Kenshin_sama Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 They're both great VNs, so it's kinda hard to recommend one over the other. You could just sample both to find out what draws you in more. Quote
alden_0023 Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 I'd go Fate. Then wait until the 18+ release of the Grisaia no Rakuen before starting, so you can finish reading. Bec Grisaia no Meikyuu cliffhanger made me lose sleep. akaritan 1 Quote
Ningen Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 Their stories have nothing to do with each other. The order in which you play them is irrelevant. Quote
Overlord87 Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 Fate is a great visual novel, Grisaia "just" a very good one (a little overhyped imho). So, I'd say Fate, unless you like Grisaia's genre more. Dreamysyu and akaritan 2 Quote
onorub Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 Play Grisaia, and if you get bored of the common route play Fate. Quote
Dreamysyu Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 Well, Fate is overall better, though Grisaia is also pretty good. Both a extremely long VNs, by the way. I'd say, just choose randomly, and read the other one later. Basically, it changes nothing. If you want an exact answer, I'd say Fate. Quote
Eclipsed Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 u want the fantasy magics Holy Grail War u go fate u want the not normal high skoo with only 6 students (5 being grills) u go grisaia Quote
littleshogun Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 Well, both of those did had similarities here in regard of that they were have sort of sequel fandiscs - Ataraxia for Fate and Meikyuu/Rakuen duology for Grisaia. That say, since you apparently more in line with Key VNs iirc perhaps I could recommend read Grisaia first (ie Kajitsu), then move on to Fate because Grisaia was more alike Key VNs considering that it had slice of life and the multiple girls ending. Have fun either way. Quote
r0xm2n Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 Can't comment on Fate. But Grisaia has... * Highschool setting, and slice of life. Though not quite in the ordinary sense... * Protagonist that has quirky, odd (and downright sadist at times) opinions on everything that's happening, or who he meets. * Most of the other characters are eccentric too... * Backstories on the other students which may, quite frankly, punch you really hard in the feels. Game doesn't pull many punches on the dark themes. * Some action and intrigue (depending on the route). * Romance. Fanservice (and is quite blatant about it). Smutty humor abound. And H scenes (if you apply the patch, or purchase the unrated version). Quote
Being Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 Skip grisaia, it's awful and you can't even prepare yourself for that since the common route is just full of wacky humour (and not bad) Just a huge waste of time Quote
Akshay Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 3 hours ago, Being said: Skip grisaia, it's awful and you can't even prepare yourself for that since the common route is just full of wacky humour (and not bad) The common route kinda felt like it was written after the actual routes. There is a lot of foreshadowing, and the way the characters behave make a lot more sense during the routes themselves. The common route is a bit long, but it's not nearly as bad as you make it sound. Being Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 (clarifying since I got grossly misunderstood somehow) Common route: not bad, but it is wacky unlike the character routes so it sucks you into thinking the whole thing might be decent Character routes: unimaginably terrible, which makes the whole thing a waste of time in the end. Akimoto Masato Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 Off topic but I’ve never played either one of these lol Quote
