fun2novel Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Do you guys listen to the voiced lines all the way through or do you just press Enter as soon as you finish reading and move on to the next line? For me it depends how much I love the vn. Quote
Nagisa_Fawkes Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 If I find the voice particularly annoying... *ahem* *ahem* *Sumika*, I just read the text and skip the rest. Don't need to mention the H-scenes, I don't need to waste time listen to moaning and "kimochi kimochi". Quote
Kaguya Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 You use enter to go to the next line? I prefer to just click. Well, I listen to the voices most of the time. If I'm playing a kusoge I might not have the patience to wait for them to finish phrases, though. Quote
Tawm Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I usually wait until the spoken dialog is finished before clicking. Squeaky, loud and obnixious characters I tend skip the moment I've read the line. Â Being able to mute individual characters is one of my most appreciated features in VNs. If I find the voice particularly annoying... *ahem* *ahem* *Sumika*, I just read the text and skip the rest. Don't need to mention the H-scenes, I don't need to waste time listen to moaning and "kimochi kimochi". Â Sumika would be less annoying if she was voiced by Gilbert Gottfried. Â Ugh. Quote
sarayne Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I always listen to the lines in almost every vn i play. Quote
Cythnar Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Skip skip skip skip. Though it depends on the situation, who is talking, and what they're saying. When what they're saying is drawn out with a lot of pauses, yeah, I'm skipping that shit. Quote
Fiddle Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I always listen to them. Perhaps partly because it helps me get used to the Japanese. Incidentally, it bothers me that the auto mode in Grisaia sometimes makes lines go by before the character is finished speaking. Quote
Down Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Didn't we have this discussion already? ...Well it feels like that to me for most topics though :x  Anyway, usually I skip. Might sound like heresy to some but I just don't have the patience to wait until the end of the line when I'm done reading. Few exceptions are VAs I really like. I listened to all the lines of Rosa in Umineko even though she's not the most important character, because Ami Koshimizu. Same for Ronove and Sugita, or FukuJun in G-senjou, or Wakamoto in Sharin no Kuni... Silvz 1 Quote
zoom909 Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Always listen because it helps me read the JP a little faster if I hear it pronounced. (Not only that, sometimes I read the player character's lines aloud back to them...) Quote
CruelN1N1 Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Usually skip it, when h-scene comes I press enter to skip it, i don't like hearing moaming and things like that Quote
Satsuki Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 for me, the vn lose 1/3 value if there is no voice, so you get it~ and listen to them help you a lot when you want to play untranslated vn, so why not? not H-scene though, since I always skip through the whole thing. CruelN1N1 1 Quote
Yukiru Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I tend to skip them when the situation is not too important/interesting or when I dislike the character, and I never skip them when I like the VA enough. I read twice as fast to shut the characters I dislike faster, muting would be easier, but having only one character unvoiced being weird aside, it never occurred to me. Quote
sanahtlig Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Depends. Â For English VNs, I sometimes use auto-mode to give my wrists a rest, which means I have to listen to every line. Â For Japanese VNs, I usually listen to the line unless it's so simple that I can read it faster than it's spoken. Quote
LiquidShu Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I normally skip when I finished reading the line, every once in a while I listen to the full lines just 'cause. Quote
Silvz Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I only listen until I finish reading. Some lines are too long to wait @_@ Quote
GetterEmperor Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I listen to them most of the time. I skip them if they are too long though. Quote
Berilium Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Yeah same as above. I don't bother listening to long voice lines but there can be excepctions depending on the line. Quote
Nerathim Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I skip them. I only listen to voices entirely when I redo a scene I liked. Quote
Nosebleed Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I skip them most times, no need to hear what i already read. Unless it's some really dramatic moment that may lack impact if i skip it. Â I actually like listening to some h-scenes (for science of course), aside from oral sex scenes, that's just disgusting when it's right next to my ear and i never bother to listen to it. Kimanor Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Depends on the VN. Typically if it's a super short line I just skip right through the voices. Though I do listen to emotional stuffs and important things. Quote
Shinycloud Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 well, if it's a good scene like action or drama then i listen them. also depends on the vn. Quote
HMN Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 it really depends on the situation if nothing is happening i usually skip the voices Quote
Monmon Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I listen every single voiced lines.I just love how some voice actor have a really good emotion in his/her voice. Actually Voiced lines is one of the reason why i read VN. oh...i do enjoy H-scene..because,it makes me tingly...both mentally and physically. LiquidShu and Erogamer 2 Quote
Clephas Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I skip greetings, pleasant nothings, and small talk. I do listen to the rest though. Quote
Praeliator Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I listen to voiced lines, only time I wouldn't listen and just read the lines is when the character has an annoying voice that grates my nerves (so I mute that annoying character's voice by going to the settings) or if I'm close to finishing a route in the visual novel.
