If you really want to keep pushing that button, the logic behind "I said thanks, thus my statement was polite" is still messed up. As you said, it's not impolite when the statement in question really has no "impolite" connotations to begin with- the thanks does absolutely nothing there.

"Please" and "thank you" express suggestions and courtesy, instead of making them look like commands. Wouldn't you agree that adding them to a neutral statement is almost reflexive when you are trying to be polite? If you would much rather I edit both those out of all of my previous posts across all forums, I will gladly do so. You know, to free up the bytes of database space.

 

Jokes aside, I really don't know what you are asking me to do at this point.

I don't think it's tactful to go off-topic right off the bat on someone else's thread (or he might get the impression that nobody cares about his OP). With that being said, let's end here.
