  1. I will complete all routes even if the first route I landed on seems to defy expectations and at first glance seems without flaw. At the every least I owe it to the characters (and also the writer) to see it through to the end in order to understand their story and watch the journey unfold, for good or bad. I have yet to drop a VN, so I can't really say for certain that I would never abandon a VN due to how a atrocious a character was or simply if the story was unappealing. My allegiance is to the story. If the characters grow on me, then that's also a good thing and something that will make the entire package that much more memorable. I wouldn't say that my preferences lean toward the 2D side of the spectrum. I certainly find myself taking more of the escapist route when I read stories due to the monotony of daily life, but at the end of the day fiction remains fiction and I return to this side of reality. I take whatever I can from VNs. It can be as simple as a theme or a lesson that I enjoyed. I either apply it toward my own writing, or I carry it with as I analyze the world around me. I suppose the line between reader and protagonist may become somewhat blurred as the story moves along, but I'm usually able to reign my emotions in until the end of the story. It's only natural to become attached to characters whose journey I've followed for over 30-50 hours but there comes a point when one must let go. I relish every moment I have in their world, but know that all good things come to an end. I understand that I can only take a sliver of that world with me.
  2. Reading Gokukoku no Brynhildr cause I wasn't satisfied with the anime and Tokyo Ghoul for a deeper understanding of the characters.
  3. I'm in. I'll choose Labyrinthine Dreams and God Mode.
  4. False. I am a sentient robot from the Milky Way. Next person has had their wisdom teeth extracted.
  5. Indeed, the subtle nature of death in this VN definitely made the reading experience that much more harrowing and believable. The gulf between the protagonist and Setsumi is so vast that there was no way for them to ever really become as close as I would have wanted. Setsumi's suffering was deep rooted and the illness eating away at her made more of an impact when it was pushed backstage. I contemplated what the extent of her pain was, but she wasn't one to really speak about her problems so it was left to the imagination. The protagonist probably still feared the unknown at this point, which made the entire journey more plausible because he would have wanted to know what it meant to depart from this world. He was walking a fine line as well, but he was not yet trudging along in a dark swamp like Setsumi was. His role as the observer as the observer is quite the vantage point. Like you said in your analysis, it is a story about a personal journey, a choice which would ultimately claim the life of only one person. As for your last two sentences, Narcissu shows the finality of a situation where a person has entertained all possible choices and reached a satisfying conclusion. The toil of sifting through emotions and questioning the reason behind one's existence is over. All that is left is throw down the gauntlet and follow the path that Setsumi created for herself. In Side 2nd we get to see the internal conflict come to the surface. She interacts with a character who is struggling with her own faith and as a result we get to see Setsumi latch on to hope. She had not yet given up at this point and I believe this state of mind is what ultimately made all the difference so that she could take the plunge. It was quite the emotional journey and one that left many questions and concerns about euthanasia for the future. One never really knows how one's end will come but I appreciated the way these VNs tackled such a controversial and important subject matter.
  6. Such a haunting and beautiful song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i25ZPiIIJAI
  7. Playing Splinter Cell: Blacklist for the first time. Gosh, do I suck at stealth. Good thing the deluxe edition has the improved armor or else I'd be dying left and right.
  8. Where the hell did this stack of books come from?
  9. Welcome! Hope you find your place here!
  10. Shingeki no Bahamut: Crazy stuff happens while on an escort mission.
  11. False. I see what you did there, corn. Switching those two little words at the end could have been disastrous... Next person has dislocated or broken a bone in his/her lifetime.
  12. Welcome! Hope you enjoy your stay!
  13. I'm really curious as to how the Digimon show will turn out, so I'll definitely tune in to that. Kekkai Sensen reminds me of that Stephen King book titled 'Under the Dome' which I never finished cause it was so long... anyway, characters entrapped in close quarters in order to survive will be a treat to see. Apart from that, there's not much else that catches my eye apart from shows I want to continue watching like Fate Stay/Night, Highschool DxD, and Yahari ore no Seishun.
  14. Ah, I see. Then I don't have to worry about spoilers, that's good to know. I thought about importing the films a while back, but then I saw the enormous price... just nope. Thanks for the info.
  15. I'm going to start watching the Kara no Kyoukai movies. I've been putting this off for far too long, hopefully I can finish them before winter break is over. I'm just curious, but is this based off the same premise as Shingetsutan Tsukihime?
  16. Who needs an alarm when this exists! This was truly a creepy song amidst the death game and an uncertain fate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iUGQHYO4F4
  17. Gore Screaming Show G-senjou no Maou Gokuin no Sento Euphoria
  18. Thank you for the signature, Mr. Meogii! Highly recommended to all who wish to have their own signature.
  19. What does borked mean? Did it not show up properly when I put the spoiler tags?
  20. Lots of eye candy in this thread. The power of Yuri must go on! Here's an image from the anime Sakura Trick:
  21. The horror named Orvien in Garo: Honoo no Kokuin really made me jump in my seat. A giant door carried by humans walking on their hands (corpses?), has two reapers wielding scythes and is able to unleash a giant laser when it opens its doors that can warp the land itself. Had to replay a couple of minutes of this episode just to admire all the details of this creature. Behold in all its glory, Orvien:
  22. For me, it was Takumi from Chaos;head. Such an unreliable narrator and so whiny, his delusions disrupted the flow of the story and infuriated me to no end in the beginning because I didn't understand why he was acting so erratically. Of course, his delusions get addressed later on in the VN and we learn why he was acting this way but it still didn't alleviate the initial impression I got from this character. It's a bitter pill to swallow but things do start mellow out later on until we get to see Takumi grow as a character. Haven't read Fate Stay/ Night yet, but from what I saw in the Deen adaptation I can already feel the ominous wind coming from the hate that Shirou will get later on in here.
  23. Backlog for those moments when my mind wanders and I press the mouse a little bit quicker than I meant to. Also useful for writing down important plot elements which may arise later on in the story. The ability to listen to the VNs OST after completing it would also be nice. As others have said the skip function is by far the most useful feature, especially in VNs like Sharin no Kuni where you have to re-read vast portions just to get to the new stuff.
  24. True. Sacrifices must be made for the sake of Yuri. Next person suffers from seasonal allergies.
