Yeah, I am aware of that but if I am going to spend on an item that cost 3-10 times its original price, I might as well buy another full game that comes with goods which is alot more affordable. That is one issue with very limited Comiket items that are Out of Print, unless someone scans them. (which god only knows how many years it will take) After all, who is willing to pay for more than 1,000 yen for just a doujin book (excluding those full-colored artbooks of course)? It kinda defeats the purpose of wanting to get cheaper goods from overseas.
-
Hm..What about those limited items that sold from Comiket or are part of the goods for a full package VN purchase? I'm talking about certain items like fanbooks, Short Stories books, VFBs or Light Novels. Is it possible to just order those (as I am kinda tight on budget) without buying for the full game? Thanks in advance!

Baldr Zero makes me wish I rather not know what happened to Dive's characters in that timeline...seriously. Just be prepared to stomach it though.
-
Seeing it is just the first half I guess I'll wait until the second half comes out in C87 before playing them in one go. Yuuji's a sickly elementary student in this game...military stuff seems unlikely but this spinoff is so much of a troll itself it might be possible..lol.

Amongst all those types of dere I would pick Tsundere, because they have the potential to have more powerful dere than most other types once defrosted, pure deredere without tsun just feels dull and their deredere also have the lowest impact (because they are dere all the time), there are exceptions though. What I would like to have though, is a type that are usually dere, but occassionally goes Tsun and sulks. It is technically still classified as a Tsundere though.

Tsunderes and their evolution over the years.
Christfall replied to Kimanor's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Just to clear out common misconceptions regarding tsunderes: The KEYWORDS, which both point to "Behaviour": Tsun - Cold and hostile behaviour, denial, ignorance, rude, you name it, pretty much any behaviour that no one will ever like unless you are a masochist. Dere - Lovestruck, opening up. Technically, anyone who has both of these traits can be considered a tsundere regardless of gender. The degree of them can vary greatly, but they all share one common trait: a tendency to not admit, hiding or outright deny their feelings towards a love interest. They do not need to be bad-mouthed or even rude most of the time to qualify as one. Tsunderes technically exist as long as anime/manga itself but their popularity only skyrocket following the "Kugimiya Era", birthing an age of tsundere which sports more "traditional traits" such as Twintails, Blonde-Hair and Lolis. IMO, they have not really changed over the years, because the category of a tsundere is a very wide to begin with and people often think there is only 1 type of tsundere. -
Clannad, Rewrite, Yumina, Grisaia are the more memorable ones to me: They all have one thing in common: Butt Monkeys In Clannad we have Sunohara who is the source of at least 90% of the funny moments, in Rewrite Yoshino's a lesser version that gets abused just as often. In Yumina we have Yumina the idiot, but pretty much every character in debate club (and in the school) makes the school chapter so enjoyable. And finally in Grisaia we have Michiru, which is very much a female-version of Sunohara in terms of gullibility and level of intelligence. I guess dumb/idiotic characters are compulsory if you want comedy.

Yumiko Sakaki route praise thread?
Christfall replied to Mr. Meogii's topic in The Coliseum of Chatter
Lol made me remembered JB's H in Meikyuu being absolutely one of the most hilarious H scene I ever seen in a VN. By Rakuen, pretty much every female that has a portrait gets H'ed by Yuuji (albeit just like bonus H with no plot), including Yuuji's own mom and (almost) everyone in the basketball club. Pretty bizarre if you ask me, yeah.- 668 replies

That's one thing I like in Dive 2 as it made me feel like I am really fighting a "true final boss" that is a serious threat, and the use of the songs + battles achieve exactly what Baldr is known to do : "Make you feel really hot-blooded". It pretty much puts your skills in melee and everything you mastered in both games to a final test. The final bosses on Zero 2 on the other hand is extremely anti-climax thanks to the revamped battle system and incredibly poor AI. Not to spoil too much, Zero / Zero 2 is similar to Dive 1/2 in the sense it is 2 games in one. The story is a lot more complex (albeit can be very confusing in the first few routes) and the setting is much darker than in Dive 1/2, the society featured in Zero's setting is SO messed up (and bizarre) to the point it made the social standing and discrimination of "seconds" looks like child's play in comparison.

Baldr Sky Dive 1+2 is also a good choice in terms of both story and gameplay. It is action-based instead of strategy though. Sci-fi genre.

