I'm fairly new to visual novel, i've only read Stein;Gates and the Danganronpa serie and i'm currently reading Fate/Stay Night. As the title say i'm looking for vn focused on the plot with romance as a subplot, like S;G. I'm not really picky about the themes ( i've a preference for angsty and dramatic stories tho) and how long the game is but they must follow these conditions

- NO eroge. I don't mind if there's some fanservice, but no full ero scene

- available in english

Anyway thanks in advance and have a good day/night

Tokyo Babel comes to mind.  It has no ero scenes, and the romance takes a back seat to the story and action.  Sadly, the restriction of English-only makes it impossible for me to think of any others, as most VNs localized and made here are romance-focused or if they have a solid plot, they also have ero.

Edit: I/O also comes to mind.  I forgot about it because it was so long ago and I only played it once,  It's hard sci-fi and some consider it the predecessor to S;G.

Tsukihime a piece of blue glass moon and Witch on the Holy Night come to mind, both made by TYPE-MOON (they made Fate / Stay Night). The other Science Adventure games I'd recommend (personally never played them though) if you liked Steins;Gate. They'd be Chaos Head, Chaos Child, Anonymous Code, and Robotics Notes IIRC. I'm sure there's some fandiscs and stuff there. I also always want to recommend Marco and the Galaxy Dragon, but it's mainly a comedy with only a lightish plot, but it doesn't even have a romance subplot.

I can't think of any others off the top of my head where the romance is the subplot. A decent number come to mind where it's probably the main plot and is all-ages in English - GINKA, Island, almost anything by Key, etc.

Well, let's see what I can do here. Anyway, my recommendations here would be Root Double, Utawarerumono (Pick Shiravune version to avoid the sex scenes, and you can also try the second part and the third part as well), Shibuya Scramble, and Dies Irae (Get Amantes amentes version to avoid the sex scenes). I don't know if you already read those or not, but regardless I hope my recommendations will be helpful to you.
