  1. I have nothing to offer that can help, but I do have a couple of opinions on this topic. Whilst I ordinarily would add to the pile of 'don't become an editor if you aren't a native', for this particular field that are Visual Novels, I have to say: Go for it. There are so many good stories in Western VNs and even some fan translations that are simply unbearable due to how they use and misuse English. If your efforts end up alleviating these cases even a little, I'd say they were worthwhile. Maybe to some 'making crap a bit less crappy' doesn't sound like a goal, but I assure you, as part of the casual plebs that consume anything and everything without caring about the original material or anything like that, just that little bit of improvement makes a huge difference. All that said, dON't Do tHis tO yOUrSeLF.
  2. Your will is my command. As for me, I will continue to see whatever looks most light-hearted this season.
  3. Might I ask what were the announcements these longer time customers liked in 20175-2017?
  4. Stats influence baseball, of course. They need to run and catch balls and all that good stuff. Characters are good at different things precisely because of their stats.
  5. Well, announcements are announced, so let's see how they look... The order in which they appear more or less reflects my interest in them. Excited: Interested: Indifferent: Won't Play: Now, let's do a counter for each publisher to see who had the most interesting stuff for me. So yeah, this was a good round of announcements! Good thing I'm part of the casual pleb audience that actually makes these publishers some monies. If you didn't like this convention then... sucks to be you!
  6. Funbag Fantasy's surprisingly good. I can see the ways it's similar to Rance, mostly the ridiculousness of how the plot progresses (for the first game, it only starts really being that way halfway through, on the true(?) route). Yeah. There's four Rance games officially translated now. Here's to getting one a year (starting this year) hopefully...
  7. Happy Birthday, @Emi!
  8. Might I ask what in particular makes this one a great announcement over others, for you?
  9. Press L.
  10. Could you reveal, in spoilers, what the spoiler was? Mostly just to satisfy my curiosity. I will give no reply either way.
  11. Uh, this is an all-ages edition. One that was, I think, made specifically for Steam. The others on steam were all-ages to begin with.
  12. Now, now, announcing things isn't the part they have difficulty with. I'll get back to you when Katahane releases late next year.
  13. I believe this song appeared very little if at all in the original Fruit of Grisaia, but it is unquestionably the one I most associate with the series.
  14. nooooodasdoasdafhdsahj Ah, well.
  15. I 100%'d this game. And quite loved it, in fact. Yes, weeb stylistic choices and all that, but I was otherwise fond of the writing. Super cynical view on the idol industry, but all is well because Starnova represents the good side and they always win in the end (Bad ends? What's that? Can you eat those? I skipped through them.). Even I mean, this isn't necessarily a commentary on the actual state of the industry or anything. It's an hyperbolic version created specifically to make the main girls an even bigger shining beacon of hope and all that. This is what'll save the idol industry. Even if reality tries to get in the way. But yeah, the girls are good, the producer is good(?), and in stories the good will win in the end. Sometimes it's more like this, but whatever.
  16. In my case, Firefox sees the images just fine.
  17. Interesting link. Stop calling your tastes trash, as that's the same as calling mine so, except even worse!
  18. Jesus Christ, bot. Spam threads with smaller titles. Jeez.
  19. Whilst I find light beams obnoxious, and therefore will be looking for that patch that just replaces such instances with the non-light beam versions, the missing H-Scenes are probably not a problem. I'd have skipped them anyway, I just know it. At least it seems the original developers wanted to make a good English release without investing too much $$$ and without risking worse attention/experiences than Sony breathing down their necks. That's more than can be said for some companies that ignore criticism (choosing a translation company that isn't very good is somewhat understandable -- the flow of information for a niche market like this doesn't flow very well to the original developers -- but ignoring warnings specifically directed at them does mean they might end up going with SakuraGame for English translations) or are simply xenophobic. That said, I believe it remains understandable that some companies just don't want to release their H-Games overseas. There's been some bad experiences in the past. And I believe this is ultimately the best approach. That said, the Western market at the time was a bit iffier than it is now. Now games make it here rather often, whereas at the time releases were far fewer than now. If there's so many VNs you can't read them all, then it's understandable that you'd skip on those that don't agree with your values. As a consumer, supporting the market is not necessarily the primary concern. No, but I understand how you'd have one and I don't feel like redoing the conversation will be particularly worthwhile. As you've detailed your perspective, I'll just restate mine: It doesn't matter that in actuality you're missing scenes if the reason you're reading VNs is to feel/experience something. The objective of all-ages versions are to provide experiences/feelings that mimic the original (but may be toned down / less scandalous versions of certain emotional moments) and leave you satisfied with a complete product by the end. All-ages is not competing with 18+, they're different versions of the same thing, and if you feel you had a complete experience, then that just means it did its job correctly in leaving you satisfied with your product. The ideal scenario is that both versions are always available.
  20. This is actually woefully out of date, but has some things in it. Besides that, I'd add at least this one, perhaps more later. Edit: Also, you may have noticed I moved your thread to the recommendation forum.
  21. I think I'm one of the few people who prefer the sequel, Hate Plus, but I will recommend it nevertheless. I preferred the events they depicted there.
  22. I really loved how the game let you play out the same scenario in so many wildly different ways.
  23. As this guide relies on mandatory save points, it does not adhere to the Fuwanovel Walkthrough Guidelines, and has therefore been moved to this forum. Additionally, the guide to Chunhua's route may not be working as intended. If somebody ends up correctly formatting the guide or finding what needs to be changed in Chunhua's route guide, do tell me about it and I can correct this one/move your own to the Walkthrough forums.
  24. The game's console versions had two stages of censorship. Normal consoles had light rays covering exposed genitals. This seems to be what we got on Steam. PS4 had light rays covering most skin.
