Okay, sorry then. To be honest, TV Trope and VNDB was mixing utsuge and nakige trope, make it more confusing to be honest. Okay, so here I'll change my recommendation since apparently you didn't like sad ending or utsuge thing (No problem though since taste for each people was different). For the new recommendation, how about Katawa Shoujo and Yume Miru Kusuri. And as for Shinikiss, the tone maybe depressing, but the game was ended on happy note though (And in VNDB it was not listed as utsuge anyway, but eden and ef was), so you should try Shinikiss. Although I must admit for 3 of my previous recommendation the ending was not so happy.

tldr - I recommended Shinikiss again, with Katawa Shoujo and Yume Miru Kusuri as my new recommendation. Have fun for playing VN.

Didn't see if you commented on this or not, maybe I'm just blind, but can you read Japanese or are you only looking for translated stuff?

Maybe I just don't get the term, but I didn't find either eden* or Sekien no Inganock (which even bears the "utsuge" tag on vndb) to be depressing in the slightest.

Neither of them is all sunshine and roses, by any means - I'll be the first to admit that neither is a game where nothing bad actually lasts and everything is wrapped up into a neat little gift of happiness at the end. But for me, a slightly bittersweet ending is even more rewarding than a purely sweet one. If you've never played either of those games, maybe give one a try and see if it works for you; you may be surprised.

VNDB tends to be a fairly ... iffy place for ratings. It's good for a decent overview of the reception of the title, but it should never be the final deciding factor.

As for Eden*, there is a few things in it that might make a person think poorly of it, but if you like nakige, I can assure you that it will be a great read for you.

I still think of it as one of the best VNs I've read, though I'm sure many will disagree with me on that Seeing as it's a fairly short read, you should go through it and make up your own mind on it. It's always a shame when a person doesn't read a title because of what other people think of it.

I second Symphonic Rain, it's great. Admittedly a slow start, but fantastic. Especially when you get to the true (Al Fine) route. About the art. The background art in Symphonic Rain is gorgeous, it's just the character designs and CGs that are a bit lack luster.

Well, that's a matter for debate (and it actually was debated somewhere on the forums here a little while back, because of the pun in the route name). There's another unlockable route, and none of the five routes is really anointed a true route by the game. But I think Al Fine is my head canon anyway, so I don't actually disagree too strongly with you calling it that
