r0xm2n Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 Playing Katawa Shoujo atm. Already completed most routes. Rin and Shizune are my favourite characters in that VN. Though Hanako was surprisingly cute too. Dunno what I'll play next. I'm waiting on unrated versions of Grisaia no Rakuen and G-Senjou no Maou. Also looking to play Steins;Gate, Nekopara (lol), and CLANNAD at some point. Also ..... morbidly curious about Doki Doki Literature Club. Apparently that Psychological Horror tag in the reviews is there for a reason... Quote
littleshogun Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 Play Mamatoto right now, and so far it's quite easy if you keep grinding. Of course I did some grinding here, so much that I was quite overlevel for story battle. For the VN itself, I quite like it although the tutorial at the beginning was quite overwhelming though. And it's unusual that we had Alicesoft MC who was a nice guy and didn't had sex in the beginning here (Nanas), which say alot considering that usually the MC could had sex at the beginning (Especially Rance). That said Mamatoto still had some early sexual content though courtesy of MC's dad Kakaro, who is quite cruel behind Nanas. As for the gameplay, I'd heard it was a crude version of Rance IX although apparently IX make some modification to the gameplay though. That's all that I could say in regard of Mamatoto. Quote
Ibitz Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 "Secrets of Me" is what I'm currently playing. It's quite interesting playing a stalker. =P Quote
r0xm2n Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 Just bought and installed Wagamama High Spec. It was either this or Nekopara xD. My VN "wishlist" is either full of stuff I'm waiting to be released, stuff that doesn't have unrated versions yet, or VNs which are known to smack you in the feels. Wanted something more light hearted for now (feels and tears can come later xD). Quote
Akshay Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 Took a break from long VN's and finished Narcissu. Isn't the most amazing thing ever, but it definitely hits you in the feels. A very nice little read. 8/10 Quote
URV Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 I only just started reading Hatsukoi 1/1 on a whim. It seems to be quite heavy on the slice of life, which can be nice in its own right, though I do admit I tend to prefer more story-heavy VNs. I have two stalled VNs that I'm thinking of continuing alongside it: Shikkoku no Sharnoth and Forest. Which one would make for a better read? Quote

Shikkoku no Sharnoth is a liar-soft game, in their usual steam-punk world. It was one of their better games, though I liked Inganock more.  Forrest, isn't really played for the story. The story isn't bad, but that's not what makes it unique. The art style and method of storytelling are very different from most traditional VN's.The experience, is unique to say the least. Its also very easy to get a bad ending. This one is more fun without a walkthrough. You have played a lot of VN's, but nothing by liar soft as of yet. They have a very unique style of writing, and the prose is repetitive, in ways that some may not enjoy. Further, a lot of people don't enjoy the whole, steam-punk type fantasy setting. Forrest is an interesting experience that I think every VN enthusiast should experience. I would probably go for Forest as your next VN I would also try at least one Liar-soft game at some point to try it. If you do, Sekien no Inganock is one I enjoyed more. All liar soft games, are somewhat similar in style. (Except maybe cannonball)  URV 1 Quote
URV Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 (edited) I actually quite enjoy the steampunk setting, so that's one point in favour for Shikkoku. That said, though, I think I'll definitely go with Forest based on what you're saying (especially since I generally prefer avoiding walkthroughs on my first run, so that works out well). Either way, I do plan on reading Shikkoku soon afterwards, so it's merely a matter of which one to go for first. Thanks for the response! Edited October 31, 2017 by URV Quote
kyrt Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 I'm reading/playing Eiyuu Senki at the moment and when not doing that particular game I'm trying to complete the other 10 vns I've started and not finished since the beginning of the year. Quote
Akshay Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 And just finished Narcissu 2. My god....... It is exponentially better than 1 is. Everything from, the chilling type of narration to the absolutely stunning background music. I didn't think a 2 hour VN could possibly hit me this hard. 9/10 Quote
Hiashi Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Little Busters English was just released on Steam. Anybody here reading it? It'll be my second time; the first being with the fan translation years ago. Canicheslayer and Mr Poltroon 2 Quote

