  1. Yeah, curiosity is going to get the better of me for these adaptations, too. I figure I can put up with it as long as I keep reminding myself that the VN will be several times better. The adaptation will also be here before the localization, so I really don't want to wait for what's going to happen next.
  2. Off the top of my head it was probably Digimon or Megaman NT Warrior. I remember filling up stacks of tapes for some of these series, and then being disappointed when I ran out of space. Does stuff like the Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain count, or are we considering only Japanese anime?
  3. True. I'm a night owl. Next person is thinking about what his/her New Year's resolutions will be.
  4. Like others have said, not sure if the price of admission is enough to warrant a couple of hours or fluff dialogue and some pretty neko girls. I wonder if that 52 page color artbook is like the one that NISA puts in their limited editions. More of a tease than waiting for a complete arbook, which might not even be a possibility.
  5. I haven't reached the branching point into other routes yet, but I'll keep those characters in mind when I have to make a choice. Thanks!
  6. I keep coming back to VNs because they capture the ebb and flow of human emotion so well. The ephemeral flame of a person's life which shines brightest at the moment of revelation after a herculean effort. The moment when a character fulfills a dream or manages to find the piece missing from the void in his/her heart is what I look forward to in a VN. Once I realize that the facade has been pulled, whether that be from the world itself or the mask the character was wearing, I know that something has changed. An irrevocable turning point, be it good or bad which manages to pull at my heart strings. The music, art, and writing work as one to fully immerse the reader. At that point in the VN I become the character, basking in the sweet satisfaction of having accomplished something great. For example, in Saya no Uta Fuminori's condition is only satiated while having Saya around. Saya is quite the enigma, a savior lurking in the shadows, presenting herself right at the moment of Fuminori's ultimate despair. I was willing to put aside the taboo and the crimes that took place because I sympathized with Fuminori. His plight was one of survival, to do whatever it took to protect his humanity and the emblem that represented this, Saya. Seeing how far he would go to protect his world was a harrowing experience but it also sparked a sincere appreciation for his love toward someone else. It was a roller coaster of emotions and one that that I was grateful for. I had never experienced a piece of writing that could elicit such a response from me. Yume Miru Kusuri is also another fine example of the emotional power that VNs hide beneath the surface. The protagonist takes on many roles in this VN as he struggles to overcome his apathy and the overall monotony that plagues his life. He learns to let go of his inhibitions and have fun. He learns to protect and care for those around him. It was an emotional experience, especially in the Aeka route, because I got to see how far the protagonist would go to uphold his virtues. I got see the change occur as he went from a passive person to someone who could find a shred of hope and light in his life, ultimately clinging to it in order to grow as a person. There are a myriad of other examples that show how VNs appeal to our primal emotions. The desire to protect. The will to survive. I'll come back as many times as I need to experience that resonance of pure emotion after finishing a VN, and explore what it means to be human.
  7. I was just poking fun at them. I haven't actually tried that with a TV, that would be pretty hilarious, though. By all means, we should preserve VNs with whatever we have at our disposal, whether that be with a CD or a floppy disk. More options for future generations and all that good stuff.
  8. Currently reading Katawa Shoujo. The premise is interesting enough: a school for those suffering from life altering afflictions, mixing together fun and rehab, until the students are ready for the outside world. Kind of a little burned out on the whole school setting cause of anime. Only a couple of hours in so I'll push forward in order to see more, hopefully it doesn't disappoint.
  9. I can't even remember the last time I saw a TV with a a slot for VCR, let alone floppy disks. They do make mighty good paperweights, though.
  10. Does sitting like this really raise my IQ?
  11. Playing Bioshock Infinite at the moment. I didn't think I could cause I don't have the best PC, but it's running smoothly at medium settings. Story and characters are very engaging. Combat is a bit lackluster because you're only allowed to switch between two guns. The vigors are nice to play with and it's always satisfying to lob a devil's kiss at a group of unsuspecting enemies.
  12. If as the viewer you don't become invested in their plight in the first few episodes then it won't make much sense to follow them along for the ride as they mingle and react to the staff's antics. It makes it easier for me to follow along with the plot because the focus was narrowed down on the girls. Though the staff is interesting and becomes part of some funny moments, watching the young generation mature and interact with those around them is what made me keep watching.
  13. Pluck its wings, coat its body in honey, and leave its remains for the hyenas.
  14. Watching Shirobako at the moment. I assumed a show depicting a day in the anime industry would be boring but it's managed to hold my attention thus far. It's kind of hard to keep track of all the characters because of the large staff involved in creating the episodes for their show. The character interactions are quite nice. At times it also seems like some of the hurdles are overcome too easily, but they don't detract too much from the show.
  15. On shaggy carpets
  16. I would like to see a decent movie adaptation for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games. Something that could capture the eerie atmosphere and complete desolation that the player feels when roaming through the mutant infested zone and especially the Agroprom facility. It's a bit hard to get into these games because of the vast amounts of time needed to travel from point A to point B and the steep difficulty in the beginning, but once you get past that you'll grow to love learning more about the mysteries of the zone. For now I guess I will have to make due with this short film. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmp2gchZEao
  17. Restrain her to a chair and have her watch humanity's most depraved actions on film until she begs for it to end. Insane = as good as dead.

  19. I'm gonna try this with a dango plushie... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v97Lop455O0
  20. I have the PC version stashed away somewhere, but am glad that the option to have it on the go will become available. I wonder if the same translation will be used for the port.
  21. I've gotten The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky and Valkyria Chronicles. I missed Metro: Last Light just a few days ago when it went 50% off, hopefully it drops again before the sale ends in a week or so.
  22. Damn, might just get a 3DS for this. Maybe the new 3DS will have come out by then and I'll snatch one. So many hours trying to fill up the compendium. I liked the grittier tone of the first one more but this one was still great. I look forward to playing it.

  24. This one is a toughie, gotta let go of my inhibitions, huh. Okay, I choose 2) Be a seiyuu for adult entertainment (Hentai, Dubbing Porn, Visual Novels etc.) Sounds like fun... Would you rather 1) Hug a porcupine or 2) Hug a Portuguese man o' war
