onorub Posted May 9, 2018 Posted May 9, 2018 (edited) I was thinking about writers that i like the most and when i thought about Jun Maeda, i realized that i don't like him that much as a writer and the main reason Key VNs are some of my favorite was because of Baba Takahiro's directing. That was just me being dumb and not knowing what a executive producer does. Have you ever thought about a VN where you praised a writer and realized the greatness of his product really came from the directors or executive producers? Do you think i'm getting confused and directors aren't that big of a deal? Edited March 5, 2019 by onorub Gibberish 1 Quote
Okarin Posted May 9, 2018 Posted May 9, 2018 There's also the main scenario writers, Maeda leaves a lot of his ideas on VNs such as Little Busters, but he doesn't actually write the heroines' routes. So, Little Busters' main story is Maeda's handiwork, but not the details in the routes. The routes themselves include the bland (Komari), and the overboard (Kud, Haruka). However, Maeda has been moved more to musical tasks, so nowadays we see Key leaning towards superpowers and whatnot. I'd say Angel Beats is the last Key work influenced by the traditional way, which I think is mostly Maeda's work. "Harmonia" was a true nakige kinetic novel contrasting with Planetarian, it really strives to leave a fuzzy feeling. However, Maeda isn't involved with it. Quote