I gotta finish Little Busters, then Rewrite and then I'm done with Key. Canicheslayer 1 Quote
onorub Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 (edited) Just finished Kasumi's route from Dies Irae. So far, it feels like a Nitro-Plus VN with more technical writing, having a blast. Also, apparently Kasumi's route is crap is comparison to the others? Reminds me of when i first read Rewrite and i started with Chihaya, i loved that route and it turned out to be the worst one. Edit: Used a tiny holiday to do Kei's route and quite frankly, aside from the crazy finale it didn't feel that different from Kasumi's route. 2nd Edit: Did Marie and Rea. Marie's route was really good and i kinda think that the order between Marie and Kei could be done either way because Marie's introduces the Einharj Trio better IMO. Rea's route was just one of the most beautiful clusterfucks i've ever seen and my favorite route. Now on to the side stories. Edited November 5, 2017 by onorub Mr Poltroon 1 Quote

Personally I didn't love Dies and dropped it on Kei's route, but I can say for certain that it does get much better after Kasumi's route. If you're having a good time right now, then you're definitely going to like this game. Quote

I wouldn't call Kasumi's route terrible, but it's definitely a lot weaker than Kei's and Marie's. Haven't read Rea's yet. Quote

Don't go in expecting it to be too similar to Persona, but the friendship theme is definitely prevalent in the common route and Refrain. If you're into Key-style drama, you won't be disappointed. Once I get a few things out of the way, I plan on getting the Steam release myself. I've finished the routes in the original game, but I haven't touched any of the EX routes yet. Glad it's finally being made available in English. And now I'm almost entirely out of reasons to learn Japanese, lol. Hiashi 1 Quote

The biggest reason why I'm studying Japanese is to read VNs and light novels. There are still a good number of VNs that I want to read that haven't been translated. Some of them never will be. Same goes for light novels, besides a very small number of the most popular ones.   Quote

So yeah, I'm mostly satisfied with the state of VN TLs atm. Don't get me wrong, it's not that there aren't untranslated VNs I wouldn't enjoy reading, but there's nothing in particular that grabs my interest as much as those 3. There are still a small handful of .hack// LNs I'm anxious to read, though. Quote
littleshogun Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 (edited) Still at Mamatoto, and it's almost the finale here. I'll try to write more about this later, but one thing I could say that this VN was resembled Kichikuou in regard of the territory and the BGM - there's also the matter that some characters were also available at Rance series. As the gameplay once again it was pretty easy so far because I was overlevel (The story mission enemies level was at 17 while my average party level was at 25 right now), although I'm still grinding though because from what I'd read the last boss was very hard so I preparing for that. Not_At_All Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 (edited) Finished Tokyo Babel today. There were a lot of great things about the novel: Unique routes are great, though I felt Lilith's was way superior to other two. The concept of gaining power from your reason to live was interesting. Adam and Eve being a couple throughout all the routes. Usually in VNs all the girls are single and are there to be 'conquered', but Adam and Eve were solid. I especially liked Adam and his very simplistic reasoning. Samael was cute on one hand but cold-blooded on another  Her murdering Setsuna because he forgot a promise was hilarious. Loved that contrast. The endings were okay for the most part, but  I am sad Raziel was the only one without a 'good ending'. Sorami was reincarnated, Lilith had two endings to herself, but Setsuna croaked after a very short time in Raziel's ending. It made the most sense out of all the endings, but I can't help feeling she got the short end of the stick. The one thing I really disliked about the VN is that there was so much fighting when the results were obvious. You know that Setsuna will win in the end, but every battle drags out anyway. I'd have much preferred all that time being spent on random school life events and battles ending after a couple of sentences. P.S. Uriel was so annoying. Every time he appeared, he was screaming like a pig being murdered with just as much sense in his words. Edited November 5, 2017 by Not_At_All Dreamysyu 1 Quote
Desert35 Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 After a quite long time away from the world of visual novel, I've finally come back and finished reading Noble Works with Maya's route that was overall my favourite followed by Shizuru's which was kind of a good surprise since I found her route to be quite interesting ^^. Now I think I'm gonna be reading Princess Evengile White Happinness, having read the original story quite a long time ago! Quote
Kurisu-Chan Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 Introduction of the Fate route finished.  I already love Rin. And i'm gonna guess that Saber, from her look and her sword is most prolly.  Spoiler Arthur Pendragon, the King Arthur from the Bretonny legends. From that, her weakness should be...magic, since Morgane is his/her main threat?  Quote
