I'm going to start Himawari soon. Hoping for the best, waiting for the worst...

Also, is the author of this VN actually a real life scientist? If so, it's going to be interesting to see a sci-fi VN written by a person who actually understands what he writes about.

As for that matter, I don't think G.O. himself was real life scientist although I wouldn't be so sure about that. What I knew is that to find out that Himawari was good or not, it's up to you to decide later.

I think it's mentioned in this post on reddit. Not sure if it's true or not. If it's true, it's actually a big plus for me, because I generally prefer more "realistic" sci-fi than all that stuff with lasers going "pew-pew" in the open space. Stuff like Ever 17 is fine too in its own regard, but it requires too much suspension of disbelief sometimes.

Well, if E17 was too much for you in that regard, be prepared to be heavily disappointed. Especialy if you're looking for a deep, coherent, massive sf plot elements, deep interesting human/humane characters and/or intersting, engaging story. Himawari have non of this.

Can't wait for your opinion ;)

I finally started Majikoi A-1. I started Benkei and Sayaka's route, both times I was roadblocked by Miyako "bad" ends. They were actually quite satisfying and dulled my motivation to load it back and and progress properly. I mean I probably will eventually, but the main thing I enjoyed about this VN was just seeing the gang again. I don't really care too much about non Miyako pairings cuz I'm an OTP fag, but I still read most routes because I like the characters and universe as a whole.

I'm sloooowly an quitely crawling through Tokyo Babel.

MAN... This a pian to read... so much pointless brawling... the setting and concepts behind the plot vaguely reminds me of SMTII and Angel Sanctuary by Kaori Yuki (unfortunately that manga was mile above this mess).

I hope Pygmalion is better than this.

(I can't understand why the fighting scenes here are considered to be good, maybe those scenes just don't connect with me anymore...)

Played the trial too. Looking forward to it.

I've decided to stall reading Ageha's route in Kono Oozora based on other users feedback.

I'm going to start Steins Gate tonight. As someone that has watched the anime is there a preferred route order, or should I just go for it and embrace the chaos?

Can't wait for more Karisu! 🙂

Hmm... Don't think about routes or walkthroughs for now.

Play the game through once, experiment a bit, play through a couple more times. Then you can start thinking about routes.

And don't you fret! There's a snowball's chance in hell that you'll stumble upon the true route on any of these initial playthroughs.

Finished 2 vns and a route in Majikoi A-2 (Hegemon/Seiso : very nice and the H-scenes with Hegemon were very funny).

- Da Capo 3 R X-Rated : Good. what I like : atmosphere ; setting ; Aoi or Rikka ; the Sakura conclusion ; a solid OST ; a lot of beautiful CGs ; Himeno's route. Having said that, I was expetting better (Perfectible Story ; no solid and endearing group of friends like DC2 ; bad H-scenes ; a donkan protagonist...again).

7,5/10

Girl ranking : Ricca > Aoi = Rurika > Himeno = Tomoe > Charles > Sara > Elizabeth

Route ranking : Himeno >> Ricca = Aoi >> Sara >> Charles

- 11eyes : Very good. What I like : Excellent Story ; very nice Crossover system ; efficient OST. What I like less : some tasteless H-scenes ; the fantrad needs a lot of improvement ; Yuka, the emo protagonist or Yukiko are almost insufferable during the first hours.

8/10

Girl Ranking : Misuzu = Kukuri > Yukiko > Saiko = Shiori > Yuka

***

Oh and before I forget... my girl and route Rankings for Chrono Clock (7,25/10) !!!

Girl Ranking (even if ALL the girls are interesting) : Miu (I LOVE genius characters) > D.D. (her character design is so cute)> Misaki > Michiru = Cro = Makoto

Route Ranking : Miu (unquestionably, It's the best part of the game) > Makoto >> D.D. (stupid ending) = Misaki = Cro (the last part/third is a bit mediocre) >> Michiru (a fairly good conclusion but all the rest is bad)

Recommend you to:

  1. start a new save periodically, and
  2. maybe check in for further advice after you finish your first route if you find yourself confused (I know I did)

Have fun! I first played it long after I'd already watched the anime, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Most of the endings are short offshoots of the main line.  The

2 routes that end the main line are Kurisu's and Mayuri's

Just use a  FAQ for the true ending.  Everyone does.  It's so damn obscure.  Other than that, whenever Okabe says "I should make a call" to do something important, but doesn't actually do it, save.  One of the choices will get you an ending, the other will keep going.

Thanks Fred and Nandemonai, I'll make sure to save when I hear that, I guess the phone means branches are not as obvious as the conventional 'pick an answer ', which is pretty awesome, cannot wait.

