It's not really that complex, but Utawarerumono's mechanics definitely get better after the first game and are just great VNs in general. The first game definitely leaves something to be desired, but the other ones are pretty polished standard Tactics Ogre-type gameplay.

I got Steins;Gate 0 for Christmas, so I've been playing that among other things. It's interesting, but it feels a little fan fiction-y with the premise so far. Also, the art definitely seems different. Some characters look great and some not so much. The music is still pretty great and seems consistent with the first game, at least. Hopefully, it turns out to be a worthy sequel. I've avoided everything news and review wise for the VN and anime, so I could go into this one with a clean slate and I don't really know what to expect, but I am enjoying it so far.

Does anything special happen? I was hoping I won't need to hit it 20 times in a row to get the true ending

Can't decide which of this VN's to play during the Holidays...

Oh okay, yeah, the first one starts on Christmas. I was just wondering about the Latter tale, because that's the one I'm on and I was wondering if I should play it before Christmas. -
I've been slowly going through it too. The battles and batting sections are pretty funny. I can never seem to hit the ball more than like 4 times. I wonder how long you can keep the combo going. Otherwise, I just end up hitting a cat and getting yelled at Some of the little touches in it are pretty great. It makes me smile a lot. Key VNs always have the best male characters too.

How Christmasy is the Latter Tale? -
I started Psycho-Pass. (I got the vita version for only $15 brand new!) It seems to be it's own contained story, so it could be of interest to anyone looking for a plot driven, mystery, starring grown ups, taking place in a futuristic dystopia - type thing, . It has a "TIPS" section going over any terminology you don't know or might have forgotten and really does feel like it's own standalone thing. Oh, okay, that doesn't seem far fetched then.

He estimated it took him 38 for MuvLuv AND Alternative. That just seems extremely fast to me. I rarely skip the narration, but still.

I hope someday I can understand Soukoku no Arterial. It looks so good... Welcome to the forum!

Muv Luv has taken me waaay longer than 30 hours and I'm not even finished. (I'm close though and this is getting pretty epic.) I do play through things pretty leisurely, I guess. Do most people not even listen to the whole audio line before advancing?

I think he was saying thank God that Japan gets a free pass, because no one wants those kind of articles or another Rapelay situation. The "M'kay post" was sassy, but you were kinda rude to him too. Blocking a regular over something like that seems like a waste. He might be able to help you find the best VN you ever played. It's obviously on you guys, but I'd shake hands and try to get along.

Dang Is the bond of marriage the true ending? or closest thing to one anyway? I should probably just go for that and then move on huh? Because, there's other things I'd like to get to that I'm likely to enjoy a lot more.
-
Well, I just got the "crossing paths" ending in Root Letter. I hope the other ones are better. The whole thing has been kind of a disappointment so far. It is really relaxing and roaming around an unknown town trying to solve a mystery can be fun, but I thought it would be so much better.

What a bunch of bullshit. If it really is because some countries wanna outlaw lolis then a simple "Sorry, this game is not available in your region" would do better than screwing over everybody.

I've gotten myself in way over my head with how many VNs I've started. At this point I'm just trying to make sure I stick with them. I can't wait to be out of this crazy rotation and just be able to concentrate on one or two at a time.
-
Oh yeah, there's that Code Realize fandisc called Wintertide Miracles that probably fits the bill. It's not coming out in English until next year, but for anyone who knows Japanese or stumbles upon this list next year it may be of interest.

This is gonna be awesome. I love Christmas. I should probably start Yukizakura or Toradora in the next day or so, so I can go through as many as possible before Christmas.
-
Now every time I see something with Sakura in it I think it's one of those stupid Winged Cloud ones. How is Yukizakura though? You enjoyed it?

Remember 11? Turn your heater off and play by candlelight for best immersion. Edit: Actually don't play that. It's kinda despair inducing.

I bought The Witcher 3 when it first came out and I'm still playing it. Trying to beat every mission my first time through was probably a bad idea. Anyway, I just finally beat Hearts of Stone and am just starting Blood and Wine. I wonder how long it will take me to beat Cyberpunk 2077. It's pretty much the only western game I'm looking forward to, but I'm really looking forward to it.

Wow, you guys are getting me pretty excited to read this. I thought it looked fun, but for some reason I didn't think it was supposed to be very good. I'll probably start this next once I can finish something else. I've been jumping back and forth between so many things that soon I should be finishing a lot of stuff. I'll report back soon.

That sucks. How did you end up here in the first place if you didn't like VNs? I don't mean it in a rude way, but it just sounds kinda sad to me. Wherever you end up you should get to be yourself and do the things you enjoy though. If you're into anime and videogames and stuff I really wouldn't be surprised if someday you enjoy VNs more. I used to always hate reading, but loved videogames and anime, but since I've started reading books more and more I've found that VNs are kinda just the perfect blend of all my favorite things. Maybe help keep the off topic keep going if you get bored and wanna stop in from time to time. Either way I hope you find the place you belong and keep working to be a better person. /salute

I actually got mine in that humble bundle deal awhile back. I guess I didn't really pay enough attention, because I was kinda disappointed that I ended up with a few all ages versions. That really doesn't sound too bad though. When it's just removing scenes there's not much incentive, but if the new scenes are any good I might even prefer this version. (I just hate how some VNs the H scenes feel so random and kinda tacked on.) Thank you though. I think I'll definitely give it a shot.
-
Do you like it? I have it on Steam for some reason, but I think it's the all ages version. I wonder if I should even bother with this one.
