Darklord Rooke Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 You know that "eroge community" consist of lots of non-native English speaker that can't tell the difference between perfect English and not-Engrish English, right? I do. It also consists of a lot of youngsters who generally don't care or speak/read at a high school standard. Is the reason behind this tolerance important, or just the fact that it exists? The quality of translation will be revealed with the game. I know who Checkmate is, and I don't value his assurances. He may have a different philosophy to me, a different standard of acceptable to me, or he may just not know. Quote

Kosakyun Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 At last, Neko Para things! I loved their doujin, so I bet I'll love this too. Going to read it when it comes out~ Quote
Satsuki Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 And here come the Steam Greenlight http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=339048194 Quote
Chifuyu-chan Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 dat E-mote system. couldn't get enough of it <3 Quote
Nosebleed Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Interesting Steam is allowing an all ages version to be sold through them despite an 18+ version being available elsewhere. According to SP, doing this with Grisaia would get them in a lot of trouble. I'm confused now as to what is and isn't allowed. But regardless, Nekopara hype, I love Sayori's doujins so I can't wait to try this. Chocola and Vanilla's voice are just what I imagined too. It'll be the first VN i try with E-mote technology as well. At least in the apps I have it's pretty cute. Quote

Have you been living under a rock? Same's already been done for dengeki stryker and will be done for eden*. I'm guessing the main issue was ero patchability from Steam release for SP. Maybe... Quote

No no no, the guys at SP have no idea what the hell goes on outside their delusions. One guy says this, the other retracts the statement, then another comes in saying he's not sure. In short, they have no idea. Basically, this is how it's currently set: "If steam allows it, we'll release a version there, otherwise we'll just distribute it from our own site". Quote

Cho Dengeki Stryker's all ages version is on steam, you know. And last I heard, Sekai Project was acting as if Grisaia being on Steam was possible. With NekoPara, I honestly don't know how much will be left after you take away the porn... I'm don't know if it will be straight out nukige but I can't imagine it having an actual storyline worth caring about. It will be another Sakura Spirit, all-ages ecchi stuff with no meat to it. Quote

I'm guessing the main issue was ero patchability from Steam release for SP. Maybe... I have no interesting in any of these titles so I didn't know any news for them. Apologies Although coincidentally I also live under a rock. Well good thing Steam allows it then. With NekoPara, I honestly don't know how much will be left after you take away the porn... I wondered about this as well. These are adapted from H-doujins, you'd expect them to mostly focus on that H aspect, I don't know what kind of story they're going to make that's so interesting without the H, though I would like it if it had something going for it besides the H as well so.. fingers crossed I guess. (I'll still fap to it either way) Quote
BookwormOtaku Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Interesting. If nothing else I'll play this to look for some hilariously bad engrish Quote
Darkshine Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 The art and moe of this looks good, if anything else it might be a nice way to pass the time. Though i'm not expecting much. Quote
Kosakyun Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 You can't really expect much from a nukige. Except H-scenes. If it turns out to not be a nukige, then I don't know what it'll turn out to be. Quote
Zakamutt Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 It's probably a moege, not a nukige. Putting a nukige on Greelight would be retarded... ...wait, it's the Japanese. 50/50 then! Quote
The Major Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 The sad thing is I'll probably read it regardless of the translation quality. 10/10 cutie-patootie cat-girls are enough for me. They're all I need in life. nohman 1 Quote
Kosakyun Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 If you can tolerate machine translation, then I don't see any reason not to read the possible Engrish of Neko Para. I would even go as far as saying Engrish is better than machine translation. Except in horribly translated ones. Choco and Vanilla are all you need in life. Quote

Or horrible engrish? How does one do that? You're not even reading the same story at that point. Quote

You're not even reading the same story at that point. I don't know how they do it. Some are desperate to play through it, even if they won't understand anything due to everything being utterly incomprehensible. It would sometimes show a whole new story due to its incomprehensibility. Some just want the H-scenes. I think machine translation can deal with that. ...Probably. Quote
dreamweaver Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 loving the e-mote system. sweetlight's recent game Himawari!! also used it to great effect. Quote
Mr Poltroon Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 I haven't read the trailers in detail yet, but why is everyone assuming the translation will be buggered? Or was it really that bad and I just didn't notice it? Quote

Satsuki Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 We're not. But the english line in the screenshot is moderately terrible which understandably raised concerns. Mr Poltroon 1 Quote
Darklord Rooke Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Your standards are not my standards. The videos are okay, if the mix of a formal tone with casual word-choice was intentional. However, the videos are not a part of the game. I have now seen 3 screenshots which have displayed a translated sentence from the game itself, and 2 of them have adopted a Japanese syntax to the point of sounding awkward in English[1]. That could be an intentional thing and some literature is intentionally translated that way, but if I was reading Neko Para it would be because I wanted entertainment, not for in-depth analysis of themes and styles. Because of this awkward sounding English sentences are a turn off for me.