"True" Ends: What makes them "True", and are they by design "Good"?
Christfall replied to K450's topic in Visual Novel Talk
What you say is technically true as the author has the deciding power, and my question is: Is there any title that matches what you say? -
Pixiv has a really good artist community. I initially jumped in for collecting all of the hardcore stuff from some artists who are great but not well-known, but it quickly become one of the my favorite places for collecting fanart and expand my bishoujo folder.

Irotoridori no Sekai Translation
Christfall replied to BladeRunner's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
Well, it has been 3 years already since its release, so definitely a lot has already played it. However, the numbers are still greatly limited because it isnt translated. Anyway, people who really wanted to play knowing it is a very great game, will play it, without translations, there are other ways, but unfortunately majority don't because they want convenience/leisure and rather just wait it out. Those who play it recommends it, spread the word, and hope it could someday get a translation. What I fear is that no one picks up and it remains dead, and eventually forgotten... -
"True" Ends: What makes them "True", and are they by design "Good"?
Christfall replied to K450's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Rewrite's is one of the rare exception though. In most true routes, the protagonist do end up with the main (true) heroine or in some cases, even a harem end. -
Have you all ever thought about continuity issues in a VN? Do you prefer if all the routes are canonically true or not? Most VN have multiple route systems with individual heroine routes, but the majority of them are never explained and is never the focus of the story. So I am going to discuss the minority that DO, thus I would make a list of VNs where the multiple routes/endings are all important plot points in the story. This means, each heroine route actually plays an important factor in-universe where they either directly or indirectly affect/control the events of another route before they can achieve the true, final ending. The method can be anything, time travel technology, interference from a higher dimensional entity, or some form of special power a character has, etc. The point here is that the characters themselves have to be aware (may not need to be immediate, as long as they do eventually) of such a thing actually happening. If they are not, then the story itself has to tell you clearly. To put it simple, the routes are not just an excuse for you to just romance a heroine or for the purpose of unlocking secret and true routes. As a result, a true route / final route are almost mandatory for these kind of games. Some Examples are what counts and what don't: What Counts: - After clearing Route A and while you are In Route B, one or more characters are able to somehow know what happens in Route A, and then take actions for a different outcome based on that knowledge. The point here is that the events in route A has to happen for real beforehand, so if it is just some sort of pregconition of events by characters, it doesn't count. - There is some sort of GroundDay Hog Loop happening in-universe. Characters may or may not retain their memories, but both still count. - Forced time travel that leads directly to a different route or a planned time travel by characters with full intention to enter a different route. What Does Not Count: - "What-If" scenarios. - There is a multiple world setting, such as alternate realities, but the routes do not overlap each other, in other words, there are no constructive evidence they actually "exist" independently in-universe. - The writer/creator (AKA Word of God) tells you all routes are canonically true, but the routes in the story itself do not overlap and there is no parallel world to support that fact. TLDR: Any VN where every route occur canonically in the story. As it is a theme where it is usually (if not always) an important aspect of the plot, be warn of SPOILERS. Here's my list of VN That Fit the Criteria : Feel free to discuss your views and opinions whether or not it is necessary in a story and list out titles not in the list above.

Hello Lady's gratuitous Engrish doesn't help either. IIRC it has more infodumping than in Comyu and the writer usually don't write sentences in a straightforward way and likes utilizing metaphor, personification and the like all he wants. The prologue is probably the toughest part because you know nothing about the setting (assuming you don't do research beforehand) but it gets easier as you read on, some parts still require good comprehension to grasp its full meaning however.

You have a good point there. Liking a heroine in a game is simple, the difficult thing is to continue to like them a long time after you completed their respective games. That's the difference between "Like" and "Love". It is actually quite difficult to pick, as I would like to avoid them being all too similar and generally follow the 1 per game policy. Regardless, here's mine: Main Waifu: Nikaidou Shinku 二階堂真紅 (Irotoridori no Sekai) The translucent magician, who shall be at your side until you can find your first love. Although appearing petite, she is a passionate, caring, and mature older sister figure whose relationship surpasses even family bonds. She hates "ecchi" things in general (perverts are even worse). In conclusion, she is the ultimate waifu material and an angel-incarnate. The Remaining Haremettes in no particular order: Minagami Sakuya 皆神さくや (Tasogare no Sinsemilla) Nicknamed the demonic sister (魔妹), one of the most unique blood-related imouto that has a stoic personality that enjoys mailing with her nii-san. Caring and calm, but with a jealously mode as well. Consider yourself the luckiest person in the world if you can see her smile, though. Tachibana Ochiba 橘落葉 (AstralAir no Shiroki Towa) A motherly, caring sister that supports her younger sister of kindergartener age all by herself. The ideal, perfect housewife character, usually calm, reserved and is very friendly, but is a tsundere at heart that is triggered by teasing and occassional embarassment. Fuyutsuki Shigure 冬月 時雨 (Izayoi no Fortuna) The Classic Tsundere. A less-violent expy of Fujibayashi Kyou, and is the younger twin instead of the elder one. Knowing her circumstances, you can't help but wanting to be by her side and protect her. Proceed with caution, her dere side is destructive. Mephisto メフィスト (HHG Series) The devil that will assist you in destroying the world ('s messed up societal discrimination) while masquerading as your lovely little brocon sister. Her personality exactly matches what her identity as a devil, she is calm and likes to tease people (sexual jokes included) as well as seducing her nii-san. Being teased is actually also one of her greatest weakness however, apparently being a devil with a heart of a maiden. Don't mess with her though, her powers aren't a joke. I guess I shall stick to my Big Five for the time being.

