Good place to check if its for anime/manga etc would be Bakabt. Everything on there is 100% safe as it's all screened before a normal user can download it.
-
For Windows 7 (not sure on the rest): Right click the folder -> Properties -> Customize (last tab on right) -> Change icon -> Select picture. It doesn't put in a folder shape though, so you'll have to make the pictures yourself if you want them like mine, or just google "(anime's name) icons". The files have to be ico files (converticon.com to make pics into icons) 512 x 512 or under to work. Just looking up anime icon packs on deviant art will probably take care of all your needs. You should keep all your icons in one folder btw, cause if they're moved or deleted the picture reverts to normal. As for BakaBT, I have an account but I just stick to anime that I can freeleech, and when I can't I just copy the url, log out, paste the url and then download the torrent. Only way I know of the keep a decent ratio and still download a ton of stuff.

So I decided to give downloading my anime a try (stuck with Nyaa and BakaBT, as I've used both before for an assortment of things), and I'm not gonna lie.... The organization is quite pleasing.

Saya No Uta:Extended Thoughts and Questions (SPOILERS)
DawnWolf replied to babiker's topic in Visual Novel Talk
If we're talking immortality I'd only consider it if there was an out clause; ergo if I could die say whenever humanity goes extinct or the sun blows everything up. Because lets face it, regardless of how advanced we get, when the sun says fuck it, we're done. Virtual reality won't exist when you consider our solar system will be dust... I wouldn't choose to be like Saya probably. Think about it; whats the point of becoming a superior being? To rise above others or accomplish a task right? Well, as a slime tentacle monster, I assure you you won't be rising above anyone, as the second you make a public appearance you'll be either killed or dissected. And I really don't know if there is anything that requires you to become what Saya is- less you have a life long dream involving real life tentacle rape. -
Meh, I can understand why. While personally I don't think VNs or pretty much any pornographic content could ever make real women a moot point to me, I can see how people can use them to cope with both their sexual and emotional frustrations, and then not see the point in switching over to actual people. Although claiming VNs are the cause is a little much. If anything is to blame I'd say it's the general stigmatism associated with sex, and by that I mean that sex = kids = ruined life. Not to say kids are evil or anything, but the time and investment (both monetary and emotional) they require really turn their appeal down. If you want to get ahead in life, you probably don't want kids for quite awhile.

Saya No Uta:Extended Thoughts and Questions (SPOILERS)
DawnWolf replied to babiker's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Though we can only guess, the ending epilogue with Black Lagoon wannabe chick more or less gives off the impression that it's more of a merger or metamorphosis. Her body is changing unwillingly, as seen by her cutting off her arm to temporarily halt the change, as is her mind. She still has her memories and old thoughts, but you can infer the thing inside her is swaying her temperament, as old Ryoko couldn't stand anything to do with Ogai, yet at the end there she is praising him as a genius. I dunno, felt like brainwashing to me. -
Saya No Uta:Extended Thoughts and Questions (SPOILERS)
DawnWolf replied to babiker's topic in Visual Novel Talk
For the record Saya didn't have to eat humans to live. Do recall that when they were at the abandoned building Saya specifically states that they'll have to survive off her hunting the wild animals nearby, joking about how she has a lot of practice with it, a reference to her time at the hospital when she hunted down all the stray cats... and ate a baby, but thats besides the point. We only have confirmation of Saya ever having eaten two humans (Oumi and the baby), and even then the baby may actually have just been a rumor. -
If you enjoyed Fate/Stay Night you'd probably like Tsukihime (it's predecessor), although be warned it's older than Fate and has no voice acting and little music because of it. I ended up playing the game while listening to one of my music playlists to compensate. EDIT: Also I think it's pretty cool you have your VNs on their own disk. Thats something I haven't seen before... Also that's the first use of Windows 8 that has actually looked decent to me. Lol nice setup

Surprised how many people actually download their anime. I've always just watched a version hosted online for fear of the viruses torrents tend to bring with them. In fact VNs are one of the few examples of things I've used torrents for.

Saya No Uta:Extended Thoughts and Questions (SPOILERS)
DawnWolf replied to babiker's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Indeed... In real life, most of us would find the act of rape and cannibalism to be atrocious and inexcusable. To find these things as such is the result of a life time of societal mental training, essentially it's the result of the morals we've been taught from birth. Yet in Saya no Uta, we're put into a situation in which even though we are against these things to begin with... we can somehow find them justifiable by the end. Did anyone actually root against Saya and Fuminori at the end? I know I didn't... and that scares me. In the context of the game, my morals were bent and twisted until I was on the opposite side of issues I've never even considered debatable. What I think the game was going for was to show people how easily our views and beliefs can be changed. In the eyes of Fuminori, the immoral became moral, and the insane became sane. It's an excellent way of showing how sanity is, in fact, subjective to the viewer. And given the right stimulus, anyone can be driven into thinking monstrous acts are normal. That is the true terror this game seeks to inspire in my opinion. -
After reading this weeks chapter of Magi yesterday morning, one of the recommended manga on the side caught my attention... Reimei no Arcana. Honestly, I really liked the name so I gave it a shot. ...Ended up marathoning through the whole thing. I thought it was really interesting if you're into the whole medieval political romance thing like myself (Game of Thrones from what I hear). Though there were some things I didn't like... good series overall. 53 chapters of about 50 pages each, took about seven hours to read. Oh also, I probably don't need to mention this, but as with most romance, this is a shoujo... so if you don't like the story being mainly told for chicks from the perspective of a chick... might not wanna read this.

