people are actually wondering why maitetsu? Did you see how many bought the all ages nekopara versions lol.

And nekopara actually leads me to what I wanted to talk about, PRODUCTION VALUE.

Maitetsu has A LOT of it, including animated sprites even in the CGs (you cant deny that when you talk about vns, then this actually counts as something "out of the ordinary"), the game engine they use is solid as hell.

B-But...child porn! International law violation! Africa! Blah blah!

Lolicon issues surely interesting I supposed, and with Maitetsu company who also developed Monobeno which also full of loli. I think it's safe to said that lolicon was controversial thing.

Anyway, this announcement was maybe kinda underwhelming but I'll try to make tier list just like back at VNDB for this announcement.

Good (See It Later)

  • Maitetsu

Slightly Interesting (Ooooookay)

  • Still, I Miss Her (OKVN, or Original Korea Visual Novel)
  • Companion

Take your time Mangagamer (Not looking forward)

  • Imouto Paradise 2

??? (Didn't know much other than this is side product for VN)

  • Yurirei Drama CD
  • Free Friend Hard Copy
  • Sakura Spirit Manga

For tier good first, from VNDB list and Kawasumi VN, I think this VN had high production value, especially when Lose (The company behind it) provided different song for ED and sang by the seiyuu for each route (Or so my interpretation according to VNDB list, although it may common for recent VN though). Also, here we had seiyuu like Kadowaki Mai and Kawashima Rino voicing side character, and we knew how much those 2 experienced in voicing eroge, especially for Kawashima (As for Kadowaki, I'm sure some of Fate fan here recognize her voice as Ilya). The premise though to be honest was like moe train, just like moe battleship back at Kancolle. Also, since this game was just released in Japan recently, we still couldn't gauge how good the story were if we based that on review, so the solution was waiting for a release than play it by yourself and see if it's good or not. Shame that the discussion that had with this game was censored lolicon thing, oh well.

Still, I Miss Her had slightly interesting art, the premise was apparently quite dark so maybe we'll had interesting dark drama in love that could end up like infamous School Days Bad End, which the anime was adapted that and spawn meme called Nice Boat. As for Companion, I think the premise was so alike eden, except the star (In here it's actually small planet) that caused apocalypse was at first by human in order to control overpopulation on Earth instead came from the space, but in the end the star was lost control and about to cause apocalypse to Earth. Still, I think those 2 companies was still new in VN making and I kinda wonder if fan reaction could be think that it'll be better than original. Well, looks like Solidbatman here looking forward to those 2 for the arts though, so at least those 2 VN already had someone who want to play it, which is nice of course.

As for Imopara 2, anyone interested of how pink haired heroine from Imopara 1 could had the daughter with same hair, same personality, AND SAME SEIYUU (Yukimura Toa). Although I knew the reason was that the developer too lazy to made the pink haired heroine with different hairstyle though lol, but at least the developer here put much more effort to design other heroines hairstyle and their body I supposed. I mean at least they different from their mother. The premise ? In first Imopara, MC was had fun incest and screw all of the heroine which of course all of them were siblings (And how could the parents from Imopara 1 had the 5 daughters with different hair colour and 1 son is a mystery we'd never know, unless they also had incest lol). In here, apparently harem route was canon from Imopara and they managed to inbreed with MC from Imopara 1, and pink haired heroine from Imopara 1 had MC and pink haired heroine from Imopara 2. And the story was like the parents here was leaving MC, his little sisters, and his little cousins who born from the result of incest alone in the house. And since this is nukige, of course the people who left in the house involved in sex duh. I'd not had much interest in this I think as of now.

For the rest, I just summed up my though below

  1. FreeFriend Hard Copy was unnecessary, unless someone who like to own every hard copy for the game they played
  2. Yurirei Drama CD was interesting, but I think Mangagamer probably will sell it with the translated script in the case. Actually, speaking about translating Drama CD, it had already done by GundamAce back in Animesuki forum with Ever17 Drama CD, so it's quite interesting to see official company first translate Drama CD I think
  3. Sakura Spirit Manga, well let's just said that it'll be at ecchi segment if there's effort to scan it and posted on any manga sharing site

I think that's all of my thought for this morning announcement. Well quite a letdown after I tried to wake up at 9 am. Oh well, at least there's still 5 more events to speculate, and looks like Mangagamer will announce their new partner for next announcement. As for Sekai announcement at almost 3 hours later, I'll try to type my thought tomorrow if I had the chance. Oh, and happy early Easter by the way. Sorry for my bad English.

PS - From Sekai, I'd actually far more looking forward of how much Root Double was ready before release it. Download Edition was fine, but oh well.

Tokeijikake, eh. Well, looks like Kohaku announcement was their cooperation with Sekai. And actually Tokeijikake translation homepage was not showing progress for several month, also this is first part of 3 sequels, so not so much looking forward from very start of translation I think.