How did you find your favorite Visual Novel?
Christfall replied to Snowtsuku's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Sometime in early 2012, while I'm randoming browsing VN sites looking for gold(blonde)-haired twintailed lolis as the main heroine (I was in a Tsundere hunt at that time, given their most common trait), I come across Irosekai (I don't know about Hoshimemo at that point), and for some reason, the art, setting, characters, and the overall atmosphere of the game made me fell in love on first sight. While it turned out to be something entirely different from what I was looking for initially, it became one of the best masterpieces I played up to this day, which escalated even further when its sequel is released. It is also the game where I met my Waifu, the one and only heroine I loved up to this day and from now on. -
"True" Ends: What makes them "True", and are they by design "Good"?
Christfall replied to K450's topic in Visual Novel Talk
"True" Ends can vary greatly, but they generally have these 2 purposes. 1. Resolve all plot threads and provide a "complete" closure. In other words, leave nothing unanswered. Individual routes cannot do this because they are usually too focused on 1 character. 2. Setup to be continued by a sequel. Only the authors themselves can decide which one is canonical (albeit not common), the rest is up to the reader's interpretation. "True Bad Ends" are flame bait in every genre except maybe horror games or utsuge (depressing game), it can work but is much harder and less appealing to most players. -
[萌え] How to Read Moege - A Comprehensive Guide
Christfall replied to astro's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Nice effort and guide there. It should be a good start for people into moege character stereotypes. However I beg to differ with your description of tsundere there : "violence" does NOT define tsundere, but just one (minor) trait that some tsundere might have. It should not be categorized as a general tsundere trait. In fact, tsundere that are abusive/beats you up kind is actually a lot rarer than non-abusive ones. They are more common in anime though but definitely less in VN. I am saying this due to my almost 5 years of playing VN the amount of abusive tsundere can be counted on 1 hand, out of like 60 games (with 90% of them containing at least 1 tsundere)- 37 replies

Just finished Astral Air and I must say it is the best game I played this year. However, this game should be played without comparing too much to Favorite's previous games (Hoshimemo and Iroseka) and you will enjoy it. The only regret I had is that a certain character doesn't have a route, but since this is Favorite, there is a good chance that there may be an FD for it. Rui is the most interesting sub-character ever. P.S. You should consider changing the image of the signature of yours, or you may end up spoiling people who haven't played the game yet.

Visual novels that are not very Japanese
Christfall replied to InvertMouse's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I wished I have the time (and skills and money) to make a VN without extensive knowledge of Japanese history and culture. The one I can think of is to make something completely fictional : magical worlds, fantasy, modern SF or those settings you see in classic RPGs that has nothing or little to do with Japan, this way there will be less worry, nevertheless creativity is needed as you have to think of everything from square one. Some examples where the game barely touch traditional Japanese culture: 1) Baldr Sky / Zero 2) Liar-Soft's Steampunk series Pretty much anything involved fictional SF, fantasy will work, while on the other hand avoid things like histories, society, culture, and myth will be sufficient enough. -
The game is enjoyable and is decent though there are quite a lot of unnecessary/forced things they put in: 1. Seeing the red, it gets old after awhile when it is repeated no less than 10 times, and it is an underestimation. 2. Certain H scenes, namely Yoruko's and Rondo's. 3. The alternate "Good" end of Hisoka is kinda forced, it is like they put it in the last minute. The normal end is much better IMO in emotional impact. Thankfully, Kagome's route makes up for everything. Though I have some mixed views about:
