signature... What game are they from? :3

  18. I see, I guess the scripts are basically interchangable anyways, but this use surprised me a bit. :] I have one more question though - the google store page says it's an otome game, but isn't the heroine female? How is it otome then?
  19. I thus name you Sir NowItsAngeTime of Fuwa, Knight of Hentai, Defender of Fapping. Speaking for the silent majority that takes full advantage of their favorite medium. :3
  20. Most of it is complaining though. I have a feeling that those REALLY interested in the topic might be more reluctant to speak up.
  21. Wait, is yandere normally spelled with katakana? Is it the same for other anime slang terms? Sorry for OT question, I've recently started learning Japanese so I'm curious. Going to add your game to my tablet's "to read" list btw. ^^
  22. I will add maybe one more thing: I think there are eroge titles where sex is the topic of a legitimate narrative and even numerous H-scenes can complement it in a relatively natural way. For all the shit School Days received over the years, nearly every sex scene there shows up for a reason (even if that reason is simply the protagonist being a spineless moron) and what's even more important, have real consequences for the story. So, IMHO, it can be done right even though extremely explicit content, it's just much simpler for the developer to add some H-content as fapping material and leave it at that.
  23. I'm a pretty wierd VN reader as I don't really care for H-scenes, at least hentai as such simply doesn't do it for me and is usually inserted in ways that rather hurts than add to the narrative. Same goes to milder fanservice in many VNs and anime, it's simply so superficial and dumb that it takes me out of the experience. I think that its just as much about culture as it is about negative tropes within the genre and looking for broad appeal - some people expect fanservice and actively look for it, even outside of straight up "adult" titles, so it ends up being pushed into everything. Still, I'm not a prude, especially when sexual content uses well written text rather than just explicit visuals and has clear reason for being there, I can enjoy it a lot. Especially yuri, as I find it much cutter and more interesting than straight sex scenes. In one of my favorite yuri VNs, Love Ribbon, theres a pretty explicit masturbation scene, that still manages to fit very well with the theme (a lesbian discovering her sexuality) and acts as an important plot device. When it's done like that, I can't complain, but it's a bit rare IMO.
  24. Haha, thanks and I'm definitely avoiding Sakura games, less because of their infamy and more because of that sex-doll aesthetic that puts me off completely. I've heard that Sakura Dungeon was actually somewhat decent, but it's a dungeon crawler with VN elements, so I'm not ever sure if it counts. So yeah, definitely not what I want to write about.
  25. It was impossible to keep the surprise factor as late in the line as I played it, but it was still a great experience. Maybe better this way, because I didn't get depressed knowing to some extent what's waiting for me (and I'm quite prone to that). If there was more variation with choices or bit more depth in the meta-narrative, it could've been a masterpiece, but it's still very notable. Also the business model is pretty admirable, with the whole game being free and that "donate to us" DLC. I'm really, really happy that it was able to get this much attention and probably a very decent amount of money, it really shown the good side if VNs to a lot of people on Steam and hopefully will encourage other ambitious projects. Now want the author to make a straight up romance VNs with the same characters, I will pay money to see them all get a happy ending. Those girls deserved better, even the evil one.