Thanks, I tend to make sure my first play through its blind, more fun that way! I think when playing FSN I spent more time at the tiger dojo than anywhere else! 🙂

One more question, I'm reading the JAST version and it looks amazing, what's all the fuss about with the new steam version? Other than HD visuals, apparently...

Only opinion I've seen (though I think it was a somewhat biased one) is that the Steam version messed up some things that the JAST version got right, so you're likely better off with the JAST version.

Well, couldn't get myself to go through RuiTomo's FD, but instead I read Chrono Clock.

Well, what to say? It was better than I expected. Really liked the comedy in the prologue and common. Liked the routes less, but still enjoyable. Then comes Cro's (Kuro) route. It has the thing I both love and hate in it.

Spoiler

Making all the other routes something that happened (thus all the girls love Rei), but in the end not being able to return their feelings. At first it's really good to see how Rei act with the girls and how he loves them all, but it becomes painful as you see him choose Kuro.

And now I guess I should really read RuiTomo's FD before I really become unable to bring myself to do it. Though it'll have to wait a few days, as I have things to do.

I had the same issue with the RuiTomo fandisc - finished Miyawa's route (which was pretty much all of my motivation to read the FD in the first place) and Yenfei's, both of which were pretty nice but nothing amazing. Then I just kind of went on to do other things... need to kick myself into resuming it eventually too, hopefully I still have the saves somewhere.

well the istoria hype train crashed for me. read up to chapter 8 this afternoon, plot is just okay so far, heard theres no kureha route, so that's quite discouraging. theres a lot of wasted potential given the setting we had, doesn't come close to kamimahou, last time i had this feeling i was playing no man's sky.

Finished Majikoi A-2. As I said before, the Hegemon/Seiso's Route is cool and funny (Hegemon's H-scenes, a lot of epic fighting). For Monshiro's After+, I did not expect anything from It...I was right :leecher:

Spoiler

except the ending where her body is more...adult :Chocola:

Having said that, the best part was probably Cookie 4IS's Route (the girl robot is cute and funny). Too bad the last third is not as thrilling as the rest (the best of Majikoi was here : Yamato, humour, Kazama family, great secondary characters... ) :amane:

Spoiler

to my mind, this final "act" (where the Kukis decided to erase Aiess' memory) was a bit unnessecary.

Edit : Restarted Muv-Luv Extra...and Finished Meiya's Route (not great). Yeah ! Now I have access to Unlimited...But before that I'll read Kei's (I don't know If I can find the motivation to read the three or four other routes) :sachi:

Edit 2 : Muv-Luv Extra, Kei's route : Oh my...Takeru is so pathetic :makina:

Making steady progress in the YU-NO remake. In fact, I'm almost done with the main bulk of the game - according to the in-game stats, my flowchart completion sits at 97%. I've gotten all the routes and all the endings in them that I could find - there were only a few cases where the game required me to actually switch timelines in order to finish them (mainly to obtain an item from a different route and then come back with it), but these moments were fun and they didn't feel overdone. There even are some hilarious and exciting moments where you get to outsmart other people because of your world-switching fuckery - some of them really reminded me of certain tricks that Virtue's Last Reward liked to pull, and seeing a VN do them almost a full 20 years earlier is just really funny to me. To think that YU-NO was knocking the gameplay-implemented time travel out of the water a full year before I was even born, amazing.

Not sure if I mentioned this before, but this VN gives absolutely no fucks about censorship despite being Cero D (17+). Sure, all the strictly explicit sex is removed, but the actual h-scenes are still very much there. They usually cut the scene off before it gets too crazy, but at times they get away with way more than they ever should. Incest? Check. Weird pseudo-rape? Check. Getting sexually assaulted by older women? Check. Having sex while listening to other people have sex? Check... all those people screaming about some inevitable evil censorship like it was the end of the world should just eat a crow, because this remake doesn't hide anything it doesn't absolutely have to hide. All the even slightly plot relevant stuff that might've been in the h is still kept in, almost to a fault.

Anyway, I will be coming back to the VN next weekend, as per usual. I haven't had any trouble with it yet, and haven't had to use a walkthrough or look up hints to beat what people like to fo r some reason call the most confusing flowchart in existence (IS THIs THE DARK SOULS OF VNS?!1!1!), but maybe those people will be the ones laughing in the end, as I think I did finally hit a wall. I am missing one branch I can't figure out how to get (flowchart ADHD), and a certain puzzle that looks quite obtuse got just introduced before I stopped... we will see next week if I can do it, or if 97% is the best I can do without a walkthrough, haha.

Play ENIGMA a little bit, and so far the narration was different ie no thought for our MC Chester in the conversation (Although I just play this only around 10 or so minutes though). I'll see what this VN offer later.
