I'm sad Setsumi lost to Shizune, and also surprised, as I thought Shizune was the least favorite KS girl. Oh well. Sion won 104 vs 96. Phew that was close. Haven't read Konozora, so I don't know how good a rival the Kanako girl was, but damn. Natsumi lost to Mion huh... it was to be expected, though it was just bad luck to be paired with a beast like Mion Sachi and Touka also lost, essentially wiping out all Sharin no Kuni girls. Ririko was paired against Kurisu, one of the strongest candidates ever, so yeah, that wasn't even a fight. Mio got on top of Nemu in the end. Interesting. I thought Mio wasn't particularly liked among LB fans. Chronos lost to some Fate girl that I don't even know. Sad times for the cute time goddess Finally, Sanae vs Misuzu. Yeah of course Sanae would win, like Misuzu ever stood a chance against her. It's painful nonetheless, because Misuzu is a sweetheart. Now I regret not having submitted some candidates when I had the chance. Meh, they would've lost during this first or the second round anyway We all know who is going to win, don't we?

The Sexy-Cute-Beautiful triangle chart
Thyndd replied to TexasDice's topic in The Coliseum of Chatter
Hmm the thing is, for me "cute" and "sexy" are ways of behaving, while "beautiful" is a (subjective) physical attribute. I feel like we are not in the same wavelength That is not to say that I never refer to a girl as cute just by her physical appearance, but you know, most of the times what I really mean is beautiful... -
How do you refer to fuwa members by name?
Thyndd replied to UnlimitedMoeWorks's topic in Members' Lounge
I tend to write the full usernames if I haven't had much interaction with the person in question... as if it were more respectful that way, I dunno. I guess that shortening the name of someone who I barely know is considered rude in my mind. For other users that I know better, sometimes I do shorten them. That's how I address them in my head as well -
The guy with an eden* avatar, aka me, seconds this. It's an utsuge though, so maybe not what he's looking for.

Unlimited Chat Works - Random Talk
Thyndd replied to allpukmaster's topic in The Coliseum of Chatter
So I witnessed a car accident while driving on the road. Fortunately it seems that all the people involved were uninjured or suffered very minor injuries, and they got out of their cars on their own. Anyway, you know how this works, it's when you experience something that you start thinking about it; and so, I was looking at accident statistics, fatalities, causes... Leaving aside the obvious, which is people who drive drunk or high, the most likely cause are distractions, either circumstancial (looking at your phone, having a heated conversation...) or habitual (not checking your mirrors, not using your blinkers...). Then, according to most sources I looked into, there is speeding. However, I have a slight problem as to how that is usually phrased. "Speed kills", they say, but I'm not so convinced. Yes, obviously it's just physics that the greater the speed, the more momentum the vehicle will have, therefore the greater the braking distance, the greater the grip your tires will require to turn into a corner, bla bla... but, honestly, I don't think people will usually drive at speeds so high that this is a factor, at least most of the times, perhaps with the exception of those times when the weather is bad, but no so bad that they feel threatened. You know, when the road is slightly wet and it still highly reduces the friction coeficient, but people are not aware of this. Anyway, in most scenarios, I believe that people will generally drive at speeds that they feel comfortable with. At those speeds, they very rarely will lose control of the car; and yet, "speeding" kills. Why? Well, maybe (just my theory, feel free you guys to provide evidence that negates this) because it's not the act of going over the speed limit, but rather, the difference between your speed and the traffic flow. The traffic flow will mostly go at the speed limit, therefore if you are to surpass it, you'll create a difference in speed and increase the risk of having an accident. Oh great, so let's just increase the speed limit and the number of accidents should go down, right? Well, yes to some degree, but not quite. The thing is, as I said, the speed people drive will be the one people feel confident with in the first place, and the one enforced by the signals second. So while raising the speed limit might cause that more drivers match the speed of those other drivers who would go over the limit on a regular basis, and that should apparently diminish the std deviation of speed in the traffic flow somewhat, it doesn't account for those other people who go regularly BELOW the limit. In fact, it'd make the difference in speeds between these people and the traffic flow bigger, negating the equalization we achieved with the first measure. And that's the thing, going far below the speed limit is as dangerous as speeding, but much, much less regulated (yes, there is a lower limit at least in my country, but way lower than higher limit). I think it should be enforced that people go no less than 10mph under the speed limit (for regular cars, that is), and not doing so should entail very similar tickets to those you can get for speeding. Maybe an unpopular opinion, as many people would instinctively claim that "they have every right to go as slow as they want, but people should not go as fast as they want cause it seems very risky", but we should legislate based on reason, all the more so if it can safe lives. As for references I could find on the internet, well, it's a controversial topic, but I found articles like this https://sites.psu.edu/siowfa15/2015/09/18/is-driving-faster-safer/ that seems to back this up. So yeah, in my opinion and to sum it up, if you wanna lessen the impact "speed" has as an accident cause, focus more on equalizing the speeds. This can be achieved by raising the upper limit to one most people feel comfortable with (reducing the number of speeding offenders while keeping the limits fairly safe from a physics standpoint), and raising the lower limit so it's much closer the upper limit (forcing the turtles to keep up with the rest of drivers). -
Welcome virgin, to Hogwarts. I am a wizard Don't worry about your English. If people manage to understand me, you'll do just fine. I also second the motion of creating a VNDB profile. It would really come in handy especially when you're looking for recommendations!

