Darklord Rooke Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 5 million Gmail passwords have been leaked by Russian hackers. List can be downloaded here - https://forum.btcsec.com/index.php?/topic/9426-gmail-meniai-parol/ A list of almost 5 million combinations of Gmail addresses and passwords was posted online on Tuesday. But the passwords seem to be old, and they don't appear to actually belong to Gmail accounts. Instead, it seems that many of the passwords were taken from websites where users used their Gmail addresses to register, according to some of the leak's victims as well as security experts. For example, someone might have signed up for a website with the username "[email protected]" and the password "mypassword." The list exposed this week makes it look like "mypassword" is the password for the Gmail account itself, but the user's actual Gmail password might be totally different. http://www.theage.com.au/digital-life/consumer-security/gmail-passwords-leak-online-but-you-may-not-need-to-panic-20140910-10f872.html People might want to check to see if they need to change passwords. nohman 1 Quote
Zakamutt Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Apparently a check website is up or something http://isleaked.com/en.php Yay for not being hit nohman 1 Quote
Zakamutt Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Should be mentioned that you might get your email harvested by the site or something, I don't really care at this point but still. come to think of it, maybe I should make my google account password safer anyway (note: it's not that bad either.) God knows the password for even my fuwanovel account is a bit stronger, and the vnaer password should be p. decent w Quote
Kendjin Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 2 of my accounts are on this list. PASSWORD CHANGING TIME! Quote
Insania Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Well it seems I'm safe...still going to change my password though. Quote
Kendjin Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Also worth noting, the password it showed, isn't my email password, its the quick and easy one i use for throwaways. So its definitely leaked from a site not google. Quote
Mevvrynne Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I have several email accounts which I change their passwords every 3 weeks to a month out of habit, as well as a few that I set the passwords to random generated numbers and letters that I simply remember. One of my accounts was compromised and I just trashed it entirely, thankfully I have the emails that were necessary on paper in a filing cabinet (you know, those things that old people use). Quote
Bolverk Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 One of my accounts was supposedly compromised. The password it guessed was mine http://isleaked.com/en.php was wrong though. Changed it anyway. Btw thanks for making a thread about this Rooke. Quote
theboxcarracer Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Not compromised. Fuck the guys who did this, though. Quote
Down Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Fuck the guys who did this, though. It's actually not that bad to have this released publicly though. If they managed to get into those databases and steal all those passwords, god knows how many other people/underground networks already had their hand on this before. Now this data has been made pretty much meaningless. Quote
Flutterz Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Neither of my accounts are there, but I'll still change them just in case. And I had only recently changed one of the passwords to a 22 digit one... Time to make it even long it seems. Quote
Aniki Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 All of my accounts have been compromised. Rooke is definitely the culprit here. solidbatman 1 Quote
solidbatman Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 All of my accounts have been compromised. Rooke is definitely the culprit here. That old man and his clever ways. Anyway, not on the list. Quote
Stray Cat Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Looks good, I'm probably due for a password change though anyway. Quote
Lewycool Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Nor am I. I did hear that Rooke had some schemes he was planning.... Quote
nohman Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Thanks for the heads up, this might have flew under my radar otherwise. I'm not on the list, but it's good to know. Quote
Nosebleed Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Not on the list but still changed my 2 main ones just for the sake of safety. This is a "nice" wake up call to step up security Quote
Katatsumuri Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 None of mine are compromised. Still, password-changing time~ Quote
zhurai Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 2 factor authentication imba also I'm apparently on there...but wrong password roflroflroflroflrofl Quote
Famichip Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Already enabled 2-step verification for my Gmail previously, but decided to change my password once more as a precaution. Quote
Cyrillej1 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 One of mine showed up.. and it was an important email too I didn't even know about this, but luckily I had changed it couple months back anyways (I think when I heard ebay accounts got hacked into). Ugh it's so annoying though.. I swear, I have so many different passwords, I sometimes can't log into my own account because I forget which belongs to which.. Quote

Darizuka Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 with all these hacking and leaking passwords and pictures on the internet by hackers seriously i dont know what they are proud of or trying to accomplish i mean they are showing they have completely no social life whatsoever i mean if a guy hacks a satellite to reflect the sunrays as a form of a death beam from concentrated heat from the sun's rays... and use it to shoot at Pyongyang and destroying Pyongyang in the process... That would be an achievement of hacking if group of hackers somehow hack wallstreet and destroy the stock market input for 24 hours THAT would be an achievement heck! if a group of hackers hack the 911 phone line and disrupt mobile communication and stopped internet and phone lines and put New York city in the dark at the same time letting an invasion of vampires take over New York City. THAT WOULD BE AN ACHIEVEMENT! Quote
Heizei_koukousei Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 seriously i dont know what they are proud of or trying to accomplish I agree, that was definitely hacking put to good use Touche Russians, touche. Quote
