Mr Poltroon Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 As other people in other places are already doing this, I don't see the point of it. Nevertheless, I'm still intent on finishing it. In the meanwhile, I've got another project I've been working on a different forum. So until I truly have free time, this project is on hold. POST IN PROGRESS (aka not finished yet) This is a project in which I intend to gather various visual novel translation projects currently in the works and put them in a big list for all to see. (If you know of any projects or sites that do/are doing this, please tell me, so I can stop wasting my time at once) Backstory as to why I decided to start this unrewarding project: I've always enjoyed doing what noone else does, and one of those things is to spend high amounts of time writing, making lists, organizing stuff and other boring stuff. For example, I decided to look for titles that weren't in Okami's list, and that's where I noticed that VNDB made a pretty good job of tracking the various translation projects, so I made of the list of the ones I found this far, and I'm putting it here for everyone. I really, really wanted to hold off on making this thread until I had finished phase 1 (see below), but I fear I may be too clumsy to keep all these titles stored, without losing them, as I keep switching between different computers. As such, I'll be storing them on the site, like a cloud that I can access from anywhere. How this project will proceed: This project of mine will proceed with three different phases: 1. Gathering information. 2. Compilate and display it in a presentable fashion. 3. Update the compilation accordingly as time goes on. -------1------- Plan: Phase one consists of me (and you, if you feel like helping) looking everywhere and anywhere for translation projects of visual novels. Currently, I only have plans to include Japanese visual novels, but other languages could be accepted further down the line. Process to achieve it: For starters, I'll be looking at every visual novel in VNDB. I know that sounds ridiculous, but that's the kind of tedious thing I seem to enjoy doing. (Don't worry about me quitting, there has already been some progress, as you can see on the tab below) That's all I'll be doing for phase 1. Progress: Currently on hold until I organize what I have now. I've checked all Japanese titles on VNDB that came out since mid-2011. I'll keep checking until I've done all of them on VNDB. Obstacles: I see a couple of main problems with my strategy at the moment: 1st -> Even if I check all visual novels on VNDB, the site is not some kind of sage with all the answers. It is more than clear that some projects will be under my radar. How to fix this? Your help is the only other thing I can think of. If you know of any good sites to find translation projects, or if you notice a project missing from my list, tell me so I can quickly add it. 2nd -> By the time I finish VNDB, it'll probably be a long time from now (although I was hoping to have this done by the end of summer when I started it), so it's possible that more translation projects popped up in visual novels I already checked, meaning that I'd have to check the whole site again to find them. How to fix this? ...I think it's impossible. Unless you guys spot it, I probably won't either. -------2------- Plan: Currently, I plan to display the visual novels throughout the following sections: Updated: This will include all projects that were updated in the last week. Active: This will include all projects that were at some point updated in the last year. Inactive: This will include all visual novels that have translation projects but haven't updated them for a year or more. It doesn't matter if there's a patch out or if the developer said it would be the last patch; If the game isn't completely translated then something can be done about it, so it'll be included on this list. Official: This will include all visual novels with translation projects by official companies. The ones that actually deal with licencing and money. Companies and Translation Groups: This will include various companies and translation groups that have at some point since the start of this list translated or started translating a title. Completed: This will include all the visual novels that have at some point been on this list and have since been completed. Just for the sake of continuity. ---------Within each section---------- Title [Translation Page] - Relevant information Title - Display's the original game's title and links to it's corresponding VNDB page. [Translation Page] - Links to a page where the download link can be found, or a page where information about it can be found. In case both exist, the former is prioritized. Relevant information - Includes information that's relevant to this topic, like whether or not a patch is available or if the project is stalled. Within each section they'll all be organized from the last updated to the newest updated in the following fashion: Example post: Active: --20YY/MM/DD-- Title [Translation Page] - Relevant information --19YY/MM/DD-- Title [Translation Page] - Relevant information Process to achieve it: I just need to organize them myself, no problems here. Progress: Organizing what I have now. -------3------- Plan: Keep all the links updated and keep all the projects in their correct categories (check phase 2). Process to achieve it: Check the various visual novels on the list weekly for changes in status, and look at the more recent visual novels for translation projects to add to the list. Progress: Not started yet. Obstacles: The main problem here would be me. If for some reason I can't post here, check the status or suddenly got hit with some terrible laziness, this would be left behind. How to fix this? Bash me as hard as you can if I let myself fall behind schedule. My conscience just can't let me ignore the pleads of random people on the internet. ---------------Compilation---------------- WIP (Seriously, don't even bother looking at it right now, it's empty) Give me a few hours days while I work on what I have, afterwards I'll continue with phase 1. Active: Tsuma Shibori [Translation Page] - Patch available; Translates the interface and part of the prologue. Kyonyuu Fantasy [Translation Page] - Patch Available; Inactive: --2013/03/04-- Qualiaffordance [Translation Page] - Demo available; But it's just a partial translation made with visual novel reader, pretty much nothing, really. --2013-- Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient [Translation Page] - Currently stalled until further notice. --2013/01/07-- Madou Koukaku ~Yami no Tsuki Megami wa Doukoku de Utau~ [Translation Page] - Patch available; Translates the interface. Companies: Boku ga Tenshi ni Natta Wake [Translation Page] - Companies ans Translation Groups: Memories of Fear - Translates various Corpse Party games, both official and fanmade. Quote
Guest Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 (edited) :S If I recall correctly, Zaka is - supposedly - already doing this on the Visualnovelaer blog. He finds/steals information here : http://vntls.org/ and lists it on the blog. However, it hasn't been done on the forum yet. So ... maybe it's okay doing it ? If you already knew that and that I'm missing the intention of the thread, feel free to call me out. Edit : It seems VNTLS isn't up to date, you should contact Zaka for reliable info and for working with him Edit2 : Here <-------- Edited July 24, 2014 by Guest Quote

You might want to check this out somewhere else instead. Quote
Guest Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Once more if missed : here I edited my post and linked the VNTS posts on /jp/ Quote
Mr Poltroon Posted July 24, 2014 Author Posted July 24, 2014 Ok, ok. It's a terrible shame that there are other people doing this, but since noone on this site seems to, I'll just continue with it. I'll also make sure to 'borrow' some help from the above links. Quote
Zakamutt Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Give me a break, I'm literally on vacation. Regularly scheduled VNTS rips will resume in August. Also tracking various stuff like LB!EX tlc progress which I'm not sure if anyone else does (it is very slow though) ok that's probably the only one Note that vntls is getting back in the running now, so it might not be as outdated as you think.
