Interest in a Fuwa Gaming Club

I currently only have a Wii U, as far as consoles go. But I also have a pretty high end gaming PC, so I should be able to emulate anything that we end up picking, assuming we will go that route. I don't have the money to buy games currently, but hopefully i'll have whatever you guys end up deciding on. I think emulating an RPG would be pretty fun, like maybe Chrono Trigger or a Persona game~

I think the concept of splitting the club between 'modern games' for those who can afford/have them and 'retro games' for folks without a big budget or systems that want to participate is a great idea. That way everyone can participate in the way they want whether they're down with spending money (or whether they have a big game collection already) or not.

I'd be securely in the retro group. I only have a Vita, and I don't really have the budget to be picking up a bunch of games since I tend to spend it all on VNs. I have a PC that can run just about anything but Steam games are a pain to buy in Japan.

I heartily support and will happily belong to the emulation/retro group. I think most computers can at least run up to PS1 games so that gives us a gigantic library to choose from.

The GBA thread that just started up in the Games section makes me want to do some GBA gaming. Reminded me that it's not just consoles that can be emulated. We've got quite a lot to choose from.

Out of curiosity how are we going to choose what game to play? I understand that more modern games will be picked based on what everyone owns or can easily get, but with retro stuff we'll have the length and breadth of like 8-9 systems to choose from. I think a cool way to do it would be for everyone who is participating in the retro group to propose one game during each round, and then we'd use an impartial randomizer to pick from the selected games randomly, that way everyone's game has an equal chance of getting chosen and people are more likely to discover gems they might not have voted on if it were left to a vote. Then after that round is over everyone proposes one game again, either the same game if it wasn't chosen last time, or a new game if they'd like.

I think that first we need to find out how many of us have access to certain emulators, then we can make our game selections from there. As far as I know you can emulate up to the Wii, though I've only emulated up to GC and Ps2 so far. Do you think we should have a limit on how long the games can be? I mean I know some people don't have the time to devote to a full run of Final Fantasy VII. Unless we are going to have a set amount of time to play each game before we swap out for another.

Right now the only console I own is a 360, but my pc is a bit on the higher end. I can at least run any modern game at a minimum of 60 fps on ultra graphics. (can't say the same for my laptop) As for emulators I have little to no experience with them, the only time I've ever touched an emulator was to play Love Plus and that took me a while to put together.

DS emulators are kind of wonky. Anything before PS1 is pretty much plug and play but PS2/DS/PSP etc take a bit of fiddling to get to work right.

As I will feel better about downloading ROMs and the like compared to modern games, and since they are easier, I feel somewhat closer to the retro group.

However, I have a high end PC, a 3DS and a Vita, so I will be able to play almost anything you throw at me.

All in all, I would be down for both clubs.

Also I think the top limit should be 15 or 20 USD.

If we can attend both clubs, I am in for both.

Alright, so we are looking at doing a two group club then. A retro club, and a newer games club. Yes, you can join both if you feel so inclined, as I might join both at times. At the end of the time period, a discussion post for each group will go up, so we can keep the main thread for piking out games and instructions. I'll make an official post tonight after work and we will spend the next day or so picking out what our first games will be. I'm looking forward to it!
