Minor Hatsukoi 1/1 question

When the protagonist is sending mail to the characters, are they sending it via email or texting? Mainly asking because it has like those email subjects that say 'RE: example subject' etc.

I think it is email. I see this a lot in anime and manga. Do the Japanese not have text messaging or do they never use it?

Before in Japan you could only send SMS to people using the same mobile phone service. (Not the case anymore.)

Everyone got their own email address from the service provider and could use that to message everyone so that's why they are using it.

Pretty much what Kiriririri said. To be honest, I just learned about mail at Japanese phone here. So yeah, HatsuKoi MC use email to sent a message to another characters.
