But if something is just one-shotting you, you definitely did something wrong. I would check what level your party is supposed to be, and I would also suggest making sure you equip weapons/accessories/costumes that are better suited against what type of enemies you're combating. Deadbeat dungeon is a very easy and useful way to make up some levels. My case especially because I don't grind much.

I will not say I like him, I just like his development. He does not quite leave his whiny trait behind, but I thought it was less prominent after the arc that involved being seen eating with another man. Well, I don't hate him and he wasn't bad enough to ruin the VN for me. Despite him not being the coolest or most badass character, I honestly can't imagine a character more fit for the game. My favorite MCs were the aforementioned Yuuji and Kenichi, but the game certainly would not have as much impact if they were in it.

I always thought it was bearable, though. Considering there were protagonists like Yuki from Mirai Nikki and Shinji from Eva... At least his reasons were always solid....in Alternative. Unlimited Takeru was just being a bitch. C:

Takeru? I like him a lot as a character. He never really becomes someone else, so for me it was really believable. Instead, his base character remains, but there are very noticeable traits he picks up from his experience. Though, as for his final outcome, well, he could never be someone like Kazami Yuuji or Morita Kenichi, so there is that.

I would suggest picking it back up. It starts becoming really fun later on, at least to me. I always make use of the save function in the middle of a battle because they just love having an untouchable monster-spawn, so I never really have that problem. Aside from the fight, I never really had problems with bosses as much as I did with the unlimited monster works.

On actual topic, I haven't found anything I outright hated yet... If I don't like it I drop it... Wait what? Did he say that for real? I won't argue anything if that's the case. Then again, I do treat Fate and the Deen adaption the same; as if they don't exist. Actually, I kinda prefer UBW over everything else, so that might be my problem. There was less time worrying about Saber and more time chanting about blades and works. :/ Oh well, I guess not every MC can treat woman as equally as the TouMAN.

Comments about Ayaka? You'll have to refresh me on those, as my original playthrough of UBW was quite some time ago, and I am not that far into the replay I have started.

I read for a few hours today (haven't done so for probably well over a month) and holy hell, episode 9 is so good. I love the battles and stuff towards the end the most, I think. They get really good.

I can't believe Saber wasn't all over Shirou's dick since the beginning of Fate. He has a sense of chivalry that rivals just about anyone else. I believe it was fairly popular and preferred of men to think like that. I don't think of it as sexism. I think of it as being born in the wrong time.

Why Ilya didn't need a route: But Moeka... I would be so happy with a Moeka route ): While I want to say that you're wrong about Illya (because I fully believe you are), I am wondering why you didn't bother to mention best gril of FSN, which is obviously Kotomine, who doesn't have a route, sadly.

Is it Sengoku Rance? https://vndb.org/v487 Because Rance really doesn't ruin the game by being a selfish, rapist warrior. He's one of my favorite protagonists simply due to how hilarious he is. That being said, I will mention I was initially offput by said rape, but they don't use rape in a serious way, so it was bearable. The game itself is actually really fun. Also, as for the original question.... I have trauma due to losing to Beelzebub in MGQ about 7 times. I... just.... :/

I personally don't believe a visual novel is great without a good OST, myself. Grisaia would have been a lot better had it more memorable tracks (Tunafish beautiful is great though, along with the ones posted earlier). Demonbane had really cool characters. The best male character in visual novels, in my opinion is Dr. West. God I want him to be my father-in-law. Elsa needed a route in that (simply saying this because too lazy to post in the other topic about people who needed routes). Uh, Raguna I believe, is a really good character too. Pretty bro character in Kamidori.

OP sounds a bit overexcited for this game. Then again, I was when I finished MLA, so I can't blame them. Anyway, as for plot... The best one I can think of is G-sejou no Maou. It is certainly the best VN there is that fits the description you provided that I myself have personally played. If you are capable of reading Moon Runes, then I would suggest Fortissimo, as I never hear anything but praise from that. (I wish I could read Moon) T_T
