Consistent entertainment/immersion vs slower buildup into really awesome scenes

For my answer, it depend on what kind of genre that we have. Or in other words I'm pretty much fine with those two type of building the good part, as long as there's a reason for that. But after think about my VN that I played, I guess I'm more or less want the consistent entertainment because otherwise I might not like the VN if it's not entertaining (I knew this is a subjective matter).

As long as it has great story, I am fine with the creator choosing style. Of course, if it was too slow and I already quit the game, then it cannot be help ^^.