I think it as great news that Tokeijikake got picked up by Sekai

I do love this series greatly, and I'll now be looking forward to this a lot

At least something good came out, although I concider Maitetsu and ImoPara 2 as good news as well

But hot damn, this is something to look forward to

About Just Desert VN, as Indonesian I also had like 'Huh?' as well. For more nitpicking, why must the only Indonesian people had also been half Japanese. Although once again I'm from Indonesian, I think there's still not much good VN from here. But I think they got some good talent here, and I speak about kopianget who design character in Huniepop (He's Indonesian by the way). Back to VN, I think even I'd just nitpicking about VN from Indonesia, maybe this will be good. The question is when Sekai release it though.

As for zombie BL thing, my suggestion that Sekai should made the goal insane like US$ 200,000 or something like that instead of only US$ 11,500. If you want to know my reaction I didn't looking forward to it at all, and it could be first candidate to sacrificed if some of you want to see if Sekai failed to funded something lol.

Another update from Sekai was Kanji no Owari thing, which may as well search it for yourself.

Just because something doesn't match your taste, is no reason to wish ill on a project.

Tokeijikake no Ley Line is definitely great news - certainly my favorite announcement of this con.

It doesn't really come unexpected though. It was clear that there was something going on behind the scenes after the big silence around this title right before the translation got finished.

An official release also increases the likelihood that the the other parts get translated, because the motivation for that is certainly a lot higher if you get paid for it.

Probably mine too.

Maitetsu stood out to me as something unique and interesting only to find out it's an eroge, with lolis... I am disappoint, and have lost all interest. :amane:

Well at least there is a chance that Ley Line gets also a Denpasoft release since the H-Scene are already translated.

Don't bet on it, this is Sekai Project after all and they didn't give a rats ass about other vns that had h-scenes already translated (g-senjou no maou comes to mind).

It seems sekai project is keeping an eye on close to finished fan-translations and is scooping them up before they release. This is great for the translators since now they actually (hopefully) get paid for their work but the fans are getting screwed over since Sekai Project has a habit of taking forever and not releasing full uncut releases. It would be nice if this changed but I really don't hold my breath on anything SP related these days.

Anyone know if they mentioned Leyline would be getting a kickstarter in the future? (if they pull another announcement of a license and mention the kickstarter after the fact I won't support it based on the questionable ethics).

Akabei Soft 2 didnt want a english uncut release of it. So Sekai Projects choice was Steam only release or bust.

To be fair, Ley-Line is also an eroge, with loli <_<

Well Hoshimemo is also an eroge... with loli.

MG = yuritopia

SP = lolitopia

? ? ?

I don't think they will KS/igg Leyline. They might try with Maitetsu tho, but who knows...

I like SP picking Leyline. The bad thing is probably that it's only first part... out of three.

I wonder when they'll announce http://flyingpantsu.net/koiken-otome/ :makina:

2:0 for SP this time.

Probably won't be long till someone does, because the team has been updating the progress super slowly as if they're waiting on it. Don't know why they won't just come out and say it, and I could be wrong, but that's how it seems.

Ok, I'm back in the land of the living after a very late night. So a few comments:

  • Seriously, there were a lot of people chuckling at me about the Maitetsu question. I saw the lolis and kind of knew what I was signing up for, but I wasn't quite aware of the extent of the H content and quite how young the characters looked.
  • Anyway, I actually just tweeted at dovac about that question and got an interesting response: "We had internal discussions about this, but just can't talk about it at this time." This is very much in line with how I interpret their response last night: it wasn't a denial, or even a hinted denial, of any kind of 18+ release. It was an extremely neutral question dodge. I really don't know what to expect - if it were already decided to be something as simple as "there will be no H content", I don't think they would be responding the way they are. My guess is that it's still an in-progress discussion, both with the developer and internally, trying to figure out what kind of balance they should tread to maintain their reputation with all camps and to make the release have the maximum positive impact. None of us is in a position to predict the future here - let's wait and see what happens.
  • Regardless, I actually don't care - I almost certainly will play Maitetsu, because the idea is cute, the art looks freaking gorgeous, and I have no problem with the occasional moege (I seriously love IMHHW, censorship, bad translation, and all). And when I do play Maitetsu, you can bet I'm going to play that censored Steam release.
  • I don't know why people are talking about Kickstarters WRT the SP announcements. They said absolutely nothing about it at SakuraCon, and I don't think they said anything about Kickstarter at Anime Boston either. Each time they announce something is going through Kickstarter, it's been announced as having a Kickstarter from the beginning, right? I think there's clearly not going to be one for any of this stuff. Will SP get a little less incomprehensible hate about Kickstarter after this? Probably not.
  • I am pretty hyped about Ley Line. It's good to see SP had another solid announcement up their sleeve for Boston and didn't dump everything at SakuraCon. I'm actually really happy about the recent pattern of fan translation projects turning into officially-licensed releases. Fan translators deserve compensation for their work, and as a significant and growing group of fans, we deserve to be taken seriously by the original developers and publishers. This new trend, and the very clear rapid growth of the US VN-reading market over the last couple years, are very positive signs.
  • MangaGamer, I am disappoint. But you're releasing Tokyo Babel in the next week, so you know what, actually we're totally square. I have a fair bit of faith in their recent product decisions, so I'm sure they'll come back swinging next time.
