Snailmusk Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 I dunno about you, but a bad UI can instantly turn me off to a Visual Novel. It'd be cool to see what wonderful, hell even creative interfaces you've all come across! Quote
john 'mr. customer' smith Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 i think it's a great question actually. I guess Harmonia doesn't count because it isn't out yet, but i really like the idea of it's UI Spoiler Quote
Snailmusk Posted June 17, 2016 Author Posted June 17, 2016 That is pretty cool. I remember the Grisaia interface, while obviously not revolutionary, was really nice. Quote

I started brainstorming when I saw the first post, but realized I couldn't actually put my finger on a great UI. I have a few candidates for what not to do with UI, but not really how it should be done. I ended up just watching the thread and read the gems you guys will show up with. Quote
Kelebek1 Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 LET ME SAVE DURING THE FUCKING ADV SCENES CHARASOFT YOU CUNTS, AND DON'T MAKE RIGHT-CLICK ADVANCE THE FUCKING TEXT! About sums up my experience with what bad UIs can do to me. I can't specifically remember a good one though, just a bad one. Quote
john 'mr. customer' smith Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Again, not out yet, but really cool Spoiler Quote
Zakamutt Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Rewrite immediately sprung to mind. It's pretty. ...why is this in Chatter? Quote

Eclipsed Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Koisuru natsu no last resort, cuz it was the first VN for me that had the whole right click + drag in a direction shortcut thingy goin' on Quote

I'm really not saying a ui should pop or anything, but come on, at least think of something that looks nicer than a transparent black box please. Quote

Uhh, Tokeijikake no Ley Line is also pretty good (quality for the game is actually top notch overall though), off the top of my head in terms of stuff I've gone through (not necessarily completely). Spoiler The system menu also had cogs and gears that spun, which was pretty cool. Spoiler And uhh, I guess... Cocoro@Function? I thought that looked pretty cool. Pulltop just seems like they have a decent track record. Spoiler Quote

solidbatman Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 I like UIs that sort of act as part of the game and not just info delivery. For example, a UI being on a cellphone menu style, or whatever. Shit like that makes me happy. Quote

Zalor Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 How has Quartett!'s GUI not been mentioned yet. That was the only VN I played where I was actually impressed by all the effort that went into the GUI. Narcosis 1 Quote
ShinRaikdou Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai. Spoiler or Spoiler And options - you can set any wallpaper Spoiler Most customizable UI that i seen. Can be played on gamepad. It may be perfect if they give option to change font size and colors...And fast skip to choices. Barktooth 1 Quote

Some partial english patch? And the whole drag and drop for gestures was actually also in Aiyoku no Eustia, so that much is just a perk from the company. Spoiler Quote

Not only Quartett!'s; Almost all of Littlewitch games (especially later ones) had gorgeously built GUI's. Another good example would be Rondo Leaflet (aka the Suffering of Steward Matthew ). Quote
Funyarinpa Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Danganronpa 2, easily. So fucking stylish, man. The menus are ORGASMIC. Couldn't find a picture of the options menu and the main menu but those are great as well. Quote

akaritan Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Euphoria. The UI felt really smooth and there was a lot of control in terms of customising to fit your preferences, not to mention the panic button. Hijiri and Kawasumi 2 Quote
ampzz Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Hmm, there's a couple of user interfaces I liked in a few visual novels. Time to go load them up to take some appropriate screenshots, and hope I don't get sidetracked by reading through them again! Previously stated by some people above me: - Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai - Rewrite With my own addition being: - Koiken Otome Spoiler This one was very nice with all the animated portions of the UI fitting the futuristic theme of this visual novel without feeling gaudy. Quote
Arcadeotic Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Koiken Otome's UI is shiny as shit, and it's actually the only UI I remember clearly It's so shiny, futuristic, colorful, has fluent animation and overall is amazing to the max seventhfonist425 1 Quote
