Funyarinpa Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 If the forums are going to provide guides on how to install patches ourselves does the removal really affect us ? Quote
Tyrael Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Rance series. Localization chance is near-zero. At least grab Sengoku Rance, from what I can tell it's the best in the series. Just note this is the one people call 'rape as character development.' After playing it myself it's 33% accurate, but it still gives a good idea of the content. Quote
Zodai Posted February 20, 2015 Author Posted February 20, 2015 How bad is the rape exactly? I heard there were loli gang rapes in this game as well Quote
Tyrael Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 It's not as bad as I was expecting, actually. Surprisingly deep in both gameplay and narrative, though Rance will still be Rance no matter how much you play. Delving too deep would involve spoilers, but while it has a lot of sex it's much more tame than a term like 'loli gang rape' would have one to believe, though it's still very much an 18+ title, where the sex is actually 'important' as opposed to the standard VN style of 'we have sex for sales but it's not actually about sex in any way' approach. Basically, if you go in expecting the worst, you'll actually end up with something really good. At least that's how I went in with it. 'Rape as character development' is really the view I went into it with, and it was better than I was expecting as well. Quote
Decay Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 lol, sex in Rance is only "important" because it's almost a nukige, a lot of people buy those games just to fap so they load them full of porn. It's not like it has a deep plot that explores human sexuality or anything. Also yeah, there's tons of rape, but it's "comedy rape". The protagonist is a chronic unapologetic rapist and they play it for laughs. It's not dark, but it's still not for everyone (or me). Tyrael 1 Quote
Kaiki Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 I got an ~20GB flash drive for about $15, if I remember correctly. Prices are gonna vary depending on the supplier, of course, so don't quote me on that. Try checking for sales; I know someone that got a near 1TB flash drive for under $50 because they were having a massive sale on flash drives. And...yeah, a lot of people here have bad memories of Okami, so...good idea. Quote
Zodai Posted February 20, 2015 Author Posted February 20, 2015 Shame I missed out on such a good deal. Yeah, I actually don't know who Okami is, but I still changed it anyway. Excuse me if this is a stupid question, but is Fuwa going to host translation patches? Quote
Zakamutt Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Probably just going to have links to the patches - though if a tl site is just plain dead, I assume we might host it ourselves. Note: I don't really know any of this for sure. Quote

Zodai Posted February 20, 2015 Author Posted February 20, 2015 Comedy rape huh? I have no idea what I'm supposed to imagine whenever I see someone use that term... Quote
Suzu Fanatic Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Be sure to grab Utawarerumono, and google for the voice patch - that one is older, but has a ton of feels. Also, anyone know if fuwa is going to keep the misc. fixes/solutions people could find at the bottem of the project pages? Quote
LiquidShu Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Kay' I have so many torrents downloading and I won't be home this weekend to continue doing so. Once fuwanovel.net goes down will I still be able to continue to download the remaining torrents in utorrent? Quote
Zodai Posted February 20, 2015 Author Posted February 20, 2015 Kay' I have so many torrents downloading and I won't be home this weekend to continue doing so. Once fuwanovel.net goes down will I still be able to continue to download the remaining torrents in utorrent? The torrents won't be down until March 1st. Part of me wants to assume it depends on the seeding. Assuming there isn't some 'hard-removal' on Nyaa or something, chances are Fuwa's just going to stop seeding the torrent once the move is finalized. If there aren't any seeders aside from them, you probably won't be able to finish the download on that end. But I don't know the absolute details myself, could just be that they go dead from some torrent management page on Nyaa. Quote
LiquidShu Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 OK, sweet. if I have until March 1st they should be finished with plenty of time. Quote
Funyarinpa Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 One thing I do not really get is, according to my knowledge of torrents, after Fuwa's torrents are taken down people who have already downloaded the torrent can seed and provide the torrent files, can't they? Quote

