Nosebleed Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 As of today, the creator of 4chan, Christopher Poole (AKA: Moot), has handed over the website's ownership to the original founder of 2chan, and the inspiration for the the creation of 4chan, Hiroyuki Nishimura. Back in January, Moot had already announced he would step down as an administrator for the site, but today he really dropped the big news on everyone. Could this revolutionize all of our dank memes? Will the internet actually break? All we can really do is keep shitposting and hope for the best. What are your thoughts on the matter? I can really see boards like /b/ and /pol/ getting hit hard, especially if Hiroyuki is looking at the site as a business more than anything. But I have hope since he is basically the godfather of image boards. Hiroyuki will hold a Q&A on Tuesday around 8PM EST on /qa/ Source: https://www.4chan.org/news?all#120 Quote
Down Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 The dude pretty much founded anonymous imageboards. It doesn't seem very likely that he'll do anything bad to the website, it's not like it was handed over to Shinzo Abe or something. In fact, the changes that are done to 4chan often don't change much of anything to the average user. Quote

Kelebek1 Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 So does he actually speak English or what? The linked interview doesn't really say if a translator was used or not. Quote

XReaper Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 as long people are still free to post/comment the same way like its now, i´m fine with it - unless it turn into something overly polite, tainted by ethical correctness *shudder Quote
Decay Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 i haven't posted on 4chan in weeks and i've never felt better Quote
TheFantasm Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Is it bad that I've never heard of 2chan until now? Quote
arakura Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 if it's like 4chan, no... definitely not... Quote
monkeysrumble Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I doubt anything would change, /b/ will be /b/ and /pol/ will remain /pol/. If they start cracking down really hard on posts they deem "offensive" then they're going to have a really hard time. If things start getting noticeably worse then more people would probably just go to 8chan or something. Quote
Chuee Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Yeah, there's apparently a history to this guy and why he no longer has anything to do with 2ch. http://www.anonymous-japan.org/fake2ch/ Darklord Rooke and Fiddle 2 Quote

Nosebleed Posted September 22, 2015 Author Posted September 22, 2015 A more grim take on this story, as if Hiroyuki's background isn't already worrying enough. If there really is a correlation between all these people, I fear for the future of these sites and their userbase. Quote
Kaguya Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Meh. Can't say I care about the whole gathering and selling data thingy. I was under the impression every major website did it, anyway. Still kinda am. Doesn't affect me, so /shrug. Quote

TehRealOne Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Do you think people would do that? Go on the internet solely toLie to make a profit? Quote
