I just got done saying in the post that I know enough Japanese to know that what is said in Japanese and the TL don't match up, or there are unnecessary words and phrases added. Also, when I pay for a product I have a right to criticize it. Edited January 27, 2019 by Erogamer Quote

There is a vast difference in being proficient in a language and knowing basic things you pick up from exposure, how else would languages be learned? I'm still playing chaos child, but i'm planning to play this next, unless it sucks of course. I'm 2-3 hours in and it's good so far. It has a reasonably paced introduction and transition into potentially more serious stuff. I'll make a more detailed review when I'm done. As for the translation, there are some liberties taken it seems, but not so much that it becomes a giant meme IMO. I don't think the translation changes the personality of the girls in any significant way... but I only know some Japanese, so take that for what it's worth. yelsha57 1 Quote

Good that you feel things are intact even with the liberties, and that you seem to enjoy it so far. Gonna go ahead and read it myself then. I never really understood why they do it. Sometimes its so easy to know what should be there and then its so aggrivating when you read something else. Are the japanese phrases too boring so they need to spice it up? (Certainly that is sometimes the case, but it is what it is), They just want to change things just for the sake of changing it? Think watching a english movie and the subtitles for your country werent matching what was said at all in certain places. I'm sure most would be pissed. Edited January 28, 2019 by Stormwolf Quote
Freestyle80 Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Played for an hour or so and the MC is boring, isnt he supposed to be some sort of military trained professional? Why is he acting like an adolescent teenager, his 'slip of tongue' was downright retarded hopefully it gets better, not too fond of this artstyle either, feels old (game is atleast 8 years old i'm assuming) Quote
Nandemonai Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 VNDB says original release in October 2010, so a little over eight years yes. Quote
Stormwolf Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Man, i dont understand this at all. The game says everyone is 18+ in the story, and i get why of course. But then we have a section where two thugs try to kidnap or something, a small girl (one of the heroines) and they talk about liking young developing girls and it being a loli fetish I do wonder how this contradiction gets a pass as its quite clear we're no longer dealing with these "18+" girls. Its like watching porn with it saying at the beginning "no fat chicks in this movie" and find out scene 3 features a morbidly obese woman. Quote
Stormwolf Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 How did such a gem stay untranslated for so long? Absolutely love it so far. Music is fantastic as well PiggiesGoMoo and yelsha57 2 Quote
TexasDice Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 So far, Hello Goodbye is so bad that it's good. I sincerely hope the quality doesn't increase post-prologue, because it's way more entertaining like this. Quote

