CeruleanGamer Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 RIP "Leonardo DiCaprio Gets Snubbed by Oscar" jokes 1993-2016 Anyways, congrats to him and about fucking time... Inception, Titanic, The Wolf of Wall Street, and The Departed were great movies that should have won him 4 more.... Quote
TexasDice Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I really liked Leonardo DiCaprio's performance as "Leonardo DiCaprio in the cold". Remember when he grunted, ate a raw fish and was filmed in the cold? Brought tears to my eyes, what an actor. Flutterz and Rose 2 Quote
Soulless Watcher Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Yes it is about time that Mr. DiCaprio was singled out to be the best actor by the collective of rich old white guys of the Academy. Quote
Deep Blue Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 he really should be thankful to Iñarritu for this, but yeah he finally did it xD kudos for him I don't agree with those titles titanic is a piece of crap, inception was meh and The Wolf of Wall Street was a terrible movie (he did performance really good) now he fucking owned it with what's eating gilbert grape, the basketball diaries or this boy's life, pretty much all his early work is just outstanding Quote

Dunno how much of that is just half-joking, but that's pretty much my opinion on the matter. He played better in TWOWS and Inception, in part because there wasn't much to play except grunting, eating fish, and being filmed in the cold in this role. Quote
DarkZedge Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Just some fun teasing, in all seriousness..congratulations to Leo, he's been deserving it for a good while now and finally luck caught up to him and his hard work paid off VirginSmasher 1 Quote

First things first: I don't hate Leonardo DiCaprio. He's always doing a fine job and is really good at shouting and making angry faces. But ultimately, he falls into the same hole as Tom Cruise: Leo always portrays Leo on screen. Leo can not play other characters, he can only play Leo pretending to be another character, which is different from actors like Tom Hardy or Jake Gyllenhaal who actually become different people on screen. Should Leo have gotten an Oscar? The answer: Maybe? Ultimately, who cares? The oscars are just an award show, despite people treating it like an election. Slapping an "WON xx OSCARS!" sticker onto a DVD doesn't make the movie a better movie, it just makes more cash because people are stupid. Should Leo have gotten an Oscar for this role in particular? - Probably not, because eating a raw fish and being filmed in the cold doesn't really require you be a good actor, it just requires you to eat a raw fish and be filmed in the cold. Other than that, Leo didn't do a lot in The Revenant and the scenes in which he had actual dialogue, he was utterly trumped by Tom Hardy, who once again proved how great of an actor he is. But honestly, who cares? The oscars are something everyone looks forward to for 3 months and forgets about in 3 minutes, until the next Oscars come along. Valmore and Flutterz 2 Quote
Dergonu Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Finally... ... I like how he talks about climate change in his speech ... Good job Leo! Quote
SilverLi Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Aaaaaand he ruined everything with his speech. I watched The Revenant and while I think he did a good job my opinion is that he got it because of the previous failures. Still a great actor and I like him. But the rivals wasn't that good this year in my opinion. Quote
VirginSmasher Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Leo finally got that Oscar that has been avoiding him for so long. My opinion is he should've won it earlier. The Revenant is far from his best performance he was nominated for. I'm still proud of him for winning finally. DarkZedge and mitchhamilton 2 Quote
Arcadeotic Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Hmm Yeah, I expected as much All of the catalysts were in place A true story? Check. Acting people who actually lived? Check. Dramatic story? Check. And the list goes on and on... Anyways, good job Leo, you most definetly deserved this DarkZedge, VirginSmasher and Dergonu 3 Quote
Valmore Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 It's good the Academy finally owned up to how worthless the Oscars are by finally awarding Tiger Beat DiCaprio with a gold-plated statue. I look forward to Channing Tatum's award for Gambit in 2018. Quote

Valmore Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Nope, nope and nope. Easily. Especially Wolf of Wall Street, which was complete garbage all around. Quote

Valmore Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 OK - "His acting in What's Eating Gilbert Grape didn't deserve an Oscar." It's pretty easy. I've never considered him a good actor. Billy Zane acted circles around him in Titanic. And where's Billy Zane now? Quote
Down Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 The high level of argumentation in that thread is mind-blasting. Even the memes are more productive. Quote
Valmore Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 But when will Keanu finally get his award? There you go memers - you already have material to copy from Sad Keanu. Quote
madvanced Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I don't give a fuck about the oscars, I'm just here for the memes (´・ω・`). Dark_blade64 1 Quote