Tried it three times: Lucy from Elfen Lied... took about 20 questions Yosuke from Persona 4.... 30 questions Saya from Saya no Uta? 12... God damn, not bad. EDIT: Beat him on try 5. He got me when I tried to get him to guess Riven. He couldn't figure out Sakura Matou from F/SN, though he guessed Rin several times.

Does anyone else think the Summer is looking boring?
DawnWolf replied to Clephas's topic in Anime/Manga Talk
Another Summer, another year without a new To Aru Majutsu/Kagaku no Index/Railgun season. Also where da Durarara season 2 at. The wait... killing me. -
I've been an Anime/Manga/JRPG Otaku since I was a kid. Around the time I was transitioning from Elementary to Middle school I discovered online means of watching anime... and then went on a rampage and started watching a bunch of stuff, from Elfen Lied to Air Gear. I watched a loooooooooooot of different shows, case in point I've had three different instances of watching what I thought was a new (to me) anime, only to discover an episode or two in that I marathoned through it as a kid. One of the shows I watched was Fate/Stay Night (this, as all aforementioned titles, was before the dub). I thought it was alright, nothing special at all though, so I kinda just forgot about it. I watched the dub with a friend in High school, but that was about it. I knew it had a VN, and I didn't really care since I figured it'd be just like that anime. I knew of the other routes but figured they were just slightly altered endings, and as such not worth my time. Then last year that same friend kept bugging me to watch Fate/Zero with him... so eventually I did. Absolutely loved how dark it was compared to the norm (Gen Urobuchi <3). One thing that really piqued my interest was Sakura. They imply some things in Fate/Zero about her, things I was curious about. So I decided during the last December break that I would read the VN to answer my questions. Read Fate, liked it, was better than the anime and it satisfied my innate perversion, but it was nothing to write home about. Then I got to UBW and HF.... and like everyone else got hooked :S.

What genre/description etc do you look for/avoid?
DawnWolf replied to TheFantasm's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I like darker stories, particularly things that, for lack of a better term, are fucked up. For this reason I'm pretty accepting about most things in VNs (and books/anime/movies as well). Rape, murder, NTR, gore... doesn't really matter so long as it has an impact on the story. Beyond that I like mysteries. There have been many a time when I've awoken those unfortunate enough to sleep in the same area as me from my, and I quote, "I FUCKING CALLED IT" screams of victory when a mystery is unraveled. I tend to play games (outside of MMOs and such) for story, so art isn't that big a deal to me. But... I have my limits. I have very difficult times playing games from the 90s, the art just makes me cringe when compared to more recent VNs. I enjoy comedy and I like light hearted stories also, but they just... irritate me whenever theres no real conflict outside of "do I want OMG to die for happiness 1 or OMG to die for happiness 2?". This is why I haven't finished Muv Luv. I really liked some of the comedy and the atmosphere, but without any major conflict I just felt unmotivated to continue it (got as far as right before the hot springs). It's also one of the reasons I loved Clannad, due to having a really good balance of tragedy and comedy in it's generally positive setting. What don't I like? Uhh... that's hard. I'm into most everything. The only thing I can really think of is Yaoi, and that's just because I lack a preference for men :S. I actually really enjoy romance though.Maybe simplistic harems? But even then if the story has an interesting concept I don't tend to mind (EX Rosario X Vampire). Oh... if a slice of life-esque work doesn't have intriguing drama or tragedy it tends to bore me, but good romance can make up for that... meh, I think you get the point. I like just about anything I read. Just have a preference for darker plots. -
Finished Saya no Uta. Crazy stuff, ending 1 and 2 were really good, crazy, but a nice love story at the same time. Ending 3 though... well they had to get a bad ending somewhere. Honestly the game wasn't really scary (outside of a few really tense moments early on), so much as it was creepy and twisted. I especially thought Yuminori's character development over the course of time was astonishing. Good game, Gen Urobuchi too good.

Had the urge to play something really dark at 3am in the morning, so I started up Saya no Uta since everyone mentions it when it comes to dark stories.... Wow. Just got ending one and all I can say is that's not what I expected. Looking forward to continuing through the rest. Though I have to wonder

Yeahhhhh, If we're talking PS3/Wii/360 as current gen, emulation isn't actually a problem. Current day gaming PC's are more than adequately equipped with enough power to emulate all of the above, the problem lies in the system architecture. Well... not the Wii, we've had that 100% emulated for years now. But the PS3... the cell processor is a freaking nightmare. Theres a reason that companies had such horrible and buggy games the first few years the PS3 came out, that being because no one knew what the hell they were doing with the cell. It's really complex, and because of that imitating it on the PC is going to take a large investment of time. And yeah, you do need a good PC. Dem i7s and 770s probably would be a prerequisite for quite awhile until it's optimized. As for the 360... I dunno really, to be honest I think people just don't care enough about it to try and create an emulator, but thats just me.

Shiro x Rin x Sakura.... because don't make me choose :<! Alibaba x Kyougyoku Ren from Magi. Because like honestly, screw Morgianna, Kyougyoku has been the best of friends Alibaba has had like, ever <3. Lucy (all incarnations) x Kouta from Elfen Lied. I was honestly pretty shocked about how this series went. If you haven't read the manga (which goes much further than the anime) I really recommend you do. If the anime doesn't sell you on this, the manga will. Kyosuke x Haru. They really were the best written pair in G-senjou Amane x Yuuji. Punishment~~~~

Chuu is the japanese sound for kiss. I imagine he was attempting to write "chuu!?", cause ! is right next to 2

Ehh, the atmosphere is similar to Heaven's Feel, but thats about it. Oh, that and the fact that some (most) routes are pretty dark life HF.

There are several references in Fate from Tsukihime, but nothing too plot changing. As for Tsukihime... yeah it's more mind fuck than action. Interestingly, I think all the routes are really deep and interesting outside of
