I'm not a fan of the current trend of music so lucky for me all my RL mates are metalheads too

It goes with the passing of time for me. As a young kid during my rebellious phase I was into heavy, black metal and rock pretty much screamy music as I was a whiny kid seeing the world me vs the whole world etc but as I grew up I stopped listening to heavy and black metal and was more into alternative and softer rock. During my teens I wasn't a fan of rap/hip hop except a couple songs but nowadays I'm more into rap & hip hop (mostly underground rap & hip hop, political stuff etc, I still hate commercial rap though).

 

Also beeing a fan of Anime/VNs I also listen to Japanese music, pretty much everything goes. Playing StarCraft 2 also got me into korean pop.

 

Also depending on the mood I also listen to Classic music, Turkish music and instrumental & folk music of various countries (Albanian,Japanese, Chinese, Celtic etc.)

 

My favorite musicians nowadays are Yoshida Brothers, Apollo Brown and Elinel (underground rapper from my country).

Thats hilarious, I have heard almost ALL the songs in this huge mashup and I don't even listen to Pop at all..Probably thanks to the radio and remixes that I know so many lol..

 

It'd be strange if you didn't know at least few honestly, given how pervasive and overplayed pop songs can be.

 

Unless of course you never got out, then I suppose it might not be so weird.

Nice to see some fellow friends of classic rock here. I prefer the 60s & 70s, any band with great guitars or simply great in general. Most of my iPod is filled with that period (around 300 different bands). From The Kinks to Rory Gallagher to Black Sabbath. Fave band would be UFO with Michael Schenker on guitar.

But generally I am not bound to a certain genre. Depends on my mood actually.

To name a few examples which would match fuwanovel:

Anime-/Movie soundtracks by Kajiura Yuki and all of her side project bands like Kalafina.

Japanese idol bands: Passpo, Momoiro Clover Z, Aya Hirano.

Recently I discovered korean girl pop. *blush* My faves here: T-ara, 2NE1 or 4minute.

Classical Music (Chopin) or indie-rock (Rilo Kiley) is also nice. And I have a broad collection of asian rock/pop.

I'd say that my favorite genre is the somewhat vaguely defined "progressive rock" genre.  To show how varied this genre can be, I'll post songs from two of my favorite bands:  Porcupine Tree and The Mars Volta.  Small warning...  they're both pretty long songs.

So lucky...I really do wish i could attend one of their concerts xD..i really wasnt the type of person interested in music but once i heard these guys, was instantly drawn into their world..

The chance of a Concert here in south africa is sooo slim. xD.
