  1. You can save and load at any time. You can do so so you don't have to replay or skip through parts you've already seen. So you can save at #5, read Yotsuko's route, load the save, read Lavi's. Continue+ is an extra scenario. If you make the right choices you can read it. It immediately sends you back to the menu if you fail, so it's easy to get through.
  2. It's honestly fantastic. I'd have been happy with whatever, but did not think they'd choose a title I'd head of.
  3. It is, however, relatively important. Especially to these small companies in a niche environment. They need to generate whatever excitement they can, and announcements of announcements are important to keep your fans excited and following you. For the most part, though, these 'teasers' are for fans that are looking forward to more stuff from a company, not to fans of the genre at large. Those only care about the actual announcements on releases. Sakura Sakura I understand, but Yotsunoha doesn't warrant being released yet, does it? When was it announced? At any rate, they just released a game, making it the perfect time to announce another.
  4. Er... Isn't it the opposite? To feel empty... That's what happens when you finish things you like, no? He likes this VN for some odd reason. I mean, it could also mean that he is indeed bored, but I don't think there's any indication one way or the other.
  5. Happy Birthday to our very young @Fiddle!
  6. Yes. It is already tagged as such.
  7. In the most traditional sense, yes. However, there are Visual Novels which employ this method even without a true route. Consider The Fruit of Grisaia. The point at which you stray off the common route is when you choose to follow a specific heroine... except for Yumiko Sakaki. You never make a choice to choose Yumiko, you just naturally end up with her by rejecting everyone else. This doesn't make much sense in the typical setting where you usually just choose the heroine you like the most, but it makes a lot of sense for true routes where 'ending up with that heroine was the natural course'. In The Devil on G-String it's 'only natural' you end up with Haru, assuming you do not stray off the main path with any previous heroine. In Grisaia, there isn't really a main path, but you end up with Yumiko in much the same way. In short, the ladder structure is there, but not in the way we traditionally associate with it (It's still a path and branches at every heroine, but not a 'true' path.). It's a ladder with various exits, but it's not like the main one is more important. Meaning? Choosing a heroine is leaving the ladder. Not choosing a heroine means you go to the top of the ladder (which may or may not be the true route).
  8. On the structure of Newton and the Apple Tree:
  9. Good job finishing the game and understanding what was going on. I think I managed a few routes but didn't understand a thing about the more dream-like sequences.
  10. The Newton VN also follows this structure.
  11. I would generally agree with the sentiment. Thankfully, I can just go with Continue+ and forget all about the ending.
  12. Have mercy on them.
  13. But they retranslated for those. They didn't retranslate for the original. Edit: Looking into it, they might have just re-edited those at most. I am no longer sure either way, so you may be correct.
  14. Indeed. None of the other games in the Majikoi series suffer from inconsistencies though. They were all done by the same team.
  15. Majikoi is going to be officially released... eventually. JAST has picked it up but I have no idea when they'll release it. Out right now is an English patch which you can apply to the Japanese version of the game. The translation for the majority of it is... fine, but not good. A couple of routes were translated by a different individual, however, and those are much better. Miyako and the true route were translated by him, at least. No cut content as everything is translated. The Devil on G-String is available on Steam as it has been officially localised. Howeve, the sex scenes were cut out (and some images cropped due to the aspect ratio?). Supposedly the 18+ version will be coming out some time in the future, but I haven't heard anything about that for quite a while.
  16. I don't believe Sorcery Jokers really offers a similar experience to Edelweiss' at any level besides there being a mystery. It doesn't really have a male supporting cast, it doesn't have dedicated routes, and the romance is... well, it's present, I guess. I'll recommend Majikoi for having the same sort of large fun cast Edelweiss had, and being a Comedy Romance mix. Instead of Magic/Alchemy, it's Martial Arts, though. Little Busters! also fulfils the awesome male supporting cast request, and offers Comedy aplenty. The Romance is there, but the focus of Little Busters!'s routes is being emotional and making you cry, either of happiness, unhappiness, or bittersweetness. Instead of Magic/Alchemy it's... craziness, I guess. D.C. ~Da Capo II~ actually kind of fulfils the requirements to the letter... I see you tried the third one, but in the series, I'd say the second one is best. It has the male supporting cast, the great comedy, and the magical elements hinted all throughout. I found it funnier, and also preferred the characters in it, or at least their interactions better. The first one is shorter, crazier, and lacks context or sense, at times. These ones diverge a bit further from your recommendations, but I'll mention Lucid9 which is similar to Sorcery Jokers in some ways, and The Devil on the G-String.
  17. You were being quite optimistic, really.
  18. Perhaps if more people start reading Rewrite now, Rewrite+ will come out soon in order to spite people. Yes... Keep at it, Thyndd.
  19. Well, yes. I never said otherwise. By main game I was referring to If My Heart Had Wings.
  20. Happy birthday, @NowItsAngeTime.
  21. I have no idea. I, for one, am looking forward to this, provided the translation is better than Cross Channel or the main game and they keep the censorship at the same level as A Sky Full of Stars at worst.
  22. I would recommend you play it twice, as there are a few changes in the route. Just skip through already read stuff.
  23. Newton and the Apple Tree Summary "'Newton' was actually the pen name of a brilliant-minded girl!?" Protagonist Syuji Asanaga and his childhood friend Yotsuko Utakane, while tracking down Syuji's missing grandfather, unexpectedly ended up traveling through time to the 17th century, a time known for exciting advances in scientific discovery. What they witnessed upon their arrival was the presence of a single girl right in front of them. This particular girl would go on to be dubbed as the father of modern-day science, Sir Isaac Newton! That’s correct, Newton turned out to be a small, flat-chested girl! Unaware of this, Syuji loudly crashed into the apple tree right in front of the girl. "You do realize that I was just on the verge of making the most groundbreaking discovery, don't you!?" It was at the moment our main couple traveled through time, right then and there, that Newton discovered universal gravitation! And just like that, through Syuji's witless conduct, the great scientific discoveries of that century had all crumbled to ashes. What's more, like the domino effect, this would gradually end up altering key points in history. Now taking up residence at the prestigious English university called "Tenbridge University," Syuji finds himself pulled into the antics of four strange girls (and Yotsuko). In the midst of all this chaos, will Syuji ever be able to rectify history and return to the present!? Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order The game follows a single continuous plot that eventually leads to the final route, but has a number of choices along the way which branch off into different routes. The recommended reading order is to read each route as they branch off chronologically: Yotsuko > Lavi > Lavi Again > Haru > Emmy > Alice Lavi's route always needs to be read once before any other bar Yotsuko's. If you have the 18+ patch, which can be found at Panty Press, finishing a route unlocks extra H-Scenes in the 'Special' menu. Finishing the game unlocks 'Continue+' also in the Special menu. Walkthrough In choices marked with 'Your Choice', please choose what comes naturally. Sometimes choices will lead nowhere and you will have to repeat until you get the correct one. Yotsuko Lavi Haru Emmy Alice Attribution All info tested by yours truly through playing the game. Summary stolen from the Steam description.
  24. Each heroine has a video where they uh, rap(?) for a scene. They're all a bit different, so I think there'll always be one to enjoy. Here's one:
  25. How has been the experience with physicals from Frontwing? It seems they make one of these for all their titles now, which gives stuff a better chance at physicals than some other titles that may never get any such version due to low sales?
