English version of ChuSinGura 46+1 released on Steam... for free?

Uhh... as far as I can tell, there aren't any F2P aspects or DLC here, but here it is, on Steam, in English, for free. UPDATE: Apparently it's just chapter 1.

It's only a trial, as stated in the Japanese Twitter Account, but nowhere on the steam page... no idea what the S stands for either.

As always, the communication with the fanbase is top-tier.

Well, The original JP version of ChuSinGura 46+1 did come out in parts.1 part for 1 Heroine for a total of 4 parts.

After that come the full game that included all of those parts and more.

.....if i remember correctly anyway

Actually, it was the first three parts and then the complete game, including the two last chapters, making it 5 chapters.

The biggest surprise of this entire debacle is that the translation doesn't even seem bad. Like... it's fine, I guess? I certainly didn't expect that after everything else that went down. This whole release has been so thoroughly mismanaged.

They probably intend to release the chapters piecemeal. I'm not entirely opposed to that plan if they're affordably priced.

They can also plan to use the first chapter as a free teaser before releasing the whole game though i somehow doubt it.

One of the most random project I've seen. I wasn't even expecting something readable at this point. It still looks kinda fishy for me.

I think they decided to do such a strange promo with free first chapter and after try KS in 3rd time. Actually make sense, as virtually no one really know about Chusingura (means in english part of the world), it never had any translations, promos, hype - and it is hard to promote, even having a perfect KS, I guess.

ChuSinGura46+1 is like 60 hours long and has five ero scenes which are utterly terrible.
The game is actually gonna be improved by cutting them out.
Like, even FSN's sex scenes are a billion times more relevant to your enjoyment of the work. xD

...and I usually like ero in my VNs.

Huh, that's dissapointing.

(Actually got the Japanese game a while back, planning on playing it. Was kind of looking forward to the H-scenes   )

I just checked and counted 9 H-Scenes, 11 if you count Blow-Job-only Scenes.

As well as two Blow-Job only scenes for Yasubee.

Also, I actually enjoyed them.

 

As for this release on steam, the engine is kinda bad.

Kind of choppy when doing something and rather buggy, I couldnt even launch the game properly at first.

UI looks like the original game, but performance is way worse.

They should have just used KiriKiri like the original game did instead.

 

On another note, you can actually change the game(text) to Japanese in the options, which surprised me.

A bunch of options changed:

 

Automatically moving the mouse to select options/choices and font selection is gone, and the always in front option was replaced with the language switch. They fixed the window size though, so you don't get that small line of blank white pixels around the right/bottom in the original, and removed the title bar, so the whole window is smaller.

I don't know why they made narration yellow? It's normally white for narration. Fuwa speaks in yellow, so did they change her too? Not why they would change a neutral white into yellow.

EDIT: Oh nevermind, everyone speaks in yellow apparently.

Seems someone will do an english patch for original Chusingura release using this one... If they will not fix the issues mentioned.

Okay, few hours earlier I saw this. My though here would be is JAPAN found 15 people who had 10,000 each and ask them to donate it to them lol. Okay, for serious comment here guess the rumor it was funded was true, if we look from lack of update from back at May 9th. It could mean either the company give up or didn't really need to campaign anymore now that I think about it. As for this release, at least this time they showed translation example, so everyone should at least knew that JAPAN didn't lying or be a conman here. But their still lack in communication ie didn't tell that this is only demo, because the title of free games could be misleading (Obviously I'll very happy if all 5 chapters here would be freely available at Steam right now, because I didn't need to wait several days to download it from somewhere else of course. Oh well). And if it's in Steam Store already, I think it'll be released in near future.

As for the game itself, the premise should be obvious ie 47 samurai was committed suicide back at one of famous incident in Japan, and here we'll had gender bent samurai (Just think of Eiyuu Senki or Koihime Musou if you didn't understand it). Other info would be this game was had all star eroge seiyuu, just like back at Eiyuu Senki and this game was released as doujin first. As for the H-Content cut, actually this time it was quite reasonable imo, because at least they didn't do Moenovel fatal mistake (Cut H-Scene for the first time in PC International release) ie they already did that for PSV port. Also, if Conjueror said the H-Scenes wasn't that important, maybe we'll not loss much here (Although maybe some people here like H-Scenes though). Well, to be honest, back at the campaign I look forward to this, but they promoted mobage first which didn't had voice and obviously more leaning toward dating sims instead of VN (Also it was funded very little). And for the translation once again I didn't had much complain here, although maybe JAPAN should considered some physical copy though now that they decided to be serious here (Hey, opening Steam store and preparing demo should mean that they getting serious, right).

Anyway, right now I'm downloading the demo, and from some review that I read apparently Chapter 1 was quite meaty and just beginning of the story (Like Onikakaushi in Higurashi). The demo was quite big in size (1.3 GB, 2nd biggest demo after Tokyo Babel which reached 2.1 GB).

Oop, found a mistake, referring to Asano as a "he." Twice.

They've removed a lot of stuff even partially relating to 18+, which is pretty interesting. Like Yanagisawa asking Hinako to come to the club room, because he doesn't have money for a hotel. They didn't cut the audio though. You still get the implication anyway with the lines coming after I think, so maybe it was superfluous. Also they removed a couple lines referring to Christmas as being a night that lovers spend together. That one was excusable to me though, because we usually associate it with family instead.

This is something that kinda confused me as well, because one of the sprites in the steam preview clearly has parts of her nipples showing, somehting that I am fairly certain was removed in the vita version of the game.

So, what exactly is this version? ...
