Tsukihime was great. I don't know if it'd be great now, though, due to the graphics. Kagetsu Tohya was awesome, even without knowing Tsukihime you should have fun with it~

Steins Gate stands on it's own, with very little Chaos Head references (there are like 2 of them. And none of those 2 are important in any sense.) While very biased, Steins Gate is also my number 1 in my whole VN list (about 110 right now).

Princess Waltz sucks badly. Don't try it.

Remember 11 was awesome as well, and it's underrated.

Sengoku Rance and Daibanchou are AWESOME!!!!!! You'll have to pass through a few rape scenes though~ Specially in Rance.

A lot of people really liked Clannad, but it was kind of boring to me.

I won't comment on all of them because this would be to long. However, I'd arrange your backlog like this:

What I do is start out with a long title (i.e. Hoshimemo) and in between routes I take a break and read through shorter VNs.

First you should start with either:

• Hoshimemo
  
• Steins;Gate (personally I'm waiting for JAST to release this so I won't be touching it until then, however many years that may take)
  
• Fate/Stay Night
  
• Rewrite
  
• Clannad
  

or whatever else VNDB considers as long. Then, after finishing a route or two in either of the above, go for the rest of what's on your list. I've been doing this for a while now and I've found that it helps me pace myself so I don't get too overwhelmed by something like FSN while helping me clear some stuff out of my backlog. But then again I only do this because I have a short attention span, so it might not work out for you.

I would reccomend G Senjou no Maou, I really enjoyed the story and the feel of the visual novel
