Animation studio: 8-bit, it's not KyoAni so it'll probably suck. Chara-designer guy is really good, so it's kinda hilarious to have him deal with Itaru's terrible original chara-design lol.

 

(Overall the staff looks a lot like the Grisaia staff)

Considering Rewrite is my favorite Key VN, I hope they don't mess this up.

8-bit makes me worried, but I will remain naively optimistic about the whole thing.

 

My worry is that they will only give it thirteen episodes and just flub it all up. Sure, a lot of that common route could use some chopping down, but thirteen episodes is way too short of a time frame to include all the shit in there.

I wonder how they fit the history into an anime... just Kotori route does not explain much. Maybe a mix of Kotori and Terra routes.

Seeing the staff and the studio, and seeing how the grisaia adaptation turned out, I'm really perplex... I wonder if they are going to use a format similar to the Grisaia series (3x 12ep). Or the Little Busters format (24ep + 12ep). The Little Busters format would make the most sense, granted that they separate the timelines of each route...

 

What would make the most sense would be to have the story start with Moon route, with a Kotarou who reminisces the different heroine routes as he explores the Moon world route. And when he's done reminiscing, get to the end of Moon and after Terra.

Let's be honest here it isn't going to be great, the Clannad anime was a bit of a anomaly for being one of the few anime adaptions that were superior to the VN. The best we can hope for is something like the Little Busters adaption and at worse the Grisaia adaption.

But Key's material getting anime adaptations is a given, so it was only a matter of time.

They could pull something like the majikoi anime and have an all new story, which would probably still upset people, but I would perfer that to trying to smash a massive VN into a single cour anime.

The trailer is just a rehash of the 2nd opening and some CGs, with the music of the first opening, so you're not missing anything^^

OK, of which route that adaptation will be? Because there is no way you can merge all routes into one anime without making total mess from the plot.

If there will be only one route shown then it could be somewhat OK, other way it probably be absolute garbage.

I've been saying for a while that the only way someone could pull off a good Rewrite (or Umineko for that matter) anime is if they had an unlimited budget... So I'm very cautiously hopeful that I was wrong. But let's be honest, it's probably going to suck

Considering Rewrite's exceptional nature, I doubt they're going to take the normal VN anime approach by animating one route and just kinda making everything else happen (Example: Clannad). I do hope they take a Higurashi like approach, animating every route at a time. I know this will likely mean it's gonna take quite a lot of time, but Goddamn it it's friggin Rewrite guys, don't mess this up

Going by how almost every other VN adaptation that I've seen went, this is probably going to be terrible. I guess I'll remain cautiously optimistic and see how it turns out...