Still better than your average linear algebra lesson at uni Oh boy, well then, good luck. Do not rush it, you risk dropping it a second time, and it would be a shame. Even if this is a medium-length VN, it took me even more time to finish than other 50+ hours VNs

I can still hear the damn OST playing in my head Now I'm sad. Gotta get a chicken sandwich brb. Most people say that Ever17 is worth it just for the true route, aka Coco's route. I can see that, though if the other routes rub you the wrong way and you find yourself wanting to commit suicide, then I probably would advice against it Anyway, in my experience one of the things that made the more tiresome parts of Ever17 more bearable is the theorycrafting. There are quite some clues along the way as to try to guess what's going on there, and it was really fun for me to try and put the pieces together. Maybe you could do the same? Good luck with the rest of the VN. I believe you still have Tsugumi and You's routes left? (Edit: not Sora's, obviously, I messed up)

Gosh, the internet is serious business, isn't it? I also approve.

Hey look at that, everything's fine. I'm glad for you. I figured you didn't do anything too crazy to deserve a permanent ban. It's not like I've been around Fuwa for so long, but I've been in forums that had nazimods and I definitely noticed it in a way shorter time period. Fuwa is actually pretty chill. I must say though, you have a peculiar way to deal with anger issues No more spamming the weeb letter from now on buddy.

So I don't know if this is a confession proper or more of a shower thought. I guess it has a little of both. So do you remember that anime style music video by Porter Robinson, Shelter? That was around 2 years ago, and it was the first time I had a realization. A realization of which I was reminded a second time by the anime of the Bunny Girl senpai that is currently airing. That clip made me think about how being literally alone in the world must be. You see... I one of those people that is always confident to say that enjoys solitude. While I'm not exactly antisocial, I'm also not an extrovert. Well, at least until you get to know me a little better. I only have a couple of close friends, and yeah, they know that I'm actually a memer at heart, on top of a little bit crazy Anyway, I'm most definitely a person who wouldn't even mind if I was casted away in a deserted island as long as I had enough resources to get by. And that's why this hit me so hard. If you are literally alone in the world, nothing you do makes sense anymore. In an empty world where no one could ever acknowledge you, life is meaningless. I like to say that I'm independent, that I don't give a fuck about what other people might think of me and I don't seek anyone's approval. Yeah, that sounds cool and all... And honestly it's not that it's completely false... It's just that taken to the extreme, albeit an nearly impossible one, it doesn't hold true anymore. Even if you are an independent person, you are only fine with it because you are still part of the world. There's always hope that someone will accept you as you are, without having to go out of your way to be someone you don't want to be. Being literary all by yourself though... In the end I guess we are social animals, and there's no changing that. On the other hand, that also means that just having one important person by your side can make the world for you, which you know, it's quite the romantic thought forgive my cheesiness.

This. Wtf happened? If I've ever seen shitposts in Fuwa they were definitely not yours

The plot unravels. What a reveal. I'm getting chuunige vibes

Oh come on man, and why exactly would that be some kind of embarrasing first VN that you need to confess to having read? What a red herring. If I'm asked one VN from 2011 the first one I'd say would be Grisaia, but...
-
It'd better not be Grisaia

Hmm the thing with this hint is, if I haven't played it myself I can't find much use for it I'd much rather know what "ing" stands for, though maybe that's too big of a hint. Can you at least say whether it's part of the title or something else?

[NSFW] What are some of your favorite H scenes in VNs?
Thyndd replied to NowItsAngeTime's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Welp I consider myself fortunate for getting some juicy recommendations there Katawa Shoujo I read it, one of my first VNs, like for a lot of other people. Yeah, it's true that it doesn't have the same absurd number of japanese hentai cliches, but it isn't a japanese VN to start with so... I believe that it is indeed possible, if unattested... I mean, technically sex will always be sex, but there's no need to fall into all the over the top exaggerations that are typically associated with the hentai genre (which at the same time are different from the western porn cliches, interestingly enough). But, as I was saying earlier, I guess I'm supposed to think that the way it's done it's actually the way it sells better. That's why I genuinely wonder how many of you find your typical hentaish h-scene hot, in comparison with and over a more romantic, sober depiction of sex. I also believe I'm not exactly minority in that regard... which leads me to think that it's more of a japanese thing. -
Oh I think I got it. https://vndb.org/v18636
-
Dang it Hmm... https://vndb.org/v7316 Which you may or may not consider a proper VN, so... If that's not it either, then my last hope would be https://vndb.org/v8038 but honestly I don't think anyone would read that as their first VN.
-
I thought of that one, but wouldn't it be considered an actual VN by most people? It actually has a plot, believe it or not... I'll go with some pure nukiges. https://vndb.org/v5657 or https://vndb.org/v5295
-
Hmm, challenge accepted. If it was one of the more "mainstream" VNs I guess you would've mentioned it as your first without hesitation. That must mean that you don't consider it to be a "proper" VN. In that case, maybe... a parody VN, like Kusoge for example? Or maybe some lewd nukige you'd rather not include in your list, in the same fashion people don't usually include pornos in their watched movies list There are just too many options out there to narrow it down to one. May I have a hint?