Only did childhood friend route and it was pretty average content wise. Yet it got some charm most other vns of this type lack. I cant put my finger on it. feels more genuine, maybe? One complaint about the nature of the vn is that the branching happens too early. Even though the text is different you feel like you're reading the same stuff again and again. littleshogun Posted January 30, 2019 Author Posted January 30, 2019 (edited) I did make the poll, so feel free if you want to vote on this. As for my first look, no much to say other than May's voice is sounds like Eruru as expected and that some of BGM have vocal. Edited January 30, 2019 by littleshogun yelsha57 1 Quote
novurdim Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 After buying a whole bunch but not playing through a single eroge in 2018 (except trotting a bit into Evenicle) I decided to challenge myself to at least give a try to every major release of 2019! The grand eroge resurrection plan! Go me! I'm sorry 2018. Darn, I hope I'll have enough time for this... Reality fast forwards to HGB. Played till the Opening for now and (hooray!) it does get intriguing after the prologue. Guess at the very least I'll see how it goes from there and finish the first route. Don't get me wrong, May is a cute little buddha and other girls range from fine to tolerable but the game was just so painfully incompetent as a spy story. And not even in a "so bad it's good" way for me. If the relaxing but utterly uninspiring slice-of-moege continued for another several hours, I'd probably just switch to 9-nine-. Hopefully it'll get livelier with its new theme, the initial disposition doesn't seem too bad at least. Quote
littleshogun Posted February 1, 2019 Author Posted February 1, 2019 As for HGB, I guess the best way to enjoy this would be just expected Kajitsu mixed with Sharin instead of full action VN, in which both VN did have a lot of slice of life moment. That said, some element might be interesting though so you may be patient with that. PS - I did wonder if my laptop can run HGB here, and the answer is yes although the opening couldn't be played though (Must be because of my laptop is already old). Quote
Stormwolf Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Well, ive read a lot now. I liked the common route as it was quick and had some intense fast paced action. Some opinions about my experience: Spoiler May: Well, what can i say? she's a complete balloon head. I don't really like her, and while that's not bad enough, she's totally in love with her father (creepy as shit). She says it like it's something in the past, but her interactions with him tells otherwise. Protagonist acts like a cuck of course and only praising her good relationship with him. I guess they god rid of him in her route to get that out of the way. He only dies in her route. Did not like this one at all and was glad when it was done, although the action was entertaining in it. So the route was only bad when you consider May. Suguri's route is fine, but boring. She's 10 times more fun heroine than may though, but it's still a enjoyable enough experience. Not really much to say about it really. Natsume: Currently reading it and i love the character and the voice actor. What i did not like was that she was a terrible spy in the beginning, but when the vn shifted to a more serious direction then she was suddenly an amazing spy. Writer should be slapped for writing such stupid shit. Otherwise she's pretty adorable and fun (even though she has little humor). Looking forward to what drama a relationship between enemy factions can bring about. Quote
yelsha57 Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 (edited) I have read like 4 or 5 hrs of this vn. I love it so far, Im gonna start with May's route 1st. So far she is my favorite herione. She really likes to help people, and she reminds me of Sachi Komine from Grisaia. The ost is amazing, and the plot reminded me of Grisaia. I can't wait to start reading her route. PiggiesGoMoo Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Even though Suguri is my favorite, I think her route is pretty meh IMO. I'm liking Nastume's a lot more. Quote
wyldstrykr Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 only 2 votes for now. im getting p3 bgm vibes from this one. its good. question: Spoiler did anyone but the ost??? does it include the lyics of the main 5 songs as well as some of the background music to the left???anyone knows to unlock the missing cg??? ive done that glorious minigame that i have to use ms paint at 3X to beat. spoilery advance ty Quote
Stormwolf Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 Koharu is a cancerous route. Only read to the point where they argue about the damn bed. It's so cringy it makes me want to gouge out my eyes and ears. Quote
wyldstrykr Posted February 5, 2019 Posted February 5, 2019 also did you buy the ost???? what bitrate is it??? does it looks like a rip off on the game files??? Quote
novurdim Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 (edited) Finished May's route. Can't say I like it all that much. In short, May herself is fine, even though her personality is bit too simplistic and one-sided so it's hard for her to carry the SoL parts without the support of other heroines, but the story is pretty eh. Spoiler I am somewhat disappointed that our hero didn't actually retain memories of the events of that lengthy prologue, despite making me believe otherwise with his last words before the OP. As such, what could have helped to distinguish the SoL parts from the prologue (thanks to the Kaito's foreknowledge) and even made this a tense spy story about actively trying to change the future, merely ended up being random flashes of deja vu until the very end of the route. Where his "power" somehow evolved into a goofy and inconsistent literal clairvoyance in exchange for his memories (hilarious drama cheapshot that's resolved in a matter of minutes) which he randomly uses in a single over the top action scene to fight off the baddies. It's probably like his second superpower and will be better discerned from the now mostly useless first "power" (or whatever the hell that prologue was) in other routes (I hope) but I still have a feeling it'll be just as funnily convoluted. And so, since he doesn't really remember anything from the prologue 99% of the time, common route is a set of very same-y SoL scenes again, just under a different sauce, and you don't get to intentionally or significantly affect the unfolding events which creates a strong feeling that global developments are changing for the better "just because" and for plot convenience. Kaito is one lucky bastard. At the same time I still don't get his backstory: was he already like a child superspy 10 years ago but forgot all about it because of his "power", got adopted and started from the beginning? That's it? Really? Well, at least the relatively predictable and short "dad drama" was okay. OST is fairly good too. Would be nice to play a version without h-scenes though, they are very close to each other and make the ending parts draaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag. Not to mention that with how extremely wholesome and family-friendly the rest of HGB is, sudden blowjob porn makes me feel uncomfortable Not sure if I want to play the other routes, to be honest. Does is it get considerably better and more intelligible? Edited February 6, 2019 by novurdim Quote
Swim Swim Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 Is this one of the VNs which is so bad that is supposed to be good? Absolutely horrible, so boring and stupid I couldnt care about less this VN. MC revealing himself to the first girl like a retard, hit me pretty hard, wasnt funny but downright insulting to reader intelligence. Quote
Naterocks2000 Posted February 13, 2019 Posted February 13, 2019 (edited) So I just fully completed this. May's route was alright, I liked her kind personality (reminded of someone that was close to me at one point). Not much else to say besides it was decent but definitely lacked in some areas. 7/10 Suguri's route was better, I liked the childhood friend story and liked how the story ended. Not a lot to say but I rate it higher than May's. 8.5/10 Natsume's route really redeemed the VN and was really well written, there was a lot of drama and action that went hand in hand with each other. I also felt there was much more emotion in this route and was the best route until I played Koharu's. 9.5/10 Koharu's route was very offputting to me at first because of the "Nii-san" brother thing. After getting over that I began to question more and more of what the other routes told us and how it was entirely different from the other routes. We got insight on Misaki Jin and Sister Therese, and on who Koharu and the MC actually is. From that point, I knew that this was the true route of the VN and was engrossed in what was happening next and how it all played out. Once I reached the ending and saw that last cg I had no words because it was such a great ending. 10/10 Overall the VN was pretty good to me and was truly a hidden gem I was glad it got a translation. 9/10 Edited February 13, 2019 by Naterocks2000 Quote
Stormwolf Posted February 13, 2019 Posted February 13, 2019 Its just something truly saddening with nasty looking loliish characters as true heroines. She should have been swapped with natsume. Quote
