I was watching an election where: 1) Trump promised to contest the results if he lost no matter how he lost. And was also preemptively proclaiming voter fraud in the absence of any possible evidence of it. Which, as this night likely shows, no such fraud was taking place regardless. 2) Hillary Clinton didn't give a concession speech. Excuse me if I look at these two events and consider one side a poorer loser than the other. The poorer loser ended up winning, which means his worst side ended up not being exposed, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there. The original post I was responding to was proclaiming democrats poor losers and republicans graceful in comparison, when the republican candidate was promising to drag our country through the mud if he didn't get his way. Now, I respect your right to prefer trump and to voice your preference. But the election is over, dude. The democrats lost. You don't have to spin every single event in Trump's favor anymore. The battle is over and you can cease fire. The least I would expect is for you to be able to look at the facts as they are. But I suppose your post proves that above all else, Trump's supporters are poor winners as well. Continue sticking it to those filthy SJWs, man.

During that debacle, we at least didn't have people like ann coulter encouraging people to exercise their "second amendment rights." (Also Gore still won the popular vote and got screwed by an electoral college that shouldn't exist) I guess I just proved Okarin right with that last comment, but, c'mon man. edit: Eh, time to go to bed, maybe be less drunk tomorrow.

Trump was promising a bitter fight if he lost, while Clinton conceded peacefully. Makes you wonder how things would be if the situation was reversed.
-
The last thing you should worry about is Trump displeasing Putin. The Kremlin is on cloud 9 right now.
-
No. Not particularly. Congrats, dude. At least something good happened to one of us.

lmao if you think sanders had a better chance against trump. Trump is a force of nature. A horrible, unimaginably destructive force. But unstoppable nonetheless.

Define "marketing" here, because Fuwanovel does none of it for anyone. On the blog and on Twitter, we only ever cover games we find interesting, only do interviews when we think there are meaningful questions to ask, and we make sure to ask such questions. I interviewed SP this year here, not so I could promote them, but so I could get answers on certain subjects. I interviewed JAST so I could find out more about what happened with Flowers. On the forums, the people post what they're interested in. None of this is marketing on our part. SP does a lot of actual marketing. They are way more proactive about getting their games into reviewers' hands than anyone else in this business. They often have very early review keys for reviewers in order to be extra accommodative. They are super prolific on twitter. They give interviews very often. I'd say they actually market themselves more aggressively than their competitors. If you haven't noticed it, that's simply because you haven't been paying attention.

Referral links on VNTS are basically what's keeping Fuwanovel afloat, btw. People buying backer status here also helps but I believe the bulk of our revenue is from referral links. It's not a lot of money, we still operate at a loss, and I imagine VNDB does as well, but referrals help make these sites actually feasible to run without any ads. Yorhel is also very good at what he does and works hard to make VNDB ridiculously fast and efficient, reducing the amount of server power needed to run it.

Oh this thread was resurrected? And with pro-trump nonsense? Here, have this amazingly depressing rant: http://lazenby.tumblr.com/post/152822012062/it-is-extremely-disappointing-to-see-that-you

List of All VNs with English Partial Patches and Their Progress
Decay replied to Decay's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I'm sorry but lashing out at the community and blaming them on the quality of your work doesn't reflect very well on you. The reason nobody wants to be your proofreader is because the level of quality is actually so poor that literally every single line would have to be rewritten from the ground-up. It really is that bad. That's an unreasonable service to expect from people and no one is selfish for not wanting to do it. You're sounding very entitled right now. -
List of All VNs with English Partial Patches and Their Progress
Decay replied to Decay's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Yeah, Days of Memories is considered a VN, but to be honest the level of english there is way too poor. It would easily be the lowest quality patch on this list by a large margin. Was it machine translated (as in, something like google translate)? -
The only way you can expect a retranslation of whatever these guys release next is if it's something they would have translated already anyway. Nobody should expect some noble hero swooping in to save the day. That's just not going to happen.
-
The strange part is that there is evidence that it wasn't machine translated. It is very highly likely that IMHHW was translated by multiple actual human beings of varying skill levels, ranging from "bad" to "absolutely godawful."

Pay me, I'll do it.

Memory's Dogma CODE:01 review discussion
Decay replied to Fred the Barber's topic in Visual Novel Talk
It is. The rest is still in development. -
The patch to fix the translation is still in the works. The patch that was released basically just added the h-scenes back, translated them, and reverted the other changes made to the game script.
-
I played with the restoration patch. Ageha's route was still extremely badly translated and full of lines that were literal meaningless gibberish. You overlooked some real rotten stuff, dude. It was there.
-
Surely this thread should be able to provide the proper context. Their previous release had an insanely bad translation and they used ham-handed censorship techniques that destroyed whatever was left.
-
It sounds a lot more plausible that AGM only handled the marketing and stuff, they do that kind of work for Japanese companies trying to reach out to English audiences. I don't think even the worst AGM translations I've seen match up to IMHHW.
-
lol, no, MoeNovel did not translate Dark Souls. Moenovel is a fully owned subsidiary of Pulltop that was established to localize their games. YumeHaven is a new brand for Active Gaming Media, a very large localization company with hundreds of games under their belt, translated to and from Japanese. They are not the same company at all. I heard once that Active Gaming Media was hired to do the translation for If My Heart Had Wings, but I haven't seen anything to corroborate that. Certainly, AGM has a spotty track record, some of their translations are perfectly fine and others are not. But even if they were ultimately responsible for IMHHW's translation, they still aren't directly related to Moenovel at all. The people who decided to license the PS2 version of Shuffle are completely different from the people who are deciding to translate Pulltop's stuff.
-
No, that's someone else, YumeHaven.
-
Well, if there's any source of optimism to be had here, it's that they probably don't actually have staff, and it has been three years since their last localization project. It is actually pretty likely that different people will be responsible for the new game's translation. Whether that means it will simply be a different Japanese college freshman being paid peanuts this time around or if they'll actually bother contracting someone talented for the job remains to be seen. I know what I'm betting on.
-
As far as I can tell, the story wasn't actually "rewritten," people exaggerate when they say that they removed all romance. There's still romance and kissing and all that. But the Ageha route was turned into pure gibberish and they went way too far with their edits, much further than was necessary.
-
That may be how people do things, but not corporations. A company that makes a pile of money doesn't say "Welp, guess we can do nothing for a while!" unless they're extremely bad at what they do. Money earned is immediately used for new investments so they can earn even more on top of that. The real answer to this issue is gleaned when you look at where the IMHHW money has been going to. If it's not back into Moenovel, then it's probably going into the budget for Pulltop's Japanese releases, with them deeming that money invested there will earn back more than putting that money back into game localization. It's the only explanation that comes to mind.
