BookwormOtaku Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Finished chapter 3 of the first part of Senran Kagura; story's taken a more interesting tone. A shame Hibari didn't spend some more time with the Hebijo girls, their interactions were just getting interesting Also, for those of you who like One Piece Unlimited World Red is a pretty good game. Not a masterpiece but definitely a solid 8/10 and lots of fun to play. I admit I've fallen behind on One Piece as I'm still on the Fishman Island story, about where Luffy's gone to the castle and met the princess and mud pirate (forget his name) gets out of the barrel. Been meaning to get back to watching it, but the story's so slow and I get the feeling I can call what's going to happen next that I keep forgetting to. I'm hoping it gets better but anyway my question is how far do I need to be in One Piece to enjoy Red without spoiling anything? Quote

I don't know for sure since I haven't beaten it yet. The game is basically an imaginary side story thing where you go back and fight people from the past (Crocodile, White Beard, etc.) Punk Hazard was the latest thing I've seen but I wouldn't exactly call them spoilers. starkweather Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 ive mostly been playing planet side 2. this is the first time playing with a mouse and keyboard and man is it hard to get used to. i didnt think it was possible to suck so bad at a game. also a bit of path of exile on the side. Quote
SanadaShadow Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 I've been replaying Layton and the Curious Village, as well as Super Robot Wars: Original Generation. LCV: I cannot believe how much I have not yet forgotten. I probably missed a few hint coins, but every puzzle done perfectly and no used hint coins leaves little to be desired. SRW/SRT: Ingram's awesome. On a side note, also damn him to Hell. I love this game's strategy and its spirit mechanics and the mechs and the special attacks and that you can change mechs and you can support and all the story and everything, (haha, run-on sentence) but the absolute most awesome part of the game is the music. Beowulf forever and Time Diver is just way past badass. Cool As Ice is a name that understates the music, and Ryusei's theme shows off the GBA's singing capabilities rather badly unless at x1.5 speed, where it becomes super-ultra awesome (in fact, all the themes sound even better at x1.5). The music is so awesome, there's actually even an option to keep the music until the entire turn ends. OG2 ain't never coming near this shit (even if it does have Code ATA). nohman Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 I bought the Sims 4, but I've only played around with the CAS so far. It's quite nice, you can make some really lovely looking sims. Quote
theboxcarracer Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 I'm thinking about replaying an older Layton game too, as the puzzles in Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright were terrible. I'd probably go with Unwound Future, though. I loved that game. As for what I'm playing right now, I'm too deep in Sharin no Kuni to really engage myself with too much else, but I did recently finish both Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright and Dishonored. Dishonored is a really cool game. I think I'm totally going to buy all the DLC now. Quote
BookwormOtaku Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Just started playing Tales of Xillia 2 and it's gotten an interesting start though the chapters are going by really fast even stopping to grind. Here's hoping it's longer than the first game, which I liked but even I could tell the later parts of the game were rushed (and yes I know it was so the game could release in time for an anniversary date for the series). On a side note, this may change later, but one of the new characters, Nova, is coming across as strangely similar to Leia. She's Ludger's childhood friend, fights with a pole, and even has a similar sounding VA neromercer 1 Quote
nohman Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 I played around some more with the Sims 4. So far I've been having a decent time, but I'm sure I'll start to form some complaints once I spend more time with the game. Quote
solidbatman Posted September 7, 2014 Author Posted September 7, 2014 Still trucking my way through Persona 4 Golden. About 75% done now. Quote

mattroks101 Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I've been replaying the Hitman series, all of them in order. Most of them are terrible games, but I enjoy them anyway. Also been playing through Stalker: Call Of Pripyat with the Misery mod. It lives up to its name. Quote
BookwormOtaku Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Cleared the the first bonus chapter for Jude and Leia in Xillia 2. I'm liking everything so far except the removal of fast travel, makes going to different dungeons and fields to clear the posted jobs annoying Quote
Kenshin_sama Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Just beat the Water Temple in OoT. It was't as hard as I thought it was going to be, but man, it was annoying as hell. I wasted about half an hour just trying to find a hidden key. Nintendo, why do you enjoy taunting your customers? I might know which key you're talking about. Took me some time to find it as well. XD Also got stuck at this one point in Shadow Temple, and (click if you don't mind a hint) it took me 1 hour to realize that I had to throw a bomb at a wall where that laser statue monster was. Gotta love it when dungeon progression is a lot more simple than you'd think it was. There's still a lot of impressive obstacles in this temple, though. Quote

Also been playing through Stalker: Call Of Pripyat with the Misery mod. It lives up to its name. They don't quite stand up against time, but they were great when they came out. It's just difficult to go back to a title like Silent Assassin (which had awesome, awesome levels and missions) after playing Blood Money. The older games play a lot more rough. Absolution.... well, screw Absolution. Quote
mattroks101 Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Absolution.... well, screw Absolution. Couldn't have said it better myself. One of the biggest disappointments I ever felt Quote
nohman Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Couldn't have said it better myself. One of the biggest disappointments I ever felt I knew what to expect going in, and it was decent for one playthrough. It just had no staying power. Who ever thought removing the main staple of the series (the large, open levels) and segmenting them into parts is completely out of touch with why people love the series. Which Hitman games would you guys recommend? I've played a tiny bit of Blood Money, but the only Hitman game I actually own is Absolution, which I got from Games with Gold. There's not a whole lot to really pick from. The gameplay gets progressively better across the series, stopping at Blood Money. They all offer some really cool open world experiences though. Contracts recreates 4 of the best levels of Codename 47 (one of them being my handsdown favorite Hitman level) while still having some really cool levels of its own. Silent Assassin has a lot of cool international locations. Blood Money, well, it's the pinnacle of the series. Every level is quite memorable. At the very end, you even Sneak into the White House to assassinate the vice president Hitman is all about having fun and experimenting in an open world environment. If you're only going to play one, play Blood Money. If you do want to explore further than that, I'd recommend starting at least with Silent Assassin and working your way up to maximize your experience. Quote
nohman Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Hmmm...would you recommend I get it for the 360 or PS2 (the two non-PC gaming platforms I have), or buy it on Steam? I have no idea what quality the various versions are, so any advice would be greatly appreciated If it's Blood Money, I'd recommend Steam. The other titles would come down to personal preference. You can get them all pretty cheap on Steam. Quote
nohman Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Uuh... 47/Silent Assassin/ and Contracts kind of have a clunky control scheme to begin with, even on console. You'll probably manage alright either way, but I can't tell if you'll personally find them cumbersome in the same way as you did Fable. Never played that on the PC. Quote

Kenshin_sama Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 One of my friends wrote a review on Xillia 2 saying it was mediocre in comparison to the first. I haven't gotten around to finishing the prequel yet, so I can't really verify the details. He's usually spot on with his critiques though. http://24framesps.wordpress.com/2014/09/02/tales-of-xillia-2-review/ Also, started Elsword today. For a f2p, it's not too bad. It's been years since I've played a side-scroller, and this'll be the first I've played for the PC. I need to play more of these. Colorful designs. Quote
Stray Cat Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Played a little bit more of Persona 4. Fuck the Contrarian King, he's seriously too overpowered. I'm gonna go grind Yukiko's Castle some more to make my personas higher level. Quote
