I notice that almost all your reviews are pretty negative. The second season of Clannad is the best part of the story and many people loved it. It is meant to be sad, it is a nakige after all. As far as Ef a Fairy Tale of Two, I do agree about the first part of it. The latter tale is where the story gets really good and it all ties in together. You need to give it another chance. The visual novel it was based one was a masterpiece.

I don't think there is mention of Da Capo 4 from MG perhaps because DC3 did not sell as well as anticipated. I have played the first two and found DC3 to be very boring in comparison. I think DC2 had the best story. Circus needs to give up on this series that used to be their cash cow and move on. It is like they can come up with no new ideas for a story. Heck, look at Del Sagano which was very similar in setting and from what I understand that flopped.

I have read several visual novels with Deepl. As you have shown 9 times out of 10 it is fairly accurate until you hit gender specific pronouns and some names. You will have to do some mental editing, but it is usable enough to get the story of the game. Also, you can get prior context to what was said or who was being talked about prior to current line. Also, if you have some spoken knowledge that helps as well. Like I said, over all you can get by with MTL unless it has a lot of difficult names, words, or Japanese slang.

ISLAND is good. It has one part where a female character gets killed, but nothing is shown really. You are limiting yourself then, I mean are you against the damsel in distress situations? It is hard to recommend much. If you can use translation software Irosekai and Sakur Moyu are really good. Irosekai should be coming out soon tho. Astraythem is another good one with time travel and quite a bit of drama if you can use MTL.

The anime was a joke. It butchered the story. The VN was way better.

There is a lot more drama in those two, including life and death drama. Especially for Sakura Moyu which I think is the best game Favorite ever released and one of the best visual novels out there as far as story, and characters. Irosekai should be released in English soon, while Sakura Moyu has yet to be if ever. Don't get me wrong, Irosekai is really good. I just liked Sakura Moyu better which caused me to feel sad many times.

Try 11 Eyes. It has combat and quite a historical background setting.
