I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It's a pretty interesting city near most of my family, so I like that. I'm not too into the night life or attractions here, though, so much of it is wasted on me. The Mall of America can be fun sometimes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_islands_by_area http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borneo http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kota_Kinabalu did I get it right? Wikipedia so silly

I'm a friendly person, I think. I try to be really nice and genuine and I don't suck at communicating with people. But what I hate is that I am very poor at going out and making connections. Every single friend that I have is in some ways a relic of the past (elementary school when I didnt have such a personality) or a highly outgoing person, who makes the effort to create the bond. I love talking to people and sharing feelings, but due to this weakness in creating connections, I have been unable to find another introvert in person. I love all my friends. They are wonderful people. But I am bothered that I cannot seem to find the finesse to create my own friendships with the people similar to me (I love talking to socially weak introverts, because I understand much of their pain). Obviously that's not all that I dont like about myself. I wish I had an active passion/hobby that required skill-building, or that I was less lazy and more work-oriented. But I think this one is one that lots here might be able to sympathize with, after reading this thread. Has anyone felt the same way and found a way to defeat this monster? Is it really down to changing who I am in order to make friends better?

I also wonder how the Japanese drink tea. I personally am a *fake* tea drinker (meaning i drink tea with milk and sugar all over because I like hot sweet liquids) but I think that tea is a very interesting drink in general. I know something of the varied styles and methods of preparing and drinking it, but I'm more likely to embarrass myself by asking a misguided question. So I guess what I want to ask is what is your understanding of tea within Japanese culture, from your experience?

Mario Kart was such a good game, so that's sad to hear (despite not having played a wii or nintendo game for a good 9 months)

Where do you find your images for all of your avatars!?

This was sweet. I really think that with proper communication, things like this can definitely work out. I don't really know each of you, so I can't say exactly, but I think it's as Kagu said, sometimes it's important to make your way in life. Or maybe it's not, but as far as I'm concerned, I dont have the right to judge you two even if that were the case. Good luck, and I hope you look at the future with the audacity to create ever better days.

Haha, I definitely appreciate this. I do realize that it's a transient thing, but awareness isnt the best solution. And part of the reason I think I feel it is because I Live next to a lot of people, but so often I feel alone, even near them (because I dont necessarily 'click' with a lot of people in my dorm situation, so we just kinda dont do stuff... maybe I should be more personable. Either way I really like the suggestion of walking and that sounds awesome, except that I live in Minneapolis, so when it's not -50 degrees windchill during the day (jk, normally like 10 to -10), all I get to see is a concrete monster if I walked for a few blocks... It's odd though, I always considered it a byproduct of loneliness, but your understanding of it seems different. Or maybe we are just different, but I appreciate your ideas Also, Down seems to have an idea of what I generally think about. I am trying to use this time to do homework to maximise my time efficiency, but sometimes that feels so hardcore 0.0 So I guess I'll try to be a little calmer and more understanding, give myself some down time and do some homework.

I guess I knew that it was a debate, but I've never faltered on my belief that anime is "art" (and more probably... or at least it's different than what most people experience when they look at a painting). After my first Visual Novel experience (Katawa Shoujo), I was also completely aware that vns are/can be art as well... While I bitterly resent derping around with definitions of art, for the sake of the argument I will say this. For me, it depends on the level of intention. Technically, a piece of art should be intentionally a piece of art, but I've always found something haunting in art that isnt trying to be art. So what I'm saying is that I know it probably can all be classified as art, but I dont feel horrible in saying that some is, almost objectively, better art. For me, something like FLCL has this unimaginable artistic element to it that just makes it amazing. Something in the show is intentionally out there, but in this way that widens my view of it all and makes me feel something odd... idk, I never was a big fan of describing art or arguing about it, but anime definitely is art. (same too for vns and manga). Then again, a lot of things are "art". I'm just particularly touched by these particular ones u.u Watching Kare Kano right now makes me aware of this so much more.

What do you guys do when you feel ennui. It's kind of a lazyness, an unwillingness to commit to a story, a movie, or a book. Sometimes I get in this mood where I just cant find it in myself to do the things I normally like, and it feels like I'm wasting time, but then I always spiral into this reasoining train into way too deep stuff ["I'm bored, but I dont want to do anything --> does that mean I'm wasting my life? ---> isnt the most important thing having fun? ---> what about stuff that makes you feel other things that arent necessarily "fun" ---> I need to find a passion ---> I'm just wasting time and I definitely thought about this last time I felt like this"] So I guess there probably isn't any answer, but I guess I wanted to know if other people sometimes felt the same way... Like you dont want to do the things you like to do. And I dont want to watch or read something because it'll be a waste of a goo story in such a mood... u.u maybe I should just go big and do it anyway >,>

Favorite Video Games of all Time (Excluding VNs)
arakura replied to solidbatman's topic in Gaming Talk
Ummm, There was a time when I loved Runescape, so for how long that lasted I might as well list it (haters gonna hate, most of us have been there though) -Diablo II LoD -Fire Emblem (hard to choose between the game boy advance one and the GCN one) -Yoshi's Island (the SNES one(s)) -Donkey Kong Country -MarioKart (N64 is amazing + nostalgic, but the mechanics of Wii were very refined and also great) Extra: Super Smash Bros Melee And Starcraft Brood War (II is also good) -Dumped a LOT of time into Leauge of Legends and had good fun with it, but I dont think I would list it on my top in terms of quality at all... I just dont play many games haha This is by no means the list I wanted to see, but I didnt have the machinery growing up to play Playstation games, and I didnt understand what I wanted until too late to get into The Final Fantasy/Tales of/Jrpg/Rpg titles of glory. Sadness u.u -
omg ^ I do that so much too! But now I'll feel like an awkward fake person if I do it here after you said that was what you do... u.u I do the u.u , the >,> , the 0.0 , the ~.~ also, ~`~ <----- Harry Potter without his glasses on. I'm sure it'll become a thing one of these days. Juan of these days... And while I dont use it much (cause I dont like being dirty >,>) I think "Gimme dat butt" is pretty hilarious. (e.gwhen chasing someone in a game of LoL or what have you) (/'.')/ \('.'\)
