  1. 1. Japanese VA/English subs (Because I don't understand much Japanese) 2. No preference (I don't much care, if it's a good story) 3. I prefer Japanese Voice Acting because *Other* I believe many people may be missing the most important part of the Japanese VA in anime, VNs, and other games. The Engrish spoken by the girls. It is just sooo cute I could never give it up. I dont much care if the guys speak Engrish. Unless they're cute. Then...maybe.
  2. So, I was sitting around doing nothing the other day, and started thinking of Katawa Shoujo, and I believe I thought of the reason I liked Rin's route so much, despite it being somewhat more difficult than your average route to sit through. That WAS the reason. It was one of my favorite simply BECAUSE it was so much more difficult than your average route. Not to be insulting or anything to any other route in other VN's, etc, but sometimes it feels like once you start making choices, the girl was already obliged to be yours, or as long as you did everything close enough to right, etc. But with Rin, sometimes even when you DID make the right choice, it seemed like you went the wrong way, there were so many times on Rin's route that I thought 'No way, I would have sworn that would be the right answer...well, bad end, here I come." Only to prove myself wrong after clawing kicking and screaming back into Rin's good (yet odd) graces. It was like, with Rin, it actually took work to get her, and I believe that may be why I liked her route so much. *Note: I am not criticizing routes of any type in any VN at all. I love the routes that I have played, and the VNs I have played, and I am not insulting them. Please do not use this as a flame thread.
  3. Ok, thanks for the replies Nakanishi and Kendjin
  4. So, as the only genre listed for Cross Channel is Drama, I was wondering if this one has romance in it or not? When I say romance, I do mean as kind of like an actual thing, not just some behind the scenes thing that never really gets any focus.
  5. So, I was wondering how you guys and gals feel about it? Me Personally, I have no problems with it, I dont mind replaying visual novels, except for gameplay ones usually, cuz the gameplay (usually but not always) tends to be fairly slow and tedious to re-do again and again, but if its not gameplay, then I tend to love re-reading ones that I liked Post Edit: As for Option 3, I picked number 10 as my number for 'Very Special' as I am the type of person to rate most things that I finish between 6-8, since if I finished it, I feel like I must have enjoyed it, so, in other words, I tend to rate badly , but for Option 3, 'Very Special' can consist of whatever number you feel would count as 'Very Special' for you, whether you are a strict rater so it might be lower, or like me, a lax rater it might be higher
  6. I actually try to avoid games WITHOUT Hcontent, for some reason, I really dont know. I mean, the Hcontent typically isn't very grabbing for me, and I dont really play for them at all, but for some reason I dont like to play one without it, even if most of the time I just skip through them anyway. Im weird and I dont know why :S
  7. Thats a good idea, Alice, thank you. And thank you everyone for the help.
  8. pretty much completely off topic (save that it has to do with VNs) but I saw someone mentioned the DS/3ds, does the DS/3ds get a good number of VN? Translated? Like, maybe enough to consider it worthwhile?
  9. So, as I am sure many other people (or even most people) do, I love collecting all cgs, events, videos, etc when I play a VN, and through the action of such, I tend to eat away hard drive space. Anyone know of something (like an online website, maybe like photobucket or some such, but dont know the rules with photobucket) that I could hold my hard earned collections on? I cant really do the external harddrive thing since I only work at McD's, and support my family, so not much money left over after all the bills and whatnot. If you do know any good ones, then ones with more organizational ability would be awesome, so I could, for instance, maybe seperate them by VN, or CGS, or whatever, but if there isnt any like that, it would be understandable. Thanks for any help guys
  10. While I would love to be a part of this project, since although I have never played any of the Xchange series, I know that at least one of the installments deals with a specific type of change that I would love to try out....I believe it was Alternative, but not sure, and if the others are anything like it, I would love to try them (provided they arent actually direct sequels, since you know, playing out of order ) but I dont have nearly enough ability in Japanese to translate, most of what I have only really comes out in recognizing and understanding speech, and only then if they enunciate carefully and slowly, lol. I have a fair enough grasp of how the sentence structure itself works that, provided a machine translation, I could possibly make a coherent thought, action, conversation, etc., but would have to actually try this to know for certain or not. And I am not certain that what I think of as 'machine' translation would be the same as what is 'actually' machine translation. But I can attempt to look into that, and if so, I could try and assist.
  11. If it was a whole VN, it would be Katawa Shoujo, I loved that one so much, and it would be amazing to re-read it with it being fresh and new again, one route....hmm...that one is tougher though, probably Ellis' route from Canvas 2, it was in almost every way just your standard, too cliche little sister route, but something about the Ellis character really made me like her.
  12. Playing Kamidori right now, only on chapter 2 but, I must say, I am liking it so far
  13. Awesome, thanks Down, I'll check them out...probably starting with Clannad, since that's the one I know the best. I think
  14. Anyone can suggest some good VN's that are more character centric as opposed to story centric? Like, story is important to me, obviously, but I am looking for VNs that focus more on the characters or heroines than the story, similar, imo, to Canvas 2, or Katawa Shoujo, where the story is there, but the main focus is on the characters really. If they could be ones that don't have enforced playing orders, that would be vastly preferred, thanks for any help
  15. Thanks alot Tay, I appreciate the help
  16. Been gone for a while, both from fuwanovel and Visual novels in general, thanks to real life and having finally started on writing a novel (I say finally, but really it's just due to a scene I thought up while walking home from work a couple days ago lol) and am about to start on Rewrite, like the look of the character design, and I hear alot of good things about it, so I am looking forward to it, but it will be my first 'All-Ages' VN, so, a little anxious to see how that actually works out, lol
  17. So, as I understand it, there are multiple Muv Luv games, so my question is this: What is the correct order to play them in? (Im not asking which one is best, or which one is recommended to start with, but which one, chronologically, is the first to start, second, etc) or are they similar to say, Persona, in where it doesnt matter which one you go with since they are all different stories, or?
  18. dont worry about late, as they say 'Better Late than Never' Unless of course we're talking hand grenades, then it's pretty much the same.

