  1. I think it's funnier, for starters. I also find most of the characters more interesting. These are pretty subjective aspects that are difficult to go into deeper detail on. The characters are simply much more off-beat and there's a greater reliance on amusing banter, something they pull off decently well. They also do a much better job at weaving in various story aspects. Now, this is still not a story-heavy game by a long shot, but the common route actually has its own mildly eventful narrative. NW's narrative was much more uneventful in comparison, with stuff happening only at the beginning and end of the common route. The heroine routes also tend to be at least a little bit more eventful than NW's, although they're still heavily character-driven. Overall, I think they accomplished a much more compelling mix of story and character drama throughout the game, one that's close to ideal for a moege.
  2. I really don't think you can use your experiences with this community considering we weren't the community they were targeting. The actions members here and on similar sites take are irrelevant. But neither side here has actual evidence to back their claims so this is going nowhere fast. We should probably just drop this entirely.
  3. Eh, I just sort of doubt that. You'd be surprised at how few people are clued into that kind of stuff or simply don't care. And like I said, this was all before they released on Steam, when they sold supposedly over ten thousand copies without Steam's help. I'm willing to bet most of the people who played with the restoration patch did not buy the game.
  4. Moenovel did this before Steam hit and was hugely successful at it, according to them. They were specifically marketing those alternative audiences and were rewarded with more sales than anything any other company was able to manage at the time.
  5. Sure, but Moenovel was aiming for an audience that may not be fully familiar with what bishoujo VNs are like. They saw an opportunity to tap into a market that none of the other VN publishers were ever able to do and I think they were actually very successful at that. Whether or not they'll be willing to go for a round 2 is another thing entirely, though.
  6. I think you should stop trying to theorize on what "females" like because this is a very cringeworthy conversation right now. I know plenty of women who like VNs with dude leads and I can see how Moenovel thinks they can market these kinds of games to younger girls.
  7. It's really not worth speculating about this anymore. It's most likely something new we haven't seen yet.
  8. More teasing: I don't recognize the silhouettes and don't really feel like doing the sleuthing necessary to find out who they are or if this is perhaps an entirely new VN still in development. I'm leaning towards the latter, really.
  9. Brilliant. Intentionally target the people who can't tell good writing from bad! Wait, they're already doing that just by releasing a VN.
  10. I could be wrong, but I believe the actual context for what happened is that a real 12 year old french girl actually did like them on facebook or something, and they championed that as the kind of audience they wanted to cater to. Not necessary the "french" part specifically, but they were just happy that their age rating and censorship policy was theoretically justified. This was never a "we set out from the start to target french people" thing.
  11. There are a few screenshots on 4&5's steam page that looked just awful. With action writing like that, you're guaranteed to have your ass as firmly planted and far back in your seat as humanly possible.

    PS4 Pro

I'm probably gonna buy a regular PS4 on black friday. Gotta get ready for P5.

    PS4 Pro

I've actually been hearing bad things about the PS4 Pro. Apparently there is some big framerate loss in a lot of games? I'm not sure if that's only in 4k mode or not, though. Hopefully it will be fine if you don't use that!
  14. If you don't care about mosaics, why did you respond to a post about mosaics, calling it bullshit?
  15. From what I've seen, they've put in a huge amount of work into this Kickstarter assembling some pretty great looking tiers. That's on top of the fact that they're taking the effort to retranslate most or all of the game in order to make sure it's as high quality as possible. That's not what I would characterize as "the minimum amount of effort," and I'm not sure the lack of mosaics contribute much to that. Honestly, I see no reason not to be really optimistic about this project, yet here you are shitting on them while providing no real explanation. And you call me jaded, lol. Maybe it would help if you explained why you think it's bullshit.
  16. No eroge since the '90s though (and it's unclear if she did the original 18+ version of those)
  17. This thread is now completely nonsensical and nearly unreadable because everything was merged. wtf mods

