Dergonu Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 Yo! I'm sitting here in Japan with a vita that is screaming "play me, play me!", but I already played most of the games I bought with it, so I'm in the need for some new vita games. But... I really don't know what good games are on the vita tbh, so I need some help. A few requirements: (It must be a visual novel at its core. Not a big fan of gameplay VNs, so do keep that to a minimum.) 1) It must have a Japanese release. I'm in Japan, and have internet the speed of a slug, so the only way for me to buy games is through physical copies from stores in Japan. So localized versions available in the west/ digital only stuff won't do. A game with both a JP and ENG physical release is of course absolutely fine. As long as I can buy the JP game here. 2) It must be an all-ages game originally. I am not a fan of censored eroge, so eroge vita ports is a no-no. (I know Cruise Sign technically breaks this rule, but I got that just for the new route (/ω\) ) 3) The genre isn't that important, though I would like something with an interesting story. One game I have my eye on already is Iwaihime. Something similar with some horror themes would be pretty cool. But yeah, no real resrictions around the genre. Please do not recommend these games: (The games I already have) - Amagami - Re:Zero - Death or Kiss - - Girl Friend BETA - Kimi to Sugosu Natsuyasumi - Idol Death Game - New Game! -The Challenge Stage!- - Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka?? Wonderful Party! - KonoSora - Cruise Sign - - Danganronpa. I don't actually have the game(s) yet, but already got this recommendation like 900 times, so yeah. Already have Idol Death game, so more games in that genre isn't quite what I'm looking for right now. Quote
Asonn Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 how about going to the akiba and look around and pick anything you find fancy. Don't think about stupid shit like but maybe this game is censored. I bet if you play it and don't look up the original stuff you won't notice that anything is censored. HMN 1 Quote

That is why I hate kids nowadays, can't think for themselves and need a recommendation well they can pick anything up what looks interesting from the cover and read the back of the game to know the general idea what the game is about. littleshogun Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 (edited) Late to give the recommendations, so I guess it's better late than nothing here. As for PSV VN, surprisingly there's a number of that although admittedly the VNs were also available for PC as well. If you interested with Utawarerumono, then try both of the sequels which also available for PSV as well and if you want to catch up with the first series just watch the anime. There's also Island in which it's all age in the first place unlike Himawari, and I think you may as well try YU-NO remake there. For last recommendations, looks like Flowers could be good VNs for you as well seeing that you like shoujo ai in the past - right now three out of four seasons were also available for Vita (Spring, Summer, and Autumn). Hope the recommendations will be helpful there, and for the information all of those were also available in form of cartridge (All ages in the first place as well). PS - To @Asonn there, granted that Dergonu could just read the back cover but I think there's no harm to recommended some VNs if I may say something. And by the way your reply looks like the stubborn salty old man to me there XDDDDDDD. Edited November 9, 2017 by littleshogun Dergonu 1 Quote

bakauchuujin Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Since you are looking for games originaly all ages i think you should go for more of the vns based on things that already had an anime. Examples would be nisekoi yomeiri, to love ru true princess (kind of meh), plastic memories, saenai heroine no sodatekata blessing flowers, himouto umaru ikusei keikaku and sakurasou no pet na kanojo. Since you already have some like re:zero and new game i gues you know a bit about the spinn of vns based on anime but since you didn't think of date a live twin edition there might be some of these that you didn't know. Other than these kinds of vns i think the vita library is quite limited in terms of vns that weren't originaly eroge. Quote

Funyarinpa Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 YU-NO's remake is great (it had a few h-scenes in the original release for the PC-98 like 18 years ago, but they didn't matter to the plot in the slightest, highly recommended). At least the original game is, and Vokoca liked it, so I presume it's a faithful remake (I don't really like the new art style, but so it goes). It's a point-and-click adventure game/VN hybrid, mind. Actually even more importantly, though, I recommend The House In Fata Morgana -Collected Edition-. Easily 40 hours of content. Is also the best visual novel I've ever read, by far. Incredible characters, perfect music, great plot, and this release has some great Vita-exclusive content too. I want to play it so bad but I don't know Japanese. ;_; Quote
Dergonu Posted November 9, 2017 Author Posted November 9, 2017 Stopped by a nearby store and found these today: Spoiler Guess this is a horror-themed month now. (/ω\) Started up Iwaihime and I'm loving it already. The denpa is strong with this one. Phew... (The font is gross though, ugh. My head actually hurt from reading it for 2 hours straight.) 40 minutes ago, Funyarinpa said: Actually even more importantly, though, I recommend The House In Fata Morgana -Collected Edition-. I only really knew about the Re:Zero one when I came here, so the rest of the ones I have atm I just happened to find in random shelves at Akiba. Hopefully I'll be able to find the DAL game and maybe some other ones next time I go there. Quote

Sure, you can see pictures on Amazon, but to me that isn't quite enough.