  19. Thank you for the wishes, it was a good one :P

  20. Thanks for the well-wishes, it is appreciated

  21. About redundancy, as has been stated, alot of VNs are written like books, which need those redundant details to really draw the entire picture in your head. What I mean is that, even if you have the image of the person in your head while reading it, re-reading a description reinforces that image to fullness, and even in VNs, where they do have artwork with them, the redundancy helps to reinforce....cinematics? in your head, actions that the characters are taking, like, instead of her just appearing on screen, 'a girl with red hair comes up to me' and 'a red-haired girl jumps out in front of me' helps you to put together a scene in your head, with a redhead walking up to you from across the street, or around a corner, etc. where she is actually moving and alive in your imagination now. About DLC, I don't 'mind' DLC too much, as long as they dont do what...I think it was Fable 3...did, where they actually put DLC merchants IN game, you are strolling along the woods, run across a man begging for help, only to be hit with 'well, if you want to help me, just purchase the XX DLC' That is when it goes to far for me.
  22. So, I was on DeviantArt, and I saw some great drawings of Slimes(girls), and I was like, hmmm, I wonder if there are any VN's with Slimes(girls) other than Kamidori and Monmosu Quest. Anyone know of any with a/multiple Slimes(girls) as potential heroines? Or even just Monsters(girls) in general? Not nukige though, unless it happens to be one with an even somewhat decent story, and as we know, those are rare (although they do exist, so its possible ). I guess from my experience, most of the one's I've seen, at least and especially with Slimes(girls), they seem to be almost total nukige without even an attempt at a story, lol
  23. It depends, like, in Katawa Shoujo, I really only skipped the first chapter, since all the routes were pretty much completely different, but in some, like Canvas 2, which had alot of the VN was the same, until near the end, I would skip most everything but choices around the 3rd or 4th playthrough, lol
  24. well, I dont have my VNDB open, and I don't have those ones saved, so I can't remember them right off the top of my head, but iirc the ones I am thinking of were generally kind of older, and closer to Dating Sims than Visual Novels, now that I think about it, but they would be set in like, American/English schools, with American/English students, but they would still drop 'Oniichans' and '-Sans/-Kuns' after peoples names. But besides that, Princess Waltz VN was produced in the West eh? I didnt know that, thats pretty cool.
  25. So, I have played a couple Originally English VNs, and I was wondering if any else who did had a similar feeling about a certain aspect as I do. Now, I am not talking about the ones that are set in Japan, or the ones that are centered around a Japanese family/set of friends/etc in another country, but the ones that are also actually set in America, England, *insert countries other than Japan here*, and also center around American, English, etc people, but they still use and put in various things such as honorifics (San, Kun, Sama, etc) or use family words (Oniichan, Oneechan, etc) even though the characters are ALL English, American, etc. and live in England, America, etc. I kind of think this detracts from the story, and the overall quality of the Novel itself, personally, I don't mean to sound like I hate on it, but I don't like it. Anyone else have feelings on this?
