littleshogun Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 (edited) I guess it's because Karen is have some chemistry with the MC and quite funny at that, therefore should be save on the last or something like that. But really there's no hidden plot twist or something like that at Makeover here (As far as I know right now), so feel free to start from whichever heroine that you like (Or least like) and perhaps save you favorite heroine for the last. PS - By the way, after thinking a bit here I decided to finish Reina's route first before continuing Saki's route. Edited April 13, 2020 by littleshogun Quote

adamstan Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 (edited) I just started playing this. Man, the text is somehow really hard on my eyes - no matter which font I choose, it's kind of blurred and with some weird shading/transparency or whatever. Very hard to read. On the positive side - sprites with blinking animations Edited April 13, 2020 by adamstan Quote
Freestyle80 Posted April 14, 2020 Author Posted April 14, 2020 Man, too busy with Final Fantasy 7 and Persona 5R to finish this VN now, really enjoyed what I read so far though Did a bit of Karen and half of Reina's route after finishing Saki's Karens route starts a bit too oddly, their relationship is really fast-tracked which kinda killed some of it, would've liked her to stay in the MC's old place a little longer before they decided to date (even fake date), I still like their chemistry though. Reina was good too but I started to lose interest in the 'going steady' chapters, liked her buildup better. Will come back later. Now to finish the 2 aforementioned games before coming back to this VN supercar 1 Quote

And yes, the blinking sprites are pretty cool, although some blink infrequently. Quote

Maybe your eyes are better than mine I mean, I can read it, but I feel like I'm straining my eyes. The problem I have is with the border/shade around the letters. It should be black and crisp/sharp, but somehow it always looks like there was some kind of interpolation/scaling applied to it, even though I'm playing the game in the window mode in its native resolution. The edges are somewhat blurry and the contrast is poor. The rest of the screen (background, sprites, menu text) looks okay. I'll post screenshot once I get back to it. 5 minutes ago, supercar said: And yes, the blinking sprites are pretty cool, although some blink infrequently. I have a really soft spot for those - a VN gets easy bonus points from me for that supercar 1 Quote
Lycoris20 Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 Had a blast playing this one, pretty entertaining to say the least helped me stave-off boredom amidst my country's ECQ Gotta say that Karen's route was the best one for me considering her circumstances Wouldn't mind maybe re-reading it some time soon. I need glasses as I have astigmatism and a bit of myopia. Yeah, I opened the game again and the font really is kind of blurry. My memory was faulty. Making * Lovers is supposed to run at 1280x720 or lower. Anything higher, and the text gets distorted. You're running windowed mode, right? It looks sharper at that resolution, but still not 100%. I don't know if there's anything you can do about that. Changing text box transparency could help... I don't know. There may be a way to override this by messing with your graphics card's options. Sadly, mine is integrated and the Intel control panel isn't working as it should... Good luck. And in regards to the blinking sprites, yeah, I think they're really cool. I found out that The Most Forbidden Love In The World has some animation too. (At least the 2018 re-release and the MangaGamer translation.) Edited April 16, 2020 by supercar adamstan 1 Quote

I tried it - I forced antialiasing to be off, and I think it made it a bit more bearable, though it might be just an illusion. supercar 1 Quote
adamstan Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 Yesterday (after a long break) I finished Saki's route. I loved it, Saki was super-lovable heroine and I just want to be hugged by her There was basically no drama, but - unlike in Yuzuyu's route from Fureraba - it didn't feel bland to me. I guess good comedy provided the spice needed I'm currently playing Steam version without H-scene patch, and I think it is handled pretty well - it seems that NekoNyan is good at handling that stuff. I'd never call this version "All-ages" though It has outright porn cut out, but it still is pretty raunchy. Well, after all, the characters are adults (this time for real, not just for disclaimer purposes ) Now I'm looking forward to other heroines' stories. Quote
NowItsAngeTime Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 Finished Making*Lovers. Overall really liked it Really liked comedy and feel good slice of life romance. Girl Rankings: Mashiro > Ako > Saki = Karen >> Reina Route Rankings: Karen >= Mashiro > Saki > Ako > Reina TLDR: Mashiro is mah girl. She's like my type in so many ways. Weird and funny but nice and has a lotta similar interests. Though perhaps a bit pushy/picky in some ways. What she did in her last chapter (non-Epilogue) got me kinda mad but thankfully she apologized. Karen is good and I get way people like her and her route but in the end her being tsundere kinda brings down and otherwise good character/route. Saki is solid but not amazing all around. Ako was good but the step sister age gap romance was not my thing. Reina was kinda annoying and the age gap romance was not my thing. Quote

NowItsAngeTime Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 (edited) So I've been thinking about this for a few days since I finished Mashiro's route. Goign through her route I really really really liked her character she was super funny with all her. She was en route to easily being one of my favorite VN characters easily. However Ive been thinking about the little things that were kind annoying like her being randomly pushy about her weird romance rules and stuff. But most importantly the ending where she pulled her 'prank' of pretending to throw the ring left a surprisingly really bad taste in my mouth. Both because she was stupid in thinking to just check her collar as a emotional relationship shit test. But it doubles as if she were to really do it it would've just been fucking stupid since those were really important promise rings they. I know she's a jokester, insecure, socially akward and apologized but the whole scene left a bad taste in my mouth that I couldn't enjoy her ending as much as I should have. Now even when I look back at all the screenshots I saved and other funny pics I see of her, in the back of my head I always think of the bad taste of the ending/ I feel like I'm overreacting but I think what bothers me is how much I really really liked her before the ending. But after that scene, I'm not really sure where to place her. In my mind I still really like her as a whole due to her great comedy scenes and general personality but I dunno how much to take from that scene as far as thinking of her personality as a whole. Anyway, stupid rant over. Edited April 29, 2020 by NowItsAngeTime Quote
wyldstrykr Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 i like mashiro for some reason. feels like its fun being with her. ~~i think the best girl is employee A~~ Quote
adamstan Posted June 20, 2020 Posted June 20, 2020 Okay, so I finally finished Making * Lovers. It was really fun - very lighthearted, and making me feeling good and smiling most of the time While Karen's route was definitely the best (and I'm glad I kept it for last), my personal best girl is Saki (whose route I've read first). Karen would be the second in that ranking, but a close second. And then Mashiro I guess. Reina gets special prize for the most heartwarming epilogue. Spoiler On the contrary, Ako's ending was one of the most unsatisfying things I saw recently - felt almost like a "normal end". Art looks nice, music and voices sound good, and I liked the translation. If I had to nitpick, then attempted drama in some routes fell flat - it didn't have the emotional impact needed for it to work. But still it was very enjoyable piece of moege. I'd say, a notch better than Fureraba - and I'm really glad they left the dating sim mechanics out this time - so that means 8/10. Quote

It's just that some routes tried to do some drama, but it was kind of half-assed - it felt too rushed, lacking an impact. But overally I enjoyed M*L and its lightearted mood very much. When it comes to moege with overblown, and often pointless drama, infamous Harukoi Otome springs to mind Compared to that, Hatsukoi 1/1 was actually rather tame Freestyle80 1 Quote

That's an old bug in the English release. You should install the latest patch from here: https://nekonyansoft.com/download/free/patch/8 Extract and copy the updated files in the game folder; overwrite if you're prompted to do so.