That was what I was wondering about... Once I have the torrent can't people continue to seed? Don't know much about things like this. Quote
Nayleen Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Yes they can still seed, download, and even import the torrent files if they so please and get their hands on a torrent file or magnet link, which is fairly easy to create from an existing torrent file. The actual files are distributed anyways and will be available as long as people are seeding, that's entirely out of our control. Quote
Zodai Posted February 21, 2015 Author Posted February 21, 2015 Hey, are there any good Nakige in particular? Aside from Key's stuff I'm having a hard time figuring out what generally qualifies. Should I grab Air and Kanon before they go off as well? Tomoyo After too, probably? What about non-Key stuff? Quote
Decay Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Air and Kanon have their fair share of fans, may as well grab them if you're interested, although a potentially better translation patch of Air is still in the works if you feel like waiting. People have a hard time agreeing with what qualifies as nakige in general. You can look at the VNDB tag for it, although there's some questionable entries: https://vndb.org/g596?fil=tagspoil-0.tag_inc-596;m=0;o=d;s=pop Quote
Zakamutt Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 To be honest, I think that apart from ONE and the Key games there isn;'t really much else that's decent (alright I'd say Katawa Shoujo also belongs, fite me) Quote
Down Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 (alright I'd say Katawa Shoujo also belongs, fite me) Downloading KS from fuwa would be pretty stupid though. Also is it even a nakige? I know it's been meme'd as FEEEEEEEELS but it's not even sad most of the time. Quote
Decay Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 edit: The new rules make this post a no-go. Monmon and sarkasmus 2 Quote
Zodai Posted February 21, 2015 Author Posted February 21, 2015 Okay, since people seem unsure how to procure stuff in a post-fuwatorrent future, here's a super brief and simple guide on how to find Japanese VN .ISOs. I will not be giving detailed install instructions. It will vary per game and I believe that part will be a site feature in the future. 1. Search for the game you want in VNDB. 2. Look for the "Original Title" field just under the game's name to find the Japanese spelling, copy it. If it does not have this, that means it was originally written in English, and you should copy that instead. 3. Paste that into [no linking or mentioning torrent sites] 4. In my example search, I'm searching for Majikoi, which is 真剣で私に恋しなさい. There are a ton of entries to the series so you'll get a lot of torrents, you want the one with the most seeds and no additions to the title. 5. ~tada~! [no linking or mentioning torrent sites] - You'll notice that these often come with extras. When you load the torrent you can safely deselect all of the non-game components You will need disc image mounting software, I think daemon tools lite is the easiest to use. Most of the time installation is as simple as an english language game, if you're familiar with doing that it shouldn't be a problem. Do take care to 1) not run the autorun, there have been reports of some of these being infected with malware, and 2) do not install to program files or other write-protected directories. After that, carefully read the readme supplied in every english patch release for instructions on how to properly install the patch. 90% of the time it's as simple as copying files over to the install folder. I mean yeah, this is all super basic. If you can't find what you want, search on www.anime-sharing.com instead. If you can't find what you want there, cry. Sometimes non-eroge VNs get uploaded to the main [no linking or mentioning torrent sites] site, not the [no linking or mentioning torrent sites] one, so search there, too. You'll have to be a little more resourceful, but it's really not all that hard. Generally speaking, once a patch comes out for a game, it is highly unlikely that it will actually be hard to find. Someone will make it available somewhere obvious. How do we tell if the autoruns are affected with Malware? Avoiding the viruses is one of the major reasons why I'd rather be able to use Fuwa above other stuff. Is there any more information on how to avoid them? Quote

I am newer to torrenting so I can say anything with certainty but if the file has a lot of downloads and is trusted in the comments section isn't that a way to tell? On top of that you have your security system to back it up. Believe me I much rather use Fuwa, it was the first site i used for these things, but since that isn't an option anymore gotta make due. Who knows I may be wrong about all of that, lol. Quote

These are disc images that are otherwise safe and don't mess with the actual installer. Also certain trusted uploaders seem safe, such as girlcelly, the uploader of the torrent I linked. Quote
