Gav Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Visual Arts (who own Key) have released an english translation of planetarian on the apple app store. This is the first time there has been an official english translation of a Key game so this is pretty big news! Hopefully it will be a success and more official translations will be done of Key's games. It's available on the app store for £2.49 in the UK (not sure how much elsewhere). Go buy it to support official localisation and visual novels in the west!! https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/planetarian-dream-little-star/id474121500?mt=8 Quote
Snowtsuku Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Oh God Planetarian. Too bad I'm not a fan of apple. Quote
Gav Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 Oh God Planetarian. Too bad I'm not a fan of apple. Hopefully they'll bring out an android version too but I wouldn't hold my breath. Quote

Gav Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 Oh, flip! Downloading... Downloading... CANNOT BELIEVE IT! PS: Categorized under books.... Interesting... I guess it's the most appropriate since it's a kinetic novel. Quote
Steve Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 wow this is huge! Omg if they instant TL while developing their next game, it would be so awesome!!! I mean rewrite TL is almost done and the next KEY game must be in development as well. Even a year between releases would be awesome xD Ok, this proves why KEY is my favorite company xD Quote
Saru Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Visual Arts (who own Key) have released an english translation of planetarian on the apple app store. Is it Insani's translation (edited here and there) or comletely new? Quote
Kygrykhon Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Is it Insani's translation (maybe edited) or comletely new? It's different from the one provided in fuwanovel (not sure if that's Insani's). I think it's new. Quote
Guest Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Can't believe they managed to offer it for so cheap. Even cheaper than the Japanese version i think. soo unlike Visual Arts...... what happened? theyre competing>????? Quote
Snowtsuku Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 I like the fact that this one uses Yumemi Hoshino as her name. Quote
fuzzion Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Nice! Gonna spread the word to some iphone users. The more who gets it the better. Quote
Steve Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 if I had apple device id buy it xD Isnt there some kind of version for PC, I would like to re-read planetarian and see how well translated it is. It is using the original name Yumemi so thats a plus for me. In the TL I had it had something like Revivie, I didn't even know what that meant in English xD Where as yume is much nicer and common word Quote
Gav Posted January 9, 2013 Author Posted January 9, 2013 Just finished it. I haven't read a fan translation so I don't know how it compares, but the translation seemed quite good. I didn't notice any typos but there was a few times where there was incorrect grammar or words were just missing from sentence, but nothing worse than any fan translations. The only real complaint that I would have about it was that it felt too focused on a western audience and seemed devoid of japanese culture. For example they wrote her name with the family name second and they didn't include honorifics. Quote
Saru Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 I like the fact that this one uses Yumemi Hoshino as her name. Same here. I prefer original name and had used it in my translation. It is using the original name Yumemi so thats a plus for me. In the TL I had it had something like Revivie, I didn't even know what that meant in English xD It was 'Reverie'. Sort of 'Dreamy'. Quote
Kygrykhon Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 It is using the original name Yumemi so thats a plus for me. I like Reverie Planetarian better, though. Sounds more robotic, I can't describe more but I think it fits her. Quote
S olstice Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Oh God Planetarian. Too bad I'm not a fan of apple. I feel you bro. Quote
Snowtsuku Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 I feel you bro. Playing it on PC is not really bad. I just want to read an official translation. Quote
Down Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Wait, WHAT? I can actually buy a translated VN on my iPod, for basically nothing? Downloading this at the speed of fuckin' light. Quote
Steve Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Id like to re-read but I don't think I can emulate this on PC can I? Quote
Down Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 ...aaaaand shit, my 3.5 year-old iPod Touch isn't compatible with this. Guess I won't buy it then. Too bad. Quote
Snowtsuku Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Id like to re-read but I don't think I can emulate this on PC can I? I don't think it's possible Quote
Daeyamati Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 I would definitely buy this if this was available for Android. iOS always gets the good apps Quote
Mikel Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 I'll guess I'll give it a try, at last I'll use my ipad to read a VN Quote
meru Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Don't read this while on the train or something, it's a real tear jerker ^^; I should buy it, even though I already read the fan translated one, just to support Key. It's really great they're starting to acknowledge & provide for their English-speaking fan base <3 Quote
