Eokati Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 (edited) Warring States † Love Princess X ~ Gorgeous Maidens ☆ Illustrated Scrolls of Warring States ~ Hello guys. I started a big project of translating Sengoku † Koihime X. After checking up I found only one work of translation for it as subtitles on YouTube. As a big fan I would like to expand the fanbase for this game into English community too. I'm gonna work "live" time by posting an update english patch 2-3 times a month. You can find it after disclaimers bellow. I know that this is a big game, but I'm tired of waiting. If someone would like to help, by all means (especially testers and editors). If he does, than I will have to translate everything myself. My Japanese (and even English) is pretty average, so I don't guarantee perfect quality, but I will try my best to translate to the best of my ability. I do this project completely as a hobby and have no intention of charging any fee (maybe a coffe ). That's also a reason for slow speed right now. Spoiler This Patch is not fit right now for playing the game past TL. I still didn't translate all character name boxes (there are more then 100 of them), so untranslated one's gonna disappear from game (or show question marks "???"). Maybe even some bugs gonna pop up. Be mindful. Patch: Patch v3.0 Installation: There are two files: Update01 is UI translation patch, and Update02 - Story translation patch. Clephas Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Ambitious, to say the least. It's actually a bit longer than Shin Koihime's individual routes, so you have your work cut out for you. Good luck and may the dark side be with you. Eokati 1 Quote

NookGaming Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 I've played through the prologue and it's looking like it's going to be a really good VN. It could certainly use some editing, especially in the first few scenes for some reason, but it's good to read even as is. Eokati 1 Quote

Thanks again Thanks for your continued work on this. I pulled the script from the first video, made some suggested edits for some of the first few minutes (up until he gets transported), and made notes on why to give you an idea of the sort of language issues that are popping up. A lot of it is pretty minor stuff really. I compared the script in the video while checking the game for some of the lines and it looks like they're the same in game, but please let me know if wrong. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1BnZrWJzdz3H0zgvFIH4kSXFKuHHOfTYMlD14FMy90ss/edit?usp=sharing Keeping in mind, this is based off my understanding from reading the English while seeing the scenes in-game, so while some of it's around more natural English, grammar, spelling, or so on, misunderstandings may be possible since I'm not going off the Japanese. I don't have time to properly contribute, but I hope this helps to give you an idea of what I mean. Edited December 25, 2024 by NookGaming Eokati 1 Quote

NookGaming Posted Friday at 01:55 PM Posted Friday at 01:55 PM (edited) I saw that Vercere asked for feedback on Reddit, but thought I'd post here. I think it's moving in a good direction and there are some good changes to more natural translations. But there are also a number of errors, with the wrong words or occasional grammar. From the opening scene. > ~~uncle~~ **Uncle** Kazuto Capitalization when attached to a name > That uncle (IMO feels unnatural) > ...why is **still** warehouse so... Chinese-style 'this warehouse' maybe? The TL you're going off said '...why is this house's warehouse made in such a Chinese style?' > So they built **and** mansion... a mansion? > I 've heard that... I've heard that (no space). There's a few of these. Maybe it's a font thing? But it doesn't appear in some cases like 'it's Nagi-neechan' > which could barely **reflected** my face 'reflect my face', but probably better rephrased. Edited Friday at 02:06 PM by NookGaming Quote

vercere Posted Friday at 04:48 PM Posted Friday at 04:48 PM Hi NookGaming, thanks for taking the time to provide feedback. Quote > ~~uncle~~ **Uncle** Kazuto Capitalization when attached to a name Good point, I need to start paying more attention to these. Quote > That uncle (IMO feels unnatural) This is a tough one because it's kind of a double. From the original line, I read it as both "uncle" - the blood related family member, and "uncle" - the older person you are close to. I don't know if this is what you mean, I also think it's weird when it's used as "that+family member", like "that father/mother/son/daughter", but not (at least to me) if you consider it as "that person/guy". I'm open to suggestions, though! Quote > ...why is **still** warehouse so... Chinese-style 'this warehouse' maybe? The TL you're going off said '...why is this house's warehouse made in such a Chinese style?' > So they built **and** mansion... a mansion? > which could barely **reflected** my face 'reflect my face', but probably better rephrased. Good catch on the typos. Unfortunately, that's a problem I have when I'm translating, and I imagine there are more of those, but I'll look out more for them when I'm giving it a last read. When I'm seeing at the same translations for too long, my brain unconsciously just ends up skipping or filling in the blanks. Quote > I 've heard that... I've heard that (no space). There's a few of these. Maybe it's a font thing? But it doesn't appear in some cases like 'it's Nagi-neechan' I think the first one, with the space afterwards, is using ', while the second one uses `. I imagine it's an engine thing, since I remember that Eiyuutan also had that problem, while Kakumei didn't, but Eokati would know better, since he's been doing the testing. Quote

I'm open to suggestions, though! I'd personally go with something like 'He's really good at giving unreasonable tasks with a smile'. It avoids using 'That uncle' or repeating 'Uncle Kazuto', but the subject remains clear because it was mentioned two lines prior. To me at least, it reads as 'That uncle', not as in 'That uncle/guy of several uncles/guys', but 'That Uncle Kazuto who I just mentioned', which 'That' wouldn't typically be used with. It's not a huge issue or anything, but I'd err on the side of not being afraid to move things around like that if needed. 41 minutes ago, vercere said: Good catch on the typos. I have the same problem to an extent when I'm writing. I don't know if it'd work for you, but my process if it's something that no-one else will be editing for me is to write it out, re-read it, leave it alone for a while (ideally overnight), then read it again while focusing on a line-by-line reading. It's similar to what I do when editing for others, aside from the leaving it part. 41 minutes ago, vercere said: I think the first one, with the space afterwards, is using ', while the second one uses `. Hmm...that's true, for the first time, I try to stick with as literal as I can, so I don't miss anything when I'm editing, which is not necessarily a good thing. This is related to the other topic you mentioned, I'll probably end up having to reflect on this at a much later date. I appreciate the input! Quote I know what you mean. I have the same problem to an extent when I'm writing. It's similar to what I do when editing for others, aside from the leaving it part. Yeah, that works for me too, but it takes me much longer to get a fresh perspective of it. Sometimes a week, but a month is usually better. I need to completely forget what I've written. And when I get back to it, many times I find myself wondering, "what was I thinking when I wrote these". This is the reason Edit sits at 0%, I've spoken with Eokati about doing a full edit of everything only after we're done with the entire translation, so I have a fresh perspective when doing so. Quote