    Yakuza VN

The only other yakuza themed VN I can think of that's translated is Rose Gun Days, but I haven't played it. It's very different from G-Senjou no Maou, so I'm not quite sure it's what you're looking for.
  19. The VNDB API already exists and could possibly be used for that kind of thing, it would just take custom coding work on our end to do so.
  20. For racial minorities, things are a little ambiguous. Trump isn't exactly going to reinstate segregation, but it's very possible that a government led by him will be more willing to overlook many of the issues these groups experience. When the KKK and neo-nazi groups are celebrating a president whom they resonate with for the first time in many decades, you know things can't possibly be good for non-whites in this country, even if new policy isn't enacted against them. Trump's anti-mexican, anti-muslim rhetoric will create a dangerous environment for many people. For LGBTQ, things are a lot more clear-cut, they are not going to have a good time. Trump's campaign promises included repealing various protections obama enacted, and perhaps more importantly, he promised to sign an extremely dangerous bill that would allow anyone to discriminate against non-straights in any capacity, as long as they cite religious reasons. Because according to Mike Pence, Donald Trump, and several other republicans, "freedom of religion" means "freedom to openly act on your religion's bigotry." He also said that he will heavily weigh the issue of gay marriage when selecting supreme court justices, picking ones that support repealing nationwide gay marriage. http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2016/09/23/donald-trump-pledges-to-sign-anti-lgbt-law-to-permit-religious-discrimination/ Consider that a United States president is as much of a political idol as they are a policy-maker. As long as they have public approval, they shape the politics of our country in ways that go far beyond simple policy. Already many Republicans are scrambling to reshape their own platforms to be more in line with Trump. Even one of his most ardent opponents in the Republican Party, Paul Ryan, had little more than carefully considered words of appeasement. Trump's populist movement is very real, and far more popular than anyone but him realized. For as long as this holds true, Republicans are going to shift their positions in order to tap into this movement. If Trump lost, that movement would have been dealt a serious blow. The GOP would have been in shambles but they likely wouldn't have reformed along populist and nationalist lines. Now that Trump won, that's exactly what's happening. But it's not just the existing politicians we need to worry about, it's the new ones whom Trump's rise to power enable. http://www.wsj.com/articles/donald-trumps-win-starts-a-new-era-for-republicans-1478738769 Richard Spencer is an outright white supremacist. He wishes for a "peaceful ethnic cleansing" of America, and seeks to turn us into a "white ethnostate." Sounds like a crazy fringe belief, right? Yet here he is, potentially being granted far more political power than he ever otherwise would have, thanks to Trump winning. Trump will not and doesn't have to pass discriminatory bills, the damage in this area he will cause has nothing to do with our system of checks and balances. The legislative and judicial branches can do little to stop our many dangerous fringe movements from becoming not-so-fringe. They may not suddenly all become major institutions capable of influencing policy, but our decades-long intolerance for such views are rapidly eroding, Our population is becoming radicalized, and with Trump's arrival, Washington will feel like a cozy home to all of our worst racists, nazis, homophobes, and more.
  21. America was designed to be an indirect democracy instead of a direct democracy, which is why we have representatives instead of us voting on every issue ourselves. I just don't think the cons you put forth actually hold water. Some regions will feel as if their voices aren't being heard, you say, but how is that different from how it is now? How do you think the west coast feels, when they voted overwhelmingly in favor of Clinton to the point of pushing her over the edge in the popular vote, and to have that mean nothing? Your scenario for what would happen with a pure popular vote is still actually happening with the electoral college, with the south and the rust belt electing a leader that other regions feel isn't able to represent them. What's actually different, here?
  22. America still has very strong local governance, very strong state governance, and regional representation in the US congress. The president is supposed to be elected by the majority of all the people. There are always going to be winners and losers in a vote, but representation still exists for those who lose, and that wouldn't change if the electoral college was abandoned.
  23. Interestingly, as the rest of the votes are being counted, it is becoming apparent that Clinton actually won the popular vote. More people wanted her to be president than Trump. Shades of 2000 all over again. Isn't it wonderful how this has happened twice now in the last five elections?
  24. Assange's #1 goal was to get Trump elected. Wikileaks would have come up with something else if Bernie was Trump's opponent.
  25. Such petty lawsuits happen every election cycle with both camps (which is why we have such a responsive court system in place to address them) and aren't quite the thing I was talking about.
