VirginSmasher Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I'd like to hear everybody's opinions on the Sakura games. Personally, I think they're a disgrace to VNs, but it'd be awesome to hear the opinions of the community on the games. Quote
Deep Blue Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Meh, if you don't like it don't buy them, if they keep making them is because people like that shit, same thing with nukige so there is nothing we can do about it. bigfatround0 1 Quote
solidbatman Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 The reviews team has actually reviewed two of them (in a serious manner too), and I am in the process of working on another Sakura review. Sakura Spirit ReviewSakura Swim Club Review Quote
XReaper Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 too generic & clichee, might have been excusable regarding their very first title, but after its great success going down the same path over and over again, instead of spending the ressources on affording better storywriting etc is simply abig no no for me. VirginSmasher Posted October 16, 2015 Author Posted October 16, 2015 (edited) Relevant. (Now with restored posts, because I have nothing else better to do!)The fact that it sells quite a bit makes me sad. At least Clannad is gonna come along and blow it away and hopefully I can get my official translations of Air and Kanon. Edited October 16, 2015 by VirginSmasher Quote
Decay Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 The fact that it sells quite a bit makes me sad. At least Clannad is gonna come along and blow it awaylol, no, that's not going to happen. Clannad is only going to perform a fraction as well as Sakura Spirit did, it's practically guaranteed. Quote
CeruleanGamer Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Still waiting for Sakura Netorare. Can't wait to see the steam fanboys start raging. XReaper 1 Quote
monkeysrumble Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 (edited) I'm pretty sure we have a thread for each Sakura game filled to the brim with hate towards the series. I'm just happy that they seem to have gotten over their identity crisis and started implementing h-scenes.But to reiterate, the Sakura series sucks. I would say that the character art is good but the fact that every girl seems to have the same body type bothers me. Edited October 16, 2015 by monkeysrumble Quote
Funyarinpa Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 The only thing good about them is that OriginalRen made an amazing stream out of Sakura Swim Club, most hilarious thing I have seen in months. CeruleanGamer 1 Quote
CeruleanGamer Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 It's sad I couldn't watch that stream because I was busy. Did he record it? Quote

WinterfuryZX Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Not asian made (Japan, korea or Taiwan)? No party! Quote
Nosebleed Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Rather than hatred towards the game, I mostly just question its existence entirely, I can't be arsed to throw more salt at it anymore. Quote
Kurisu-Chan Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Poorly written, i wrote better fan fictions when i was aged 9. Quote

Soulless Watcher Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I don't really hate Sakura anymore, I'm just more mystified with the audience that continually purchases the games. Do they not know that there are allot better titles to get their rocks off? Quote
CeruleanGamer Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I like visiting Steam's discussion boards and their website and checking out all the fanboys' responses so I can get a great laugh out of them. Quote
Kawasumi Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 blablabla horrible writing blablabla. Not gonna play it, maybe never will, who knows and why does it even matter? Quote
LiquidShu Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I'm indifferent. While it is in no means a quality piece of work, it has its place. At first I was salty about the whole thing but after they have released so many, I stopped caring. If the western audience wants them then who cares? Like Sanah said "learn Japanese". Do they not know that there are allot better titles to get their rocks off? Some of them probably don't, actually. Anyways, their sales have been on a steady decline so either people are learning about the better VNs out there and ditching the Sakura series, or more likely, they're getting bored of it and dropping the series and VNs in general. CeruleanGamer Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 (edited) Hope it's not the latter. People are missing out on other amazing VNs out there just because they had a horrendously boring experience with Sakura series. This is exactly why Ive been preaching that VNs are not just pretty girls, sex, and cliche romance settings. Edited October 16, 2015 by CeruleanGamer VirginSmasher 1 Quote
